PCI-e 1.0 and 2.0 confusion

hi, i'm quite a noob when it comes to hardware..
i'm currently using a Biostar TForce 550 mobo.. which only supports PCI-e x16 1.0a ..
i'm thinking of buying a Gigabyte GeForce 8800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI-Express 2.0 graphic card..
the problem is that graphic card uses PCI-e 2.0 but my mother board is only 1.0a compliant..
can i still be using the graphic card or it is rendered as useless if i buy it...
would really appreciate your help on this...

hi..i have a biostar TForce 550 motherboard and a asus extreme ax550 graphic card ... ram is 1 gig ...
the problem with this is that i lag in Dota... my fren told me wit that specs, dota cant be lag..
i need help coz whenever i play dota for half an hour, it started to lag... and i'm not sure wat is the problem..

please help anyone out there... thanks
