i have a plot of land which latest evaluation by real estate agents value it at RM1.5 million. its a 7000sq land located in subang jaya. our dream is to build house, but now our priorities have change due to some setbacks recently which made me loss about rm140k. i could not make a house there, so i thought of selling it of. my target is.

1) to have my own house to settle down.
2) to have enough money to send my 2 kids education located oversea, maybe australia. (in 20 years time)
3) to have enough money in the next 5 years just in case of emergency (jobless, etc).
4) to have enough money by the time i stop working in 20 years time.

what my plans for the future depends on what i decide now. in order for me to keep the land and build a single storey bungalow on that land, i will need at least rm350K for a 2500sf build up. i cannot loan rm350k because i have too many commitments. what should i do then? sell the land and buy other houses, condos? should i invest? put it in ASB?

some of the feedback i have says do not sell the land. you wont get it anywhere else. its a prime area. keep it and make enough money to build a house. but to raise 350k will need 15 years base on the standard of saving we have now.

some feedback says, sell it off. get 3 house. rent it. but where should i buy?

whats the best move in your opinion?
More exercise helps or otherwise?

recently im active mountain biking but my training regime limit only to 3 times a week. atfer just more then a month mountain biking, i have very positive result with my stamina. however, my quest is not only to gain more stamina, but also to reduce fat and increase muscle mass.

fyi, i am 33 yo, 81kg (heaviest recorded lol), with 24% body fat. my height is 5'11. i have a very nasty cholesterol level (LDL 5.7%. HDL just slightly > 1). i am currently under simvastatin medication to reduce the cholesterol.

my target is to be 81kg, with around 15% body fat in 18 month. (and also decrease my LDL and increase my HDL)

my supplement is multi vits, and ON whey protein, taking about 3 servings a day with oatmeal.

i read an article somewhere that it is necessary to alternate cardio and resistence training 5x a week with 60-90 minutes per session.

my concern is that, with my age, would that be over training or should i just stick with my schedule. the 5x a week seems too much and i notice that my recovery level from the last exercise is about 2 days.

currently my schedule is as follows.

tuesday - biking - 45 minites.
wednesday - biking - 20 minutes. 30 minute weight training - pull ups, dips, and push ups in the park. (no gym membership).
saturday - intense biking at FRIM - 90 minutes.

should i be training 5x a week?

Work Opportunities as Doctor in Foreign country

hi all.

i am looking for opportunities to work in a foreign country and i have shortlisted the following, which is Australia, US, UK, Canada and Dubai.

fyi, i am a local uni graduate (UKM) and currently a GP working in gov hospital. it has been almost a year since i start working and another year as HO. My plan is to work in other country for a few years, then come back again to malaysia. i want to do this mainly for experience, money, and new environment. once i have experience all that, then i will consider specializing in this country.

i have done some research on my own. most of the countries have similar requirements like licensing and stuff. but the only thing i could not get is how difficult it is in terms of visa process. it seems that all the country above have strict visa rule. i am very keen to work in the US, but after reading the very strict visa ruling, i thought that i ask other peoples opinions first. i do not want to spend money, take the exams, then suddenly stuck during visa application.

if any of you guys are gp or have friends who are gp (local graduate) and now working in a foreign country, please share all your experience. i like to know in terms of salary, working condition, lifestyle, visa process, how difficut it is to get in, etc.

thank you.

Strongly considering Audi A4 B6

Hello there people.

I have not purchase any European cars before. i am currently owning Japanese car and never had any experience with any euro cars.

Its an Audi A4 B6 1.8T (auto). year 2004.
extremely low millage its only 32,000 KM.
Full Audi body kit, change the front grill.
the original absorber is now changed to Audi sports absorber. the car looks really low now with its full skirting.
change the chip, now its 200hp.
18 inch audi alloys.
saw this S4 frame by the door.
the owner when to change all this in singapore.
its nicely tinted and comes with white lamp.
2 digit plate number.
selling for 108k.

As i have no experience with european cars, i tried to read up on the net. most are positive comment. in fact, in my opinion, this A4 B6 looks a lot better even when compared with the latest C class and the latest 3 series despite the car has been in the market for a while.

so what do u guys think? is it a good buy? should i go for it?

im buying from a friend.

Guitar related FAQ

hello there fellow guitarist.

first, a little bit about my guitar learning experience. i have been playing for quite a while, but nothing fancy, just a bit of chords and bar chords sufficent to sing a long simple songs. i even got to play for a few gigs! a very nice experience for a noob guitarist like me. but my guitar progression never passed chords and bar chords since i play for the past 10 years!

about 5 month ago, i finally decide to improve my guitar technique, so i when for official training. this teacher of mine also teach at yamaha and he shred lightning fast, with nice melodic sound! btw, one of the first thing he told me is that, forget about evrything else i have learned before, and do this only! for 6 to 12 month, 1 to 2 hours a day, practice chromatic scale and NOTHING ELSE. he show me the technique on how to correctly position my hand and and how to pick. he teach some teori as well. after 6 session with him within a month, he told me my technique is fine, now go home and practice, and come back to him once i can pick comfortably fast.

since i got a bit of experience playing, i did not struggle that much, from 40 to 140 bpm on my digital metronome (2 pick per click). i practice 45 minutes a day everyday, except saturday and sunday. somehow, i have been struggling at 150 bm for quite a while, and now i stuck at 170bpm, and it seems does not want to go further. i got a bit sloppy at 160 and 170bpm. 150bpm is clean.

frustrated, i simply push the metronome to 200bpm. about a few seconds of awefull picking, i get back to 170 and it seems easier and less sloppy after that. but when the next day i try 170bpm, it started to get sloppy again worst then the previous day. so i hit 200bpm, and return to 170. occasionally, i get back to 150-160 and it is fine.

another thing i wish to highlight is that i could not last 40 seconds at 170bpm because my picking hand will start to get real sore. i have some screenshot which pinpoint the exact area of where im feeling the strain. if i push to 200bpm, the strain will come in around 15 seconds. i will rest about 30 seconds and start again. and again, after few seconds, the awefull strain will come back. sometimes, i give it a rest 2 or 3 days without guitar, thinking that when i come back to 170bpm, the strain will go away. but i was wrong. surprisingly, my left hand have no strain problem. and i have no strain at 150bpm, unless of course, i scale for more then about 6 minutes non stop.

so, here goes my question.

1) is my guitar teacher teach me the correct thing? he only told me to learn chromatic scale for 12 month and says that once i master the chromatic scale at a very high speed, everything else will be easier. he told me if possible to avoid learning songs.
2) if what he say is right, how do we get pass the 'mental' stage of doing chromatic scale? doing chromatic everyday makes me nuts!
3) is the strain normal? will it go away? or is it CTS?
4) how long should i stay at my 'comfortable' speed, where, in this situation, 150bpm.

hope u guys can give some insight on this. thanx a lot!

[attachmentid=479806]

extreme strain behind this location.

[attachmentid=479807]

Is there such thing as PUBLIC VPN tunnel Service?

We all have this problem called lag. From what i learn, our slow connection is due to the fact that so many routing and hoping from malaysia to US server. Most of our downloads is from US. Unless the server is moved to our own soil, i dont see any other way we can get our download rate getting better with all the packet shaping or too many routing in the way etc.

so, here is my questions. Is there a public VPN service out there, which is hosted by AT&T for example, where we, tmnet user could be able to dial and tunnel directly into their VPN, and then from there use the internet normally. so instead of hoping on too many routers from asia to US, and later getting shaped by AT&T, i could lessen the time to route to an online game server which is located in the US by half, only by connecting directly towards a VPN services located in US. below is the illustration of my questions.

without VPN services. (example)
-------------------------------------
kelana jaya---> brickfield gw---> kuantan gw---> vietnam--->hongkong---> taiwan--->china---> atlanticocean---> AT&T--->some AT&T gw---> another AT&T gw--->game server.

with VPN services (example).
---------------------------------
kelana jaya ----IPSEC VPN TUNNEL--------> AT&T VPN FW--->some AT&T gw---> another AT&T gw---->game server.

as illustrated above, the routing is cut down by half. and if we are AT&T customer (for their vpn service, chances are, our packet will not be likely to be shaped.

I know there are corporate VPN services. problem is, im not associated with any corporate. so my only option is, if there such thing as, Public VPN services hosted somewhere in the US, where i need to pay some fees for it. is it available? is it going to be faster? comments from lyn members is appreciated. thank you.

The Death Squat that screw my back

i thought this is worth sharing with you guys. its a long read. but i hope it serve as a reminder to those heavy lifters out there. i have been involve in weight training programe for some time and im happy that my progress has been quite good in the pass years. before, i was what ppl category as 'severely underweight' about 7 years ago with 49kg at 182cm tall. (5 feet 11). (i am male). frustrated with my conditions, i did a fair bit of study on weigth training programmes, diet techniques, with trial and error here and there, i manage to get where i am now, 75kg, although not much solid muscle shown but my tummy. i never had an injury before. nevertheless, i am quite happy with the way i am as compared to my conditions when i was a pathetic skinny boy.

i am not a dedicated weight trainer. sometimes i took time off that can take like 6 month when i was really lazy. at times i can continue for months and stop back after 7 month. my diets is like yoyo. as a result, after years of yoyo training, my body could not pass 75kg. it stall.

determined on changing that in a quest for solid body muscle, i started reading again to get motivated, get a gym membership, get all the necessary supplements, start a journal, and start carrying weights again. i thought to myself, this will be it. this time, i will not stop. to cut the story short, after 4 month in the gym, i manage to get to 80kg. so happy with my progress, i decided to go heavier on what ever training that i could get. afterall, they always preach, go short rep and heavy weights. i bench, mill press, dl, heavier. did all the big three like it is a religion. then one day, i when to the smith machine, and put the iron weights beyond my last capable limit. i was doing like 10kg extra. i thought, well, if i could do 2 reps will be fine, never thinking of the danger which lies ahead. confidently, putting those weigts on the bar, rest the handle below my neck, looking at the mirror in front of me, i squat. it was really really heavy for me, but i tried real hard, and concentrate on my form as well. i thot my form is ok. well it looks like it to me. I completed the exercise after 3 sets. happy with myself. i continue to other additional exercise which is lake curl. that too, i was doing really heavy.

after completeing my legs day that day, i was really happy feeling that i had a fruitful exercise. after shower, i grab my stuff, when to the car park, and at that time i started to feel something odd. my lower back is straining. it wasnt painfull at first, so i ignore it. maybe it is just a temporary stress which i use to have when sitting in a chair a very long time. when i reach my car, i started to feel a bit of sharp pain while trying to get into the driver seat. maybe its nothing serius, i thought. i drive back my house feeling uncomfertable sensation at my lower back. like some heavy stuff crunching againts it from top. when i reach home, with a lot of difficulties trying to get out of my car, i enter my house, go up the stairs. at this time i find that i need to use the handle by the stair side to help me walk up. i when into the bathroom, an all of a sudden, a very sharp pain on my lower back occur. the pain is so sudden and intense. its like a knife stabbing on my lower back and shove in and out several times. i could not bear the pain, i have to hold on to the sink with my hands. i cant even barely touch the floor with my foot, and if i do, a slight pressure on the feet would make my lower back feel like being on fire. i was 'standing with my hands holding the sink' with my feet hanging. i closed my eyes, hoping the pain would go away. minutes later, i try to lay feet on the ground. again the shooting pain came. i got scared to put my feet on the floor again. i was like that perhaps for 10 minutes, thinking, how the heck am i suppose to get out and walk to my room now. i got an idea. i lower myself to the floor, luckily in my bathroom there were handle for me to grab on. at last i lay myself on the bathroom floor. still feeling the pain, i crawl to my room and climb on my bed. my feet is useless. i rest and thinking, what could be wrong. confused, i decided to just go to sleep and hope that the pain will go away the next morning. suprisingly, i manage to go to sleep.

the next morning, i could not woke up from my bed at all. any movement i do will bring me terrible pain on my lower back. but i have a problem. i need to pee! but im not gonna pee on my bed. so i shouted for my maid (not being rude, but our maid is at the ground floor of the house). my maid came, and i asked her for plastics beg. i told her the problem im facing. she brought me a plastic back, i tilt slightly sideways (with pain) and pee in the bag. arrghh discusting even tho its my own urine. then i ask her to call my mom. my mom when to my room with worry face. i told her to get an ambulance because the pain is so bad i cannot take it anymore, plus, i am damn worried too. about 15 minutes later, an ambulance came with 2 guys. one is a young and burly indian chap. another is an old malay person around late 50s. we had a problem. how the heck are they going to carry an 80kg guy from a two half level house downstairs? at last they say, they gonna use my bed sheet, wrap it around me and carry me down. they could not use the stretcher because the stretcher is too small and slippery for me i could just fell off from it. with lots of difficulties (and PAIN!), they manage to carry me down stairs. i remember i shouted in pain a few times because i was rolling in the bed sheet wrap around me. at times when the shooting pain came, i would grap the ambulance guy at his arm with all my might! luckily it was not his ballz. really pity that 2 person trying to carry me. at last they succesfully carry me into the ambulance. in the ambulance, i feel like im gonna puke because of not use lying in the car. when we reach general hospital KL, they bring me to the emergency room. one doctor examine me, checking for any nerve problem. some of the nurses quickly assume i fall hence i could not walk. i remember having to explain what happen in the gym room again and again to several personnel. later, they scan me with xray. xray result came back with nothing serious. i was relief. they conclude that it was not a nerve problem, but probably muscle stretch.

but i am still feeling the pain. i can move my legs and all now, but i just could not stand! two young doctors came and examine me and say that i have muscle spasm. one of the doctor is a bone specialist? the pain is centrelized behind my lower back (pinggang). it is just there concentrated at one point, and behind the bone. then they decide to jab me with pain killer. later that evening, i was allowed to go home, but im on a wheel chair, unable to stand. well at least this time i can sit. the bad thing is that, the doctor advice me not to do any weight training for 1 year, and i have to attend physioteraphy for 3 month. my wedding is 1 month away and i have back problem now. bad luck huh.

the next day, i could stand but useing walking sticks. but the shooting pain will still haunt me several times in a day. i remember a few days later, i when for a phisio teraphy session at GH and while i was standing in the middle of the hospital crowd, suddenly the shooting pain will attack my back and the pain is so nasty i just fall of to the floor. people around me panic and rush towards me. so embarasing.

I was like that for about 1 month, only after that, i could walk normally, and even then, i was scared. Now, after 10 month from the unfortunate day, im back with training, only this time, i dont dare to do squat. and if i do, i use leg press machine with light weight. the pain and strain is still there. although it is not a sharp pain as before, it is still there waiting for me to screw up and serve me as a reminder. so guys, be careful when doing squat. no doubt, it is the best and godly exercise. but like they say, bigger power comes with bigger responsibility. before u do squat, better get someone PRO to watch over u. and wear belt please.

Thaurissan- [LoTH] Guild-Horde. www.lothguild.org

THIS WILL BE YOUR PRIMARY OPPORTUNITY FOR REROLLS AND COMEBACKS!
LoTH - Laggers Of The Horde (http://www.lothguild.org)
----------------------------------------------------------

[attachmentid=188682] Pic taken on 31st January '07, 2 weeks after we establish

[attachmentid=245298] Pic Taken on 9th June '07, 18 weeks after we establish

[attachmentid=355947] Pic taken on 8th December 2007 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Section 1 -

Who Are We?

We are Laggers Of The Horde. We are a guild from Malaysia and Asia Pacific region established on the release of The Burning Crusade. It is an opportunity for rerolls and comebacks to the World of Warcraft. LoTH is a casual, progresive, long term initiatives to take the challenge of Azeroth. Unlike other casuals, we strive to be progressive at the same time. High end Raids and group PVP will definitely be in our goal list and long term guild strategy. But unlike those hardcore and elite wow players who speak wow gibberish most of the time and do 60 in 2 weeks, we play for the fun of it. We don't do countless hours of raids and force you to commit certain hours of your precious time for it. We believe in enjoying the game at our own pace while helping each other and most importantly, building a friendly and lovely community amongst ourselves. If u feel that u are NOT a wow elites, join our ranks now and be part of stress free environment!

Our guild comprises of Malaysians from various backgrounds. But we welcome everyone including from other countries into our guild. Most of us are working individuals or students who don't have much time to play, but at the same time, we too want to experience in high end instances and end game content. LoTH is here to cater all those needs. Some of us may have been into a hardcore guild, including myself. But we feel that there is too much heat in those type of guild so we decide to be here in LoTH where everything is peace and care.

Who Are You?

Do u feel that you are committing too much of your time on wow but you are still unable to catch up with your guild members? Have u find yourself grinding and farming alone even though you are in a 200 active player guild but just because u are unable to commit 6 hours a day and have insufficient epic equipped, you are drop from the list of raids? Do u have multiple alts cause your main 60 is jobless? Do you feel nausea, having frequent headache and bloated stomach or loss of appetite? if u are one of those, u are what we category as, a person with absolutely ..no life. We have things outside the world of Azeroth. You probably have to feed your family with real food, (not alterac cheese damn it!). u may have a full time job. u only have time for wow 4 hours a week. But you are competing with a bunch of wow fanatics that have time to spend gazillion hours of wow. You force yourself to it, but instead of enjoying the game, you get stress. But you still crave in venturing into the endless burning pit of Molten core and face the fiery dragons in Azeroth. Do not be despair. with LoTH, we can create that dream for you.

Our Target and expectations

Even though we are a casual guild, we are definitely targeting to be in end game instances as well as group PVP. But rather then killing yourself to get there, we take it slowly and enjoy the game. In other words, there will be no rushing in here. You can level to 70 at your own pace. but please don't take 1 year to be level 10. We have short term, mid term and long term goals. While we get there, we have fun! So join us now and be part of our family!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Section 2 - Guild Development.

So far we have already settle on:

Faction: Horde
Realm Type: Thaurissan, Oceanic PVP.
Guild Characteristics : Long term Project, Casual, Progressive and most importantly, FUN!
Guild type: occasional raid and pvp.
Time Zone: GMT+8
Guild Population. 165 Unique accounts as of 18th March 2007. Majority Malaysian but we welcome very much other countries.
Suggested Raiding times will be between 9.30 to 12. (Not compulsory)
Suitable for: Newbies, experience, Young Adult, Working ppl, pregnant lady, students, wow comebacks, and for those who can't stand the pressure and commitment in hardcore guild.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Section 4 - FAQ

I have also add an FAQ section for the benefit of our interested members. FAQ will be updated.

Q: If we are starting new, why do we need to wait until the release of BC? We can start rolling a week earlier...to get things started rite??
A - we wanted to make sure that everything when well before we even start on a establishing new guild, such as getting enough interested members. we would not want to start lacking numbers and die off prematurely. As of now, we already have enough interested members, but we would like to take it further just to make sure. we want to avoid rushing into things. beside, the net is lagging because of the quake and its useless to establish a guild and choose a server now. we might as well use that time to get things ready outside the game first.

Q: will this be a horde or alliance guild?
A: horde

Q: what type of realm will it be?
A: PVP. as of now, no server has been chosen. we choose to wait for a new oceanic server setup. we hope that it will be setup in 5 days

Q: We be starting new and fresh?
A: Yes. we will start from scratch. from level 1. bear in mind, this is a long term project and there are a lot of newbies out there. There are also lots of ppl that wants to start over. our goal is not to rush thing and we want to have a casual, progressive and FUN game.

Q: Is this guild suitable for nubs?
A: This guild will be suitable for nubs, experience, half experience, people who dont have much time. people who dont give a damn but hands still itchy to play. working adults, students, those who wants to make comebacks, etc

Q: Who is not suitable for this guild?
A: emosional people, ninjas, whiners, backstabber's, peeping toms, sex maniac, drug addicts, those with criminal records,

Q: This guild sounds hardcore.
A: There are some confusion over the status of this guild being hardcore or casuals several days back. we already have settled those issues by implementing the guild categorization systems. those systems can be viewed somewhere in this thread and section 7.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Section 5 - Recruitment.

We are still open for recruitments. Please refer section 7 or go to our website at http://www.lothguild.org for further details. To get invites into the guild, please message my officers. Valkyrie, Shaderx, Rantic, Raichu, Babynut, Notendon and Sophiera.

--------------------------------------------

Section 6 - Guild name!

Please refer to this thread and vote for your guild names!

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/397235

START VOTING FOR OUR GUILD NAMES PEEPS!

Latest development 16 Jan 2007. - We finally settle with the name LoTH. (Laggers of The Horde)

---------------------------------------------

Section 7 - Guild categorization

After receiving numerous suggestions and opinions from the communities and guild members, we have finally decide to put down guild members categorization to help us identify between members. those are

commander (guild master)
2nd in command
deputy commander
officer
elite raiders >85% raid attendance
casual raiders > 65% raid attendance
casual peon <65% raid attendance
overthrown-peon - discipline action.

with these implemented, we hope that we can organize the guild in an efficient way, while maintain our casual/progressive status. Additional to that, we can continue with our open policy of accepting new recruitment and members WITHOUT any restrictions.
