How I found this group and how they work?

I found this trading WhatsApp group through a Facebook ad offering free stock tips and recovery if there is any loss. They also give prizes on check-ins and participation in WhatsApp group.

The investment consultant on WhatsApp who added to the main WhatsApp group is Catherine.

Catherine is an investment consultant for a Korean Company called Mirae Asset, setting up in Malaysia

Whatsapp group named Momentum SIP had 83 people in it

Their investment plan is 300% commission with a 20% service fee achieved through day trading and special institutional purchases with their partner, Ascend Asia

What is CMBI invesmtent Group?

An investment group with the website https://sg.cmbi.com/en-US/ and trading app on Apple Store and Play Store called CMBI pro. They claim to be affiliated with China Merchant Bank

How are they operating?

I clicked on a FB ad and came to whatsapp chat where i was added to a whatsapp group by Audrey the main handler. (update: blurred the photo as its apparantely copied from somewhere online)

Whatsapp group has 179 members

They are promoting a 570% profit plan where the investor can take out money and then pay their commission

Their reward system. they paid out till 15 days check in

Brief Description of Aureston Capital Trading Scheme

The team, led by investment gurus Elice and Thorian Chen, claims to be part of Aureston Capital, an investment company based in the USA. They first provide investment tips on WhatsApp and agree to cover 80% of your loss and allow you to trade on other apps like Moomoo. After some time, they will offer an incentive to join their "Aurst" App, which is available on Google and the App Store. They allow you to extract profit, and then if you subscribe to an IPO or FPO, they will confiscate your account. It seems Thorian Chen has profiles on some finance websites.

How did the person get scammed?

This guy had read the posts about scams on Lowyat and avoided subscribing to IPO. One day he subscribes to the daily trading, and suddenly IPO transactions show up in his logs. Elice replies by saying that since the timestamp is near the day trading activity, the user must have subscribed and they have to pay upfront for the subscription to get their account access back

Disclaimer: I am posting on behalf of another person who reached out after reading the Gexertmax scam post. They were scammed a bit differently. Please make your own investment decisions. Also, if anyone has been scammed for IPO/FPO similarly please send me details to my inbox, as I know no one wants to post publicly that they got scammed

How was the person scammed?

He came across a Facebook ad for investment and followed the ad to WhatsApp chat where he was invited to a free investment advice group. He followed stock tips made money and then they invited him to download the Stifleone app available on both the App Store and Google Play Store. They show registration and trading license (no file available) and also mentioned affiliation with the Stifel .com investment company, coming to Malaysia.

Who was the scammer? And how did they scam

The group is led by Ruth Khoo and Kelvin Lee

He was able to invest in daily trading and even extract the profits from time to time. Then Ruth started pushing for IPO/FPO. Ruth mentioned that in case of non-payment, there will be an impact on CTOS, credit rating, no penalties, and when he was unable to subscribe,e they completely froze the account and asked for upfront payment. Gexertmax - NHG International - Scam or not?

Posting for a friend as he is embarrassed of the scam and for the sake of potential scam victims

Gexertmax is registered company in labuan and claims to have a trading license from SEC Malaysia. This broker offers crypto trading

For my friend they were letting him withdraw from daily trading but then they lured him to ICO and mentioned that he needs to pay upfront commission before getting the profit out.

My suggestion would be to stay away. I can provide more info in the comments if needed.
