MCO Lover beware,

KUALA LUMPUR (July 7): The Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC) warned today that the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector – which accounts for close to 40% of Malaysia’s gross domestic product – could collapse, should the current nationwide lockdown continue indefinitely.

Based on a survey conducted by the ministry, an estimated 580,000 businesses or 49% of the MSME sector, are at risk of failing by October, if they are not allowed to resume operations by then.

This would also mean more than seven million Malaysians may lose their jobs. And assuming each worker has an average of two dependents, it would mean some 14 million people will be affected by this situation. MEDAC minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the situation is dire and there is an urgent need to come up with the right remedial actions to address the issue.

A failure to resolve the matter would result in a devastating impact to the country’s socio-economic landscape, which will subsequently affect the overall wellbeing and happiness of the rakyat.

“If we don’t do something to help them now, I am worried that many of these MSME will fail and will not be around to help rebuild the economy, once businesses are allowed to open.

“I am also worried that failure of these MSME businesses due to the prolonged lockdown will create a domino effect, hitting societies hard at the core, leading to a more serious social and economic impact,” he said in a statement today.

The survey was conducted between June 15 and 28, aimed at gauging the impact of the Movement Control Order 3.0 (MCO 3.0) on the entrepreneurship landscape.

A total of 6,664 respondents nationwide took part in the survey, which found that many businesses are suffering from “business fatigue” syndrome and declining confidence as a result of the lockdown.

One-third of respondents said they did not receive the various assistance introduced by the government.

The survey also found that mental issues were also among areas of concern, as nearly 60% of entrepreneurs were suffering from at least one form of mental health condition amid the lockdown.

Top three factors affecting their mental health include the decline and loss of income, debt and financing issues, as well as risk of business closure.

Many entrepreneurs are concerned about their future, thus contributing to higher stress levels, which affect their mental wellbeing.

“The impact of the lockdown is not only affecting the economic aspect but also the social aspect as well. I am concerned that the longer businesses are not allowed to operate, the longer it will take to recover.

“People are becoming increasingly unhappy. They are unhappy because of financial issues, as well as not being able to socialise. It is time we look at other holistic measures on how to deal with this, other than lockdown,” added Wan Junaidi.

Source: https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/mini...stTejluCu-cAHsA

Which coin you feel is suspicious or is giving you off uneasy vibes due to its tech / structure etc etc

To me

Ripple / xrp - XRP is a good currency and its technological uses are great , however the ppl managing it (ripple) are pretty horrible considering whatever they have done indicted by the SEC (read the claims if you are confused as to what happened ) which shows that the ripple team is basically just trying to manipulate the market (give out xrp to ppl and claim that big companies are using it as part of their transaction).

Haven't heard the other side of the coin but I do have my doubts about the coin.

Share your thoughts on coins that might give you the same vibe!

Sudden increase in sweat

Hi guys,

Since the start of mco I've been implementing some workouts and healthy eating habits to sort of improve myself. A lil background, I have never been considerable fat my weight hovers between 65kg - 72 kg , im about 175 cm tal. I use to teach kids swim lessons and do runs and gym a little but prior to the start of MCO I have not been exercising for over a year so the start of MCO has been sort of a new beginning for me.

Fast forward to a year + my habits have grown and I now do roughly 4 km runs twice a week couple with once or twice per week of weight training. I noticed something weird,I've recently started sweating profusely as well as during very light activity exertions such as walking slightly far or even doing the most light activities I would sweat, anybody have any idea why this is happening? Like I can be lifting some boxes or cooking, even being in a slightly warm room and before you know it I'll be sweating pretty significantly.

I should also mention I have stopped vaping for 3 weeks now coming off a 2 year habit of heavy vaping.

What lies ahead for SMEs

Hi guys,

Just wanted to vent on our current unhappiness with the MCO situation. As far as I see it SME purveyors are caught between a rock and a hard place.

We would like to advocate for MCO to end COVID and curb infectivity rate however we trade our livelihood and earning potential to help end this infection yet our government enforces half assed rules that will end up hurting SMES in the long run.

Rules such as open night market, these rules although may seem to help on the surface, but how many other businesses that have to stay close due to this MCO , and with a half assed approach to curbing the infection what we can see it is that it will only result in more MCO extensions. A lot of businesses , myself included are stuck on the fence of how to proceed in the coming months. Yes a lot of ppl will argue and say if u dont innovate or move towards new frontiers we will be left behind ,yet not everyone is fortunate to just uproot their business or work to move on to greener or newer pastures.

All the money and resources sink into our one way of trying to make a living yet currently stuck in a perpetual limbo.

To all SME owners , come vent your frustrations and to everyone else, pls support your local businesses as much as you can , you never know if today will be the last day you will be stepping foot into their store.

Coming up with Salary package

Hi Guys,

I am getting a bit anxious as my new employer mentioned that they are coming up with a salary package in a day or 2 to see if I am agreeable to it.

The last I heard from them was Monday and its been 3 days since and I haven't heard anything.

Just wanted to know has anyone experienced the same kind of delay and if anyone else is familiar with how this is worked out in companies?

I understand that they probably are drafting the offer and it is awaiting an approval from the Head of Department but its weird that they have not contacted me about it and I am getting a little strung out. The whole application process has taken me 2 months and frankly I am just getting anxious about the whole thing. Anybody has similar experiences whereby they were promised a salary package for consideration and it never materialized?

Would be great to speak to someone in HR that can give me some feedback in regards to the whole process or walk me through some possible explanations in regards to a delay on this.

One Soho vs Neo Damansara

Hey Guys, Have been looking at some condo options as an own stay basis and have come up with two choices which I quite like. I was looking at empire damansara prior to this but heard the horrendous reviews about the management and have decided to stay away accordingly.

My 2 choices are Neo Damansara DP and One Soho SS19 , they both have pros and cons to me but being quite inexperienced in the industry any seasoned investors or buyers that can share their insights would be much appreciated.

I love the duplex concept of SOHO SS19 but at the same time the location does hinder some of its appeal. It will be used for own stay for a couple of years so factoring in maintenance (quality of management) as well as capital growth. Which do you seasoned investors believe is a better buy?

Do list your pros and cons as to why you think it's the better choice. Thanks guys
