Should I buy the Illegear Raven?

I was considering about buying the Illegear Raven (configured with Intel Core i5-7300HQ, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, 120 GB SSD and Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti, which totals to RM 4,298). The thing is that Coffee Lake based Core H CPU is coming to laptops (from what I heard, the next gen CPU will arrive on Illegear laptops in early May and the prices for the laptops with 7th gen Core CPUs has been changed to reflect the update). At the same time, I'm also not sure if games and daily tasks will benefit from the upgrade.

I'll be using my next laptop for gaming, illustrating and college tasks. To me, a good compromise of gaming performance and battery life is important even though I'm leaning more towards gaming performance. If anything, are there any laptop models around RM 4,500 that could do just as good or better than this? Thanks in advance.

Is it better to buy a laptop here or in Taiwan?

Not sure if it's the right place to post this but I hope it's the right place to post them.

I've earlier asked around here about what laptop to recommend to my brother who will be going to Taiwan next month to study IT. From what I've heard, it's easier for him to claim warranty in Taiwan if he buys a laptop in Taiwan (he will be there for at least a year). But I've also heard that laptops in Taiwan will be more expensive than here.

Can anyone explain the pros and cons of buying a laptop here and in Taiwan? Thanks in advance.

Sam's review of the KFC Chizza

So as far as I knew, last year, quite some people here (including me) were hyped when they heard KFC is releasing the Chizza; a chicken fillet topped with pizza ingredients. And that's Hawaiian Chicken- pineapples over cheese over pizza tomato sauce. Although it's not released here at that time, quite a lot of people wanted to have one.

And of course it has now landed here, in our shores.

I'm going to show one of the ads from KFC's official channel (I'm not paid in any way to promote this, okay? I shelled out my own money for this.):

So... today, since it's the last day of SPM for me, I decided to celebrate that myself with one. Who wouldn't want it? It costs me RM 15.90 for a Chizza Box (comes with the main menu, a piece of fried chicken, regular-sized soft drink and fries.) There's also the RM 11.90 option (with soft drink and fries) and the RM 7.90 option (ala carte). So... I'll just go straight to the main focus, the Chizza. How do I think of it?

To start with, it comes in a 6-inch pizza box. It's not cardboard tho. When I open the box, guess what? The Chizza, which is slightly smaller than my already large hand (something like my 4.5 inch phone), is waiting for me. I think that's a decent size, considering the other ingredients and price (in comparison, the RM 12.99 ala carte/RM 15.99 Thai Fish Burger for a set that I've reviewed is unjustifiable due to its price-to-size ratio). The cheese is well melted save for some misses, which is okay. I could see all the ingredients there- the fillet, pizza sauce, cheese, pineapple, onions, chili and parsley flakes. But yeah, how does it taste?

First, I could taste the spiciness, which is quite good. I could taste the cheese and crunchy chicken, which does blend into each other. They do have the similar texture, however, which kinda overshadows the chicken by a margin. But what's more important is that they really taste like pizza; specifically the Hawaiian pizza, without the pizza bread crust. Honestly, I could totally brag that it's the best RM 15.90 I've spent on. But of course, don't take my words for it. KFC Giant Bukit Tinggi might as well be godsent; basically I'm saying that it might vary from branch to branch.

Rating: 9.3/10. BEST. SPEND. EVER. Would totally have another one if I wanted to.

Sam's review of the McD Thai Fish Burger

Every time I see ads for new food in KFC or McDonalds, I'm reasonably hyped if it's something new. However, things like this could be a hit or miss, especially if that's something exotic. The only promotional fast food menus which I fondly remember having is KFC's Wasabi Rice Wrap and Salsa Rice Wrap and that's just about it. But this isn't anything about KFC, because as obvious as the title is, I'll be talking about McDonald's newest promotional product as a part of Discover the World line: the Thai Fish Burger. Here are some of the promotional videos for this one:

Speaking of the best Thai food, quite some people have put up their pitchforks over the claim that it is the best Thai food. But could this break those rebukes? Here's my review of this.

The set is complete with:

-Thai Fish Burger
-Criss Cut Chips
-A choice of soft drink

Going with the chips, they are crunchy, something like those Mister Potato chips, but crunchier without any flavoring. Adding chili sauce will solve that.

On to the main focus, it's just as big as my 4.5 inches phone, only short and thicker. Mind you, that's about 5 inches by 2.6 inches by 2.2 inches which is small. There's sliced carrot, lettuce and onions in it, and then the fish filet and the Thai green curry sauce itself crammed into a special chili bun. Does the taste be the saving grace for the small size? Apparently not so. I could feel the coconut milk, some zing of lime and the spiciness, but it isn't close enough. On the other hand, the fillet is well-fried and the vegetables do the work decently. But overall a bit let down by this, mainly because it doesn't taste too satisfying.

In conclusion, this might have deserved the pitchforks. It's not even close to the taste of Thailand. Couple with the price of RM 12.99 for ala carte or RM 15.99 for the set, and you get an overpriced burger that doesn't deliver enough on size and taste.

Rating: 3.9/10. Too small, not satisfying enough, too expensive. At least they tried and had convinced me to have one of these.

While I am still at home getting saltier by every minute when I saw it. Hell, if I had known about it then I would be following my good friends and have fun there. Mind you, I had nothing to play at home thanks to my potato PC. Feeling so depressed right now.

Which should I upgrade first?

I have thought of getting myself a Zotac Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 for gaming, but I really doubt about going for that upgrade because as I far I know, bottleneck will be easily present if I go with the GPU first. But going with the CPU would be costlier and less cost-effective since I will have to buy a motherboard for that and maybe a DDR4 RAM for it to take advantage of the new hardware properly. Here's my PC's spec:

CPU: Intel Pentium E6600 3.06 GHz (which will cause a severe bottleneck if I went with the GPU first. Especially if this is a low-end 2010 CPU)
GPU: Intel G41 Express Chipset (Yes, I know it kinda sucks)
RAM: 1x 4 GB DDR3 (1333 MHz)
OS: Windows 10
PSU Wattage: 230 Watts (A concern for my PC)

If I go with the GPU:
ZOTAC Nvidia GTX 1050 - RM 589
PSU - ??? - <RM 100 (if needed)

If I went with the CPU:
Intel Pentium G4560 - ~RM 300
Asus H110M-K 1151 DDR4 RM 269 -or- DDR3 RM 229
Corsair Vengeance 1x4GB DDR4 - RM 169 (if needed)

Thanks in advance.

Najib: 'U-turn Mahathir' now says DPM post for DAP

QUOTE

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak feels Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad makes no sense in designating Lim Kit Siang as a deputy prime minister candidate, after having previously labelled the politician ‘a racist’.

On Wednesday, Tun Mahathir said that the DAP had requested for its party leader to take the position of deputy prime minister should the opposition win the next general election.

"(Tun Mahathir) spent 22 years attacking DAP. He labelled Lim Kit Siang as a racist, anti-Islam and anti-Malay.

And now, suddenly, he wants to give Kit Siang the position of deputy prime minister. Does this make sense?" Najib said in his speech to launch the first ‘Jom Bantu’ programme in Titiwangsa.

He said political expediency does not justify dealings or statements that could lead to negative repercussions for all.

At the same time, Najib also hit out at Tun Mahathir for "slandering" the Forest City development in Johor.

Dubbing the former premier "U-turn Mahathir" due to the latter's series of back-pedalling on issues including BR1M, Najib said the PPBM chairman had made a false statement when he claimed Chinese investors in Forest City would be given Malaysian citizenship.

"The reclaimed lands in Forest City are being sold under a leasehold agreement. Leasehold means only 99 years. If (the investors) buy a house (in Forest City), their house will be on our land.

So (in what way is) our sovereignty being sacrificed, ladies and gentlemen?" he added. Najib said Malaysians stand to gain more from foreign direct investments.

"This Tun Mahathir... Tun 'U-turn' Mahathir. I call him ‘U-turn Mahathir’ because he made lots of U-turns.

And he has now made a false statement and (slandered) the federal and Johor governments.

"(The investors) are from China, which is the world's largest economy. They are immensely rich and do not wish to be Malaysian citizens.

"If they live here, they will bring their families here. Who stands to gain the most? We do!" Najib said.

Read More : http://www.nst.com.my/news/2017/01/205746/...ys-dpm-post-dap

Is he kidding me?
KFC Cheesy Mushroom Crunch

First things first, I am not lengzhai or netmatrix, so please don't flame me without any concrete reason. Alright, let's move on.

KFC has recently released something "new" on the menu. Yes, I will explain why I put up the quotation marks on the word. It's the Cheesy Mushroom Crunch, which claims that it's "tasty beyond words". But how far? Here are some of the ads for the meal before I move on.

Alright, let's put it to the taste buds. Here's how it looked like in real life(sorry for the photo quality):

The sauce:

And how it looked like once dipped inside:

Enough with that, let's talk about how I felt with the selection. What I knew was that it's Snack Plat, except that the bun was ditched in favor for the sauce, which most people would protest. The sauce wasn't any close to that, but mind you, ads lie 90% of the time. Not to say it's not cheese, but the consistency and the taste were more towards mushroom soup, which is not much of a difference, but with a tinge of cheese. Which explains the quotation marks on the word 'new'.

So what can I conclude from here? This isn't too shabby, but if it taste more, then it's more like it. After all, the KFC on Giant BBT does deliver well on it. What can I recommend, was that you should try having it with Hot and Spicy chicken and Thai chili sauce to make it better. And yes, I am rushing to make it, so expect something more later on.

Najib: Opposition spreading rumours to divide Umno

Saturday, 10 December 2016 | MYT 9:32 PM
Najib: Opposition spreading rumours to divide Umno

BY NICHOLAS CHENG

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic) has accused the Opposition of creating a fake letter claiming that Umno leaders are calling for his resignation.

A picture of a supposed letter by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi calling for Najib to step down made its rounds on social media over the weekend.

Najib said he believes the letter came from the Opposition, who he accused of being "envious" of how well Umno's recent General Assembly went.

"So it’s not surprising that they are now spreading rumours in an attempt to undermine my close relationship with the Deputy Prime Minister. Perhaps they are mistaking his character with some former party members, who were driven by personal interest, not the party or national interest," he said in a statement on Staurday.

He said that his political Opponents were "so desperate" that they were resorting to tactics to apparently divide Umno and to "ally themselves with the man who jailed their own leaders", referring to former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He went on to urge Umno members to be wary of "dirty tactics" by the Opposition. "They are envious of the total solidarity within Umno and Barisan Nasional," he said.

Barisan, on its official portal, pointed out that the purported fake letter contained the slogan "Demi Malaysia yang lebih baik" which is Parti Pribumi Persatu Malaysia's slogan.

Desperate Sauce

But if he himself is desperate, doesn't it make him just as bad as the opposition? I mean, he also did jail them and he also did use dirty tactics, am I right? I am not jealous of him; it's probably that he is still on that sha-la-la mood. And yes, start defending him like he's the God if you want to bash me.

Where can I buy Xiaomi Redmi 3s

Yes, I know that I looked like a dupe for asking this, since when I ask this kind of question, I didn't get to realize my wish (well other than maybe getting myself a Wacom Intuos Draw Small). But I think I have a good plan for myself to buy myself a Xiaomi Redmi 3s this January. The only problem is that I don't know where can I buy a Xiaomi Redmi 3s in Klang. Anyone knows where can I buy one of these in Klang? I might do it if I have the money and my parents approved it.

Again, sorry in advance if I act like a dupe again.

If I say that, will you feel angry?

Well, if I said, "Some Malays are sensitive, power-hungry and overprotective," will any of you feel angry. Because I can't totally brain something; voting for opposition equates to death of Malaysia and Malays and the legacy. What kind of logic is that?

Najib stands by Sosma, other security laws

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today said he will not apologise for introducing the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act, or Sosma, amid criticism of its use to detain an activist.

He said such legislation was needed to allow authorities to deal with the threat of the Islamic State terrorist group, also called Daesh, promptly.

“In some countries in the past, it was not an offence to support Daesh, nor to travel abroad for terrorist-military training. They have had to rush to bring in new laws.

“[So] let me be clear, I make no apology for making the security and safety of all Malaysians my first priority by passing Sosma, the Prevention of Terrorism Act and National Security Council Act,” he said when opening the KL International Youth Discourse at PWTC.

Najib added that while the force of legislation was necessary, prevention through education must also be given equal emphasis.

“We have set up the Regional Digital Counter-Messaging Centre to synchronise efforts to counter radical social media messages and to present the true image of Islam, within Asean and beyond.

“We have formulated a special rehabilitation module that has been so successful that it has been translated into three languages — Arabic, English and French — so that other countries can make use of our expertise,” he said.

Najib said over 100 people had gone through a deradicalisation programme devised by the government, and fewer than ten relapsed.

The one-day youth discourse is aimed at discussing current threats related to national security through various topics and a dialogue session between youths and lawmakers.

Police invoked the Sosma to detain Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah for 28 days without trial last week.

Putrajaya was criticised over the move, and accused of reneging on its pledge never to use the law against political dissent.

- See more at: http://www.themalaymailonline.com/malaysia...h.0KROWmDw.dpuf

(I am not paid by anyone whatsoever to put up this post.
Questions about life #3

Well time for another set of questions.

1. Any chance that this country can get back to its feet?
2. Is this country beautiful?
3. Is it normal to have fear of growing old?
4. Do you think I am getting involved in politics too much? That, I mean engaging in political discussions and voicing out concern.
