I bought this chromebook refurbished in 2020 to pass some time during MCO and I realised afterwards that it have met its end-of-life for its chromeOS support (no google playstore).

I did some research and finally i modded its firmware into a custom firmware from https://mrchromebox.tech/#fwscript following the instructions from https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Install+CloudR...ther+OS)/123869. What this firmware does is it enables the installation of OS other than chromeOS.

I have tried many OS installations such as Windows 10, Cloudready, FydeOS etc etc and I concluded that Ubuntu is the best (Refer pictures) and the second is Cloudready. If you prefer Cloudready, which in my opinion, too restrictive for a daily driver, you can easily reformat the machine. Also, I tried installing macOS following https://www.reddit.com/r/chrultrabook/comme...ook_pixel_2013/ but its too difficult for me and I gave up.

If you keep Ubuntu, you can enjoy the modifications that I have refined to cater for this machine inherent limitations:

i. I have installed, scripted and binded fan control shortcut keys as ctrl+3/4/5/6 to control fan speed 30%,40%,50% and 100%. (without this script the fan will only run constantly at 30%.
ii. I have performed some UI adjustments, such as transparent and centered dock, removed windows animations etc to make the UI fluid.
iii. I have tuned libreoffice: disable hardware acceleration, anti aliasing
iv. All features: touchscreen, trackpad, wifi, bluetooth, webcam, indicator light, is working perfectly.

The main reason you should own this chromebook is its superb, touch screen running at 2560x1700. The color accuracy, high dpi and vividness of the screen makes it even better than my surface book. I enjoy watching HD Japan Walk youtube videos in it!

Other info thats good to know:

i. Battery last 3 - 4 hours depending on usage
ii. There is no sound adjustments bug in ubuntu, ambient light auto adjustment is erratic (disabled)
iii. Keyboard is good but media buttons act as F1-F10 keys
iv. Temperature issues in Chromebook Pixel 2013 is a design flaw (solved by fan control as above)
v. Cooling fan is audible above 50%
vi. The Ubuntu version installed is the latest version - Wayland
vii. I have reapplied the thermal paste (non-branded)
viii. The SSD is 32gb, irreplaceble, but there is a sd card expansion slot (tested working)

Reason for sale: I think this beautiful machine is underused as I already have surface book and a desktop at home. It should go to a new owner.

Hi all,

I am looking for an old game that goes like this:

There are 3 resources: solar, oil(combustion) and uranium
We start with a team of human players
We can at one point train apes to become teammates
Each character can change job and level up in research, construction, medic etc
If any of the character died they stay dead permanently and cannot be brought forward to next stage
Can construct vehicles that use the three resources
Each stage got objective to clear.
