Recommendations for forwarders from 1688 etc

There are some specific items I can't find on local online platforms. I know Taobao does consolidated shipping but some of the items I can find are only available from 1688 and Wedian who only ship to local Chinese addresses

I know when I bought from Amazon US last time I got a US forwarder to do it for me. Anyone have any recommendations for China ones? Thanks

Best graphics card in current prices for RM 1-1.5k

I upgraded my PC last year to new CPU Ryzen 2600, 16gb RAM and motherboard

I didn't upgrade my graphics card due to the current crazy prices so kept my old R9 270x which is around 8 years old.

Last night, the card started artefacting and red and green lines everywhere. I thought it was overheating, so took case side off, cleaned it, put a fan on it and monitored temperatures. They were about 50-60 on load but every 5mins PC would go weird colours and crash. I guess my GPU died.....

So now I need a new card and forced to buy in these current crazy prices. Which card is best for a budget of RM 1k - 1.5k?

I looked online and seems 1660 or 5500xt are good cards and in price range, but Lazada etc all full of scam links so hard to find

Recommendation for 24" 144hz 1080p - Budget RM900

Hi

I am looking for a 144hz monitor 1080p max size 24" with a budget of RM 900

I have read a lot of websites and a lot of reviews and I still cant figure out which model or even type of panel.

I play mainly FPS games (Counterstrike / Valorant) but only casually so I don't need some insane 0.001ms refresh rate. But at the same time, I want the best for my money - so I am leading towards IPS as good colours and good refresh rate?

Does anyone have any recommendations? I am currently looking at Asus VG249Q which is 1ms, 1080p and IPS panel. Is this the best my money can buy?

Advice on upgrade CPU and motherboard

Budget: RM500-750 (happy to buy used / second hand parts)

Want to upgrade my CPU and Motherboard. Currently have a FX8350 and motherboard but it's slowly dieing (I bought the CPU with bent pins and fixed it, but I guess it's now old and dieing - random crashes, USB ports not working etc). Since I need to get a new one, may as well upgrade right?

Ideally would like to go to Intel as emulators are quite specific and work better on Intel

Purpose: Gaming (CSGO, League of Legends and a few older titles) and emulators

I have 12gb DDR3 I can reuse (if mobo supports) or I have some DDR4 in another system I can use if need to

Graphics card is R9 270x currently, not sure if it will bottleneck?

Nothing serious, just some like minded people who wont ruin the game like playing with 4 other random Chinese/Thai/Russian etc. that you get who grief and troll.

I play most nights from 9pm onwards.
Cars and Coffee (or similar meets) in KL

I am originally from UK and also travelled a lot to US. Every 2 weeks there would be a car meet where people can park up their car at the local cafe / Starbucks etc. and grab some breakfast and a coffee on Sunday morning and look at other cars, have a chat to people etc. Its quite a good following and I enjoyed it a lot

See a few Youtube video examples:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DZyoxVv_D0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MFt7BZmRoU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fqH0wZbRYk

Is there anything similar in KL? If not, is it worth starting one up?

Also, what happened to the KL Drag Race that was on a few years ago. I went once and it seemed good and well organised - then nothing this last year?

Upgrade advice

Hi guys

I am looking to build a new media PC for my living room. Instead of just building new, I thought I could use parts from my current PC and use it as an excuse to upgrade my main gaming PC I will therefore have 2 PCs, a media PC and a gaming PC - I am looking for upgrade options for the gaming PC only in this post [edited to add to make clear based on replies below]

Currently, I have a AMD FX8320 with a R9 270x and this PC is mainly used for gaming (CS:GO, League of Legend and some other games) and secondary for watching movies/internet/youtube etc. I am thinking of re-using the mobo and CPU in my Media PC and selling the R9 270x

This would give me a budget of RM 2 - 2.5k. I would need the following parts:
- CPU
- Mobo
- RAM (as PC now is DDR3)
- Graphics card
- Power supply

I will re-use my HD, SSD and case.

Looking at the budget, I was thinking of going for Intel (as had many problems with AMD....) and saw the i5 8400 with a GTX 1050 Ti would use up most of my budget. I am fairly sure the CPU would be a performance upgrade - but is the graphics card an upgrade from 270x to GTX 1050 Ti? I couldnt see (from benchmarks) much improvement

So what should I do? Any suggestions for my budget?

DX Racer chair - re-skin / re-leather

Not sure if this is the correct subforum, so apologies.

I bought my DX Racer chair 3 years ago when back in UK and shipped it with me when I moved to KL 2 years ago. The chair is comfortable and fits my posture and size (I tried a few as I am 6'3" and needed a high backrest). I assume as Malaysia is obviously hotter the material has now cracked and split. The rest of the chair (frame, support, bolster, cushioning) is perfect, just the material is now getting ripped and split

I looked online and the chairs seem expensive for a new one (I paid £100 for mine new, here the same model is RM2000+) so my questions are:

- Is it worth the effort of re-skinning / re-leathering it?
- Are there any companies that will do this? I am assuming if I take to the car garages that re-leather car seats they should be able to do it
- Any ideas how much it would be?
- Any other alternatives if I am to buy a new one

Leasehold vs. Freehold - crossing point?

Hi all

I have been offered an option for two properties:

1) Freehold, 4 bedroom, 1800sqft
2) Leasehold (99 years remaining), 4 bedroom, 2300sqft

Both are the same price, both in the same location (around 2min drive between them), similar facilities but option 2 is 1 year older (both are new and completed this year and last year)

At what point, in your guys opinion, is the crossing point where it makes leasehold more worth it?

I have always been against leasehold and opt for freehold, because of the sale price in future and also because the demand will be a lot lower when I come to sell.

This is for own stay, not for investment and I expect to stay there around 5-10 years

My question is that the RM/sqft for the Leasehold is a lot lower and the space is a lot bigger for the same price, but the downside is it is leasehold. Does the cheaper RM/sqft and bigger space make it worthwhile to go for leasehold with all the problems it has?

Data recovery companies in KL (Or Malaysia)

I have a MicroSD card which is not read by my old Samsung S4. I've tried it in a few phones and still not being recognised. I put it into a USB reader, and saw the volume so began to copy my files across to my PC as a backup. Around 1min into this, it couldn't find the drive anymore.

Ever since then, no matter how many USB readers or re-plugging into PC it can't find the volume. It recognises there is a USB, and I can double click and try to open the drive in Windows Explorer, but it just spins the circle for 2-3mins and then it says timed out.

So I am looking for a data recovery company who can retrieve my photos and videos - cost isn't too much of an issue and the card is only 8GB.

I have tried the one at Plaza Imbi as I saw they were mentioned on here before, but when I went and passed the owner my MicroSD card (after confirming he can do it or at least try by email the day before), he didnt even have a MicroSD card reader (I didnt know this at the time). He made some excuse that he had to go away for a minute, and then came back with some loose change in his hand and a brand new unopened cable - so already I am starting to doubt his ability. He then tried once to insert into USB, couldnt find the drive in Windows (which I already told him) and then said the card is "fried" and can't be retrieved

The reason I mention the above, is I know it can't be retrieved by software (I have tried a lot of diff programmes), so I need a company experienced in this process probably through hardware method. I did Google, but the same 2 companies keep coming up (the one above) and MDR, whos phone number never answer and emails never reply.

So if anyone has any recommendations for KL where I can drop it off, or I am happy to post/courier my card if its somewhere else in Malaysia, I just need some recommendations, thanks!

Who works in construction / property / developer?

Thought it would be interesting to see who worked in the same industry

I just moved to KL from UK and am a Chartered QS but now work in construction tax. Was looking to build up contacts and networks but spoke to RICS (no events except RM2k annual dinner....) and Malaysia Board of QS (didn't reply me...)

I did look into a few property expo and fairs but this just seems to be sales agents and for people to view to buy property

Anyone in the industry? And if so what events do you attend?
