Technologists vs engineers

My sister took a technology diploma and now she's going to take a technology degree.

She said this will make her a "competent engineer".

I don't get this? I thought in order to become an engineer you're going to need an engineering degree, not a technology degree?

She said I'm wasting my time trying to score STPM to enter an engineering school.

Thoughts?

Calculator for STPM

Can I bring calculators more advanced than the standard fx570 into the examination hall for STPM?

A graphing calculator maybe?

I'm thinking about an ES though, seems good.

Can STPM be my ticket overseas?

I'm taking STPM, science stream. If I score well in STPM and MUET, will the gomen sponsor me to study overseas? Or do they not do that anymore?
