Landed or Condo?

Nowadays living in landed properties I find there are a few drawbacks:

1. Buying older landed properties the sewage system wasn't properly designed, thus those older designs with sewage pipes going to the back of the house is a problem especially since many owners extended the back and Indah Water cannot access the pipes to do maintenance if need be.

2. Because of the above some older landed property development drains overflow during heavy rain, and sewage sometimes also rises with the water.

3. Pest control feels like a futile effort especially for link houses, if I do pest control but my neighbours do not and don't keep their house/garden clean there will be alot of pest roaming around.

4. Unless everyone agrees to barricade the main entry/exit and station security there most landed properties do not have any form of security.

Though the biggest plus point of a landed property would be

1. No monthly maintenance -- if you don't feel like it or no money then no need do pest control, paint the house, repairs, etc.

2. Better freedom to renovate, especially end lot/corners nowadays I see they hammer them down and rebuild from scratch treating it like a semi-d.

3. Pet ownership is allowed.

4. Better resale value.

Recently, I've been thinking instead of buying landed I should buy some older condo's with bigger sqft and rooms. Of course the condo needs to have good maintenance, pest control and security.

EDIT: so everyone doesn't go off topic lets keep it to a 1M budget within SJ/PJ/KL area.
