how to disable Strict-Transport-Security

How to fake facebook

I go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
and add
127.0.0.1 facebook.com

Now I can load http://facebook.com and it loads on my local xampplite instance.
So far so good.

I load https://facebook.com and I get an error

QUOTE

This site uses HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) to specify that Firefox may only connect to it securely. As a result, it is not possible to add an exception for this certificate.

Question is, how do I disable this HSTS thing, so that I can add an exception and load https://facebook.com ?
Is there something I can add to < head> in the html file ?
Or some config to httpd.conf ?

PS: in case anybody wonders, I'm trying to fake the REFERER. facebook.com is just an example. The actual site name, I can't post here. But it is https rather than http.

termite treatment for wood

I have added an attic to a single floor house. The house is the normal brick/concrete type. But the attic is made of a metal frame (rectangular hollow beams welded together), with plywood on top. I'm a bit concerned that all that new wood would be a feast for future termites.

Is it possible to spray/paint some termite poison to the plywood before I paint it and lay vinyl or laminated wood board on top? I'm planning to DIY all these bits. A bit of googling and I thought borax or boric acid might be suitable. No idea where to get it though. Comments?

I ask the guys who made the attic for us, they say "don't worry, plywood is already pretreated". I'm not so sure. Sounded to me like they just wanted to pack up and go to the next job.

Called two pest control companies and found out that they just want to drill holes in my floor and inject poison into the soil underneath. I'm not really worried about subterranean termites, as the house is concrete/brick and the only wooden parts are the doors, ceiling boards, roof, and now attic floor. I've checked the entire house and there are no holes in the floor they could come up through. I'm more worried about the flying variety of termites. The kind we see every few months.

The way I figure it, treating the soil under my house would do nothing to discourage the termites that fly to and land on the wood upstairs. Especially considering there is a barrier (the concrete floor) shielding the termites from the poison treated soil under the house.

CARA HILANGKAN JERAWAT

I saw a post titled like this, that was then deleted. Because it is spam. But it gave me an idea.

Drill a hole in the center of the suction cup, but not all the way through. Make it so that the syringe can fit snugly in the hole.

Open up a paperclip and poke it the rest of the way through the suction cup. Make a hole about 1mm or so in diameter. Make sure the hole remains, and does not "close up" when the paperclip is removed. Easiest way would be to heat the paper clip on a gas burner and burn the hole in the suction cup.

Fit the syringe back onto the suction cup. Apply hot glue to make sure the apparatus sticks together and the join is airtight.

Position the hole over the pimple and suck with the syringe.

I have not actually built this thing yet. But what do you guys thing? Good idea or bad?

I've previously tried using a syringe without the suction cup, but it does not work because the nozzle of the syringe does not make a good seal against the skin. The walls of the nozzle is too hard and inflexible, the hole in the nozzle is too big.

PS: a 10ml syringe is probably too small, but I suspect a 50ml syringe would would work great.

hard tooth brush

There are "medium" tooth brush, there are "soft" tooth brush.

I liked the extra hard tooth brush. But now, even the "hard" has disappeared off the shelf. The medium is simply too soft for me.

Anybody know of any shop in the Klang Valley still selling hard tooth brushes? Hopefully in KL center or northwards towards Kepong, so I don't have to drive all the way to Shah Alam or Klang. But I'm willing to go to Seremban if I have to. I'll buy 50 of them to last me for 5 years.

getting wan ip from modem

Anybody knows how we can get the WAN IP from unifi's L7 modem programatically? I was going to use curl, then I saw that it is in the javascript. Neither curl nor wget has a javascript interpreter.

Looks like this

How to register US gmail?

How to register US gmail accounts?

I hope this question is has not already been asked. Tried to search, found nothing.

I tried to create a gmail account just now, and failed. (I have to make 3). Already used a VPN and checked that it's coming out in Florida. But it seems that google now wants to verify accounts by making a phone call or sending an SMS message.

Is there any way around this?

There's a ton of websites offering to receive SMS, but of course none of these work. Tried about 10 of them. Too many people have already used those numbers, and gmail has a limit as to how many accounts can be verified by each phone number.

Tried free VOIP services like callcentric.com, but gmail says those numbers are invalid. Probably because these are SIP numbers rather than PSTN numbers.

Tried a PSTN to SIP service like ipkall.com, but no joy either.

Anybody has any ideas?

PS: if USA is really impossible, is there any country where gmail would accept registrations without phone verification? Need it to be not .my or .sg

Does anyone know if there is a a place that lists the death dates of all authors and translators in the whole world?
upvc pipe

Not sure if this is the correct forum. Searched around, but found no DIY forum. Is this the correct place?

I'm planning to do some DIY plumbing. Add a water supply pipe from the tank in the "attic" to my bathroom.

I'm looking online, and all the video and websites says that pvc pipes are white, and electrical conduit is dark grey. These are mostly Americans. It seems that in Malaysia, this is reversed. Electrical conduit is normally white, and water pipe dark grey.

I have a length of pipe with me right now. The marking on it says
WWW™ UPVC PIPE BS 3505 15mm CLASS D

in smaller letters
06719A 09:07 MFG BY BPSB (7)

Questions

1: UPVC pipe, dark grey, is for potable water right?

2: it says 15mm. But I measured it with a ruler, the inside diameter is 18.5mm, the outside diameter is 22mm. Give or take half an mm (I'm eyeballing it, don't have a vernier with me).

3: in about another 2 months, I'm planning to do another project. A drinkable water filter on the first floor, output to a small tank, and then a long pipe and/or hose down to the kitchen on the ground floor. The reason the tank is not in the kitchen is because the kitchen is a bit too cramped already.

My concern is, the water is going to be sitting in this plastic pipe 24/7. If it is not made of the right material, all sorts of nasty chemicals might leach out of it and into the water we're going to drink and cook with. Is this dark grey UPVC pipe suitable material, or should I use some other kind of food grade flexible hose?

gbridge problem

I'm using gbridge, multiple computers in two separate locations. Sometime between yesterday and today, all of them stopped working. I get a message saying gbridge is being blocked by the firewall and I'm to try to disable the firewall temporarily and see if that resolves the problem.

1. gbridge was previously working on all these computers and used about one or two times per week.

2. exception was already added to the firewall.

3. disabled the firewall on all the computers and restarted gbridge, no difference.

4. tried to login using the gmail account, no problem, retype login/pass on all gbridge installations, no difference. This isn't the problem anyway, it can login, and I can see the list of the other computers, but they appear to be all offline.

Anyone else using gbridge? Are you facing this problem or not?

That this affected 6 different computers at 2 different locations makes me suspect that the problem is not with the computers, but something on the network. Like unifi suddenly blocking whatever port gbridge was using. Or google turning off what gbridge was using to authenticate with.

Anyone has any ideas on how to resolve this?
