As per the title. Will you consider TB 3 is a must when you want to purchase a laptop now. I have a dilemma, whether to get TB3 or just get a laptop with DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.0. Spending extra RM 1000 make sense ? original budget is 3.5k-4k.

Min requirements for a laptop to run a 4k external

Hi there, i did some research but i still want to clear by doubts by asking these question. As i don't play game, it helps to curb my budget significantly especially involving 4k external display. I use my laptop and the external monitor mainly for Web Broswing, Netflix and occasional photo editing for my travel photograph (RAW files-Nikon D810).
Currently, i am using Intel i3 3rd generations with a 23 inch Full HD external monitor. Which recently my laptop performance is dreadful and it will switch off itself now and then. Therefore, i have decided to upgrade all my existing hardware including the monitor, with a curbed budget of course ( RM4000 - for Laptop). I come down with few choices, that my laptop got to have at least one of these ports:

1. DP/DP over USB Type-C , or
2. Thunder Bolt 3 with alt display mode, or
3. HDMI 2.0 ( last resort)

So these are my questions, what should i choose ?

1. A laptop with i5/i7 10th Gen without discreet graphics (Intel Integrated)?

2. A laptop with i5/i7 10th Gen with discreet graphics (MX250). 3. I noticed some of the laptop dont have the a dedicated power input, but they do have a display port/power delivery over USB Type C. As per the topic, where can i find cheap and reliable gearbox repair for my Proton Wira 1.6 n KL/Cheras area. This is the 2nd time i change the gearbox. Is it better to add and ATF cooler to expand the lifespan of the gearbox. Please recommend me a good one. Desperately need one.

Is this laptop worth buying for ?

Mainly i just used it for Lightroom/PS , occasionally Premiere Pro. No Gaming ( May be Yes . after buying this laptop , but not really interested into gaming.

i am not gonna bring my laptop around always , so my first choice of more on performance cpu ( Intel H Series) gaming laptop, it might last me for 3-5 years ( i am not a professional photographer, just travel 3 times per year and shoot a lot of photos which made me realise my cheap plug 4th generation i3 cpu and pretty useless amd 2gb which cost me RM 1500 which i bought at 2013

I will upgrade the RAM and add on SSD and and plan to add an extra monitor 27 inch (in future).

Budget RM 3k - 3.5k ( exclude RAM and SSD upgrade) .

ANY RECOMMENDATION EXCEPT THIS ONE.

Hi all ,

I am just helping my friends to promote her ( Haan) new book here, she is one of my best friend, whom inspired me a lot , she is a project manager and quit her job to travel for few years.
She had been traveled to 70+ countries , she been through ups and downs, travel alone in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh and China , she is the most audacious , adventurous and
ambitious women i have ever known.

She will definitely inspire you to step out of your comfort zone, know the world, see the world , not by reading and listening to mainstream media, but to explore the world by yourself.

She used a lot of time to prepare this book, by backing this project, she does not have to go through Publisher or Book Store like Popular , Author ended up getting RM 2-3 per books

However, her books are in Chinese, so any of you who knows how to read Chinese , you are welcome to back this project.
There are only so few women in Malaysia have the courage to backpack alone throughout Asia, couch-surfing with knowing the risk she is taking , so i just asking you guys to share it to your friends and family, even you are not

Not sure this is the right place to post this question. I am looking a for a piece of rectangular wood like this below, i just want to place my mattress on top of the wood. You know there is an old saying, do not sleep directly on top of the floor, our body will absord the moisture and cause arthritis when you get older.

Laptop - TV - Home Theather Set Up

I try to search Lowyat forum, i think this is the right place to open my thread.

Ok , i am looking for a really budget setup for my kind of own home theater system.

I have a laptop , now i am thinking my laptop and 19 inch desktop monitor which i connected to my laptop which provide more pleasant viewing display, and yet this doesn't fulfill my wants anymore. it is simply not big enough.

Here is how i want my setup is, i want my Laptop ( 1 HDMI port ) connected to the LED TV Below ( HDMI x 1 , USB x 1 ) ,
and home theater system connect to my laptop / tv ? i have done some of my research online, well , it seems not every home theater have audio input or output. Anyway i could not understand anyone that, someone who pro enough and kind enough to guide me ? how should i do the whole set up.

I am kind of scared that if i purchase those things below and i cannot set up the whole things , such as insufficient of HDMI port , i knew some of the home theater they use HDMI to connect TV .
