I have decided to download the site to my local windows machine and use Webmatrix to develop using PHP. Long Story short, I have downloaded the site with all the php.config files. And when I run the site locally using Webmatrix, I get anerror saying it cannot connect to the database on asphostportal.

I don't understand why this is happening. I have an asp.net website running locally and it is hitting a DB on a RackSpace server just fine.

I have tried all the IP addresses asphostportal has for this site. Every hostname and user/pass. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

How do I connect my local wordpress site in Webmatrix to a mysql DB on asphostportal? beckademetria Content Creators, Blogmasters & Webmasters Mon, 17 Sep 2018 13:28:14 +0800 http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3679040 I have been putting off and off re-starting my blog, since quitting blogger. I think wordpress is the best, but as far as hosting goes, I know most seem to prefer asphostportal.com and I will probably go with that one. But for a few more choices, which is easiest, most efficient and invaluable for your blog? I want to pick the best one? I know there is also Dreamhost, one called Ipage Hosting, which I had been looking into and bluehost. Has anyone had any experience with those for hosting or is asphostportal totally the best hands down? Thanks everyone, I appreciate all's advice. beckademetria Content Creators, Blogmasters & Webmasters Thu, 13 Aug 2015 13:41:18 +0800
