Poh Kong cautions customers over SMS scam

PETALING JAYA: Malaysian jewellery chain store Poh Kong has warned customers of a new SMS scam.

In a media statement on Saturday, the company said that the scam involved customers receiving an SMS informing them that their credit cards had been charged at Poh Kong outlets, and to call a particular number if they had not performed the transaction.

The scammers would then ask customers to reveal their personal details and credit card details.

“This SMS scam may also use different bank names or phone numbers,” said Poh Kong.

In an example provided by Poh Kong, the SMS scam would read as follows:

“RM0.00 RHB: MYR 3998.00 was charged on your card num**97 at POH KONG-AMPANG TESCO on 28/07. Call 03-92126570 if you did NOT perform this transaction.”

Poh Kong cautioned the public to be careful.

“If you receive such SMS asking you to call a number, don’t do it.

“If you wish to confirm with your bank, make sure you call the right number,” said the company.

Poh Kong has previously issued fraud alerts for scams that use the Poh Kong name for gold investment schemes, phone scams and email scams.

No parking fee hike in Ipoh, says mayor

IPOH: The Ipoh City Council (MBI) does not propose to raise parking fees in the city as implemented by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

On the other hand, Ipoh mayor Datuk Zamri Man said the council was studying the overall management for more systematic parking.

“Increasing the rate is not in our study, this means the existing rate stays for Ipoh.

“The study is more towards a new system to facilitate online payment as Ipoh is still using the coupon system,” he told reporters when attending a Car Free Day programme here Sunday.

Currently, MBI charges 30 sen for half an hour, 60 sen for an hour and RM4 for one day for parking bays under its jurisdiction.

On the programme Sunday, Zamri said there was a growing response from the public to various activities to promote healthier lifestyle.

“Based on MBI record, the programme which was held for the ninth time today attracted more than 6,000 participants from about 2,000 when it was first held.

He said the greater acceptance of the programme showed the people supported the state and local governments’ effort to reduce carbon emission in the city.

For the programme, Jalan Raja Dihilir in the city centre was closed to all vehicles from 7am to 10am once a month to conduct various physical activities for the people. - Bernama

Hi, which resolution should we choose for watching English Movies?
Like some movies from GSC and we download the movie after since the movie is available and watch through TV.
As far I know that some Movie Files don't support 4K resolution for now.
When 4K Resolution Movie Files will be available?

Hi all, my sister is using Dell Vostro for 2 years until now KO.
Why KO? Power button problem. My sister need to use for university assignment. Just bought new Asus laptop.

I'm using Lenovo Z50-70 and the laptop is just 1 year plus then already become very slow (Lag too much).

My brother is using Toshiba.
Repair for the 1st time for USB port stuck in. ( Accidentally drop the laptop on the table with Mouse receiver plugged in)
Repair for the 2nd time for Overheating
Repair for the 3rd time for Missing screw.
After all repaired case, they ask to pay even still on warranty. ( Wanna change keyboard ).

At last now the keyboard some of the keys are not working. Have to press hard to get the letter or numbers.

My best options are Asus and HP.

Asus is cheap but quality is Good.

HP is expensive is the best.

Faulty PC with Documents.
