I was afraid it may explode or something... <br /><br />Wanted to change to Continental MC5 but was told it was out of stock and he needed some time to get it from the warehouse. So tyre man recommended the newly released UC6 (UltraContact Diamond). I was a bit upset because I had contacted shops for MC5 best price and I have not heard of UC6.<br /><br />So after some browsing on phone and convincing from tyre man, I decided to settle for UC6. We had a good discussion while changing them. Apparently Michelin peeling issue does not constraint to Latitude series only. PS3, Primacy (not sure which exact model) and others also face this peeling issue. I would definitely call this a defect but Michelin says otherwise.<br /><br />He claims that out of 1000 peeling cases, Michelin will reject them all citing customer fault for using lower tyre pressure than the recommended pressure i.e. pumping not enough air...<br /><br />Moral of the story is to ask your tyre man whether the particular Michelin model will have peeling/tearing issue after 2 years before deciding to buy them.<br /><br />p/s:<br />- Tyre man says the peeling issue is not dangerous or hazardous. I beg to differ... if it peels, meaning the tyre/tire surface is &quot;moving&quot; while you take corners or braking. This will definitely affect the performance/safety of your driving. It is very harsh... every little bump on the road is felt hence increases overall NVH level.<br />2. It squeaks after 6-7 months, need to oil them (don&#39;t know how much they will charge yet).<br /><br />Pros.<br />1. Improved handling especially during cornering and high speed.<br />2. Harder ride.<br />3. Lasts a lifetime, according to manufacturer. <br /><br />Conclusion.<br />If you want a comfortable/soft ride and a quiet cabin, I would not recommend polyurethane bushing. The cost of replacing rubber bushing with PU ones (while retaining original lower arm) are almost the same as buying brand new set of original arm together with bushing from Toyota which can last you approximately 5 years.
