Bad Car Workshop / Car service (NOT RECOMMENDED)

BAD workshop, service centre and spray work

BF Malaysia Auto Spray & Services (979037-X)
1, USJ 1/6C, 47620 Subang Jaya, Selangor

* Just a note that: the BF Auto Spray under Peter Oh at Jalan TS6/5, Taman Perindustrian (that does only body works and have good reviews) operate independently and workshop employers and standards are separate from each other, they just use the same company name due to family ties.

On 21 March 2015, I brought my car to the BF Malaysia Auto Spray & Services (979037-X) workshop - Address: 1, USJ 1/6C - because it had some power issues and also to have it repainted. At the first visit, I spoke personally to the owner, William, and he referred me to his mechanic, Borman, who was also the assistant manager of BF Malaysia Auto Spray & Services. At my next visit, the owner, William, quoted me a lower price for exterior and interior painting. The next day, William called me and mentioned that the quotation he gave was too low as his mechanic re-quoted a a higher price, and this clearly shows additionally that the workshop is being run mainly by his mechanic, Borman. I seeked advice from Borman (the mechanic) on how to increase the power in my car as I mentioned it lacks power going uphill. He suggested that a full check be done and that engine has to be removed to do inspection. He showed me parts that needed to be changed and advised on what to fix and what parts to replace. I consented and trusted that he knew better.

The first problem: Spray work wasn't done properly under the bonnet and at many parts (it looked like a rushed job where paint wasn't given enough time to dry), and also you could see the top protective layer wasn't polished smoothly (Borman claimed that usually paint work doesn't include the smoothing of the paint work and that customers would bring it elsewhere to polish - this is not true after enquiring a few paint workshops), he did it however and made it seem like an extra favour. He kept coming up with the excuse: "It's like that, you go any workshop also it's like that." or "How to make money like that if I do everything?". Then you shouldn't have said it is for exterior and interior painting, that's called cheating when you give customer's the perception interior and exterior will be done well with the given price. The boot wasn't painted as well. I just let that go with the tons of excuses Borman gave. Secondly, there were many other problems I found with my doors and engine after the car was returned. I had to fix many things myself and I just let it go as Borman constantly gave many excuses to avoid taking responsibility.

A few days after collecting my car and paying for the services in full, I realised my car had more problems and the tyres were shaking when doing turns. I returned to the workshop and told William about the said problem and asked to have it rectified. He told me that he had fired Borman (his mechanic who had repaired my car) because he found out that Borman was cheating the company and had been using old and/unoriginal car spare parts in the car repairs. William further claimed that he was not responsible for the problems (e.g for the spare parts that were spoiled within 2 months) as I had been liaising with Borman, and not him. He even shouted at me to defend himself and therefore refused to further look into the existing problem, to correct the problems or give me any refund and told me to go elsewhere to fix my car problem. He was very unreasonable and unprofessional. As the employer, William should be vicariously liable and responsible for the car repairs. This is because I had hired BF Malaysia Auto Spray & Services to repair my car, and not his mechanic personally. I have spent a huge amount fixing my car diagnosing the problems at other workshops and also it has taken up a lot of time travelling back and forth to get my car problems fixed. I felt very cheated by BF Malaysia Auto Spray & Services at 1, USJ 1/6C how unprofessional the owner William was and I would want everyone to be aware of these low-standard workshops that will cause you more problems.
