This is a (Hopefully) a revival of the O2 XDAII Mini Lovers CLUB V3 thread since there's no updtaes in the 1st page

Wiki details: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?p...me=HTC_Magician

1. Windows Mobile 6.1 now possible. Use this site to get the ROM's from Cotulla LATEST ROM: HTCMAG_ROM_WWE_O4

http://www.cotulla.pp.ru/Magician.html

Please follow developer's install instructions (Warning, next version maybe for 128Mb Magician's only)

Fixes for Cotulla's ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=493611

All other apps meant for WM6.1 are more then likely to work as long .NET CE required is no newer then v2.01

If you're facing trouble of your PDA shutting down or hanging, try using the batclear to reprogram the battery memory level or change your housing

By right it's recommended that you flash the ROM in XP but if you can't find an XP running com, here's the workaround

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

1. Connect your device when it's in bootloader.
2. Open Windows Mobile Device Center and in connection settings uncheck Allow USB Connections
3. Go to contol panel -> administrative tools -> services and start "Windows Mobile Device Connectivity" and "Windows Mobile Device 2003 Connectivity"
4. Go to device manager and find your device and update the driver to the one from http://mahmood1.com/Documents/USBAS.rar The driver is wceusbsh.inf.
5. Then, kill wmdc.exe with any taskmanager

Then try upgrading your rom.

2. If you're itching to use Manila 2D (Warning, you're gonna be out of RAM for other apps very quickly): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...326#post3465326

3. If you're a SPB Mobile Shell user, there's a mod for it here: http://www.imarche.net/omnia/index.php

3. Linux based OS is rumoured to be in the works but at the moment it's still in developement stage

4. Useful apps and tit-bits still available from V2 here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/336400

5. Please do not ask if WM6.5 ROM's are out yet, it's still in beta stage and Atom users are having problems loading

6. For ALL ROM flashings, please use XP to perform it. Seems Vista's USB drivers in bootloader incompatible but try PM'ing me for the driver which may or may not work (Haven't tested it)

7. Hack to ensure Active Sync doesn't keep loading up for no reason

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

1. Go to Start > Programs > Activesync. This will open the Activesync program.
2. Tap Menu at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. This will bring up the Options Menu. Notice the option Schedule... is greyed out? This is the all-critical option we need to get access to. But as it's disabled we can't change Activesync's default synchronisation schedule.

Ok, so how do we enable the Schedule option? Easy!!! Fool Activesync into thinking there is an Exchange Server to sync with:

1. From Activesync's Menu tap on Add Server Source.
2. In the following screens you can enter any old garbage. It does not matter, but just in case your unsure, just type the following in the indicated boxes:

Server Address: fake
Tap Next
User name: fake
Password: fake
Domain: fake
(Ticking save password or going into the Advanced menu makes no difference, so no need to bother).
Tap Next
Untick all of the 'Data you want to synchronise' options
Tap Finish

3. Ok, we're done creating the server. You should now see in Activesync's main screen your normal Activesync connection(s), and a new connection called Exchange Server.
4. Go back into the Menu, and lo and behold the Schedule option is now enabled! Go ahead and tap it!
5. You will see that both options in the Schedule screen are set to Every 5 Minutes (A01 Rom), or Every 10 Minutes (A06 Rom). This simply will not do! ( * Advanced users - please see my note below * )
6. Using the drop downs, change both the Peak times and Off-peak times boxes to Manually.
7. Press the OK button at the top right of the screen.

Congratulations! Activesync is now gagged from opening on it's own and ruining your life! Your work is not done just yet though - time to clean up and get rid of the now unwanted fake Exchange Server.

1. Go back into Activesync's Menu, then Tap Options.
2. Highlight Exchange Server, then tap Delete. A warning message will appear about removing files etc, but as you have no files associated with the fake Exchange Server, it's nothing to worry about - just tap Ok.
3. The list will now only show your remaining PC Sync connection(s). Obviously do not delete these!

After you sync your PDA with a PC and have removed it from the dock, you must manually close ActiveSync on your pda or it will remain running and defeat the purpose of the fake exchange server hack (n.b. if you are not using a 3rd party program that will close apps permanently e.g. Magic Button or Wisbar, you will need to go to Start > Settings > System > Memory > Running Programs and Stop it manually). This could be why some people have had no luck with the hack.

Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...ke+server+trick

Recommened apps

Google earth : http://www.google.com/gmm/GoogleMaps.CAB

Windows Mobile Live: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/mob...load-en-us.mspx (Use your PDA's browser to get it, if you can't, PM me)

Yahoo GO!: http://mobile.yahoo.com/yahoo/application (due to be available May 09')

xiaojin85's Wireless Manager (Enhanced): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=536582

More to be added later

List of Users
1. almostthere

Darn good guide this un...

For those who've always wanted to strike a good balance of raw clock speed and bandwidth, read on

QUOTE

Motherboard designers, memory manufacturers, and proprietors of performance hardware have been working hard to make modern system overclocking absolutely easy. Intel - central to all of this and largely responsible for what we here at The Tech Repository would call the "Golden Era of Overclocking" - is moving faster than ever in a effort to openly and publicly embrace the online enthusiast community. Even though this rush of progress is truely satisfying, the flash of recent success has left a somewhat rather large void of comprehension. Like with so many things in life, there must be a distinction between mere accomplishment and fundamental understanding. If your overclocking goals include nothing more than the desire for the absolute highest CPU clock speed possible then this article isn't for you. But if you want to know more about what really makes a great performance system, then we invite you to read on. The satisfaction of true accomplishment awaits.

When we last talked about memory we ended our investigation on a rather incomplete note. As you may recall, we lightly explored memory frequency and timings - focusing mainly on one of the more domineering specifications, CAS - and noted how several settings must co-exist in establishing what can prove to be a rather significant factor in overall system memory access latency. If you're not familiar with the concept of converting a relative memory timing rating to an actual time delay then you should review our earlier post (linked above) before continuing. Much of this article will build upon this seemingly innocuous abstraction.

Caught this on The Tech Repository's forums and it's one of the most useful guides and tool ever seen. Too bad it's for only Intel users. I'm saving a copy of the tool and the guide itself.

http://www.thetechrepository.com/showthread.php?t=195

Kudos to Kris @ freecableguy for busting his gut doing this guide
Once again, Nagata-"smokey"-san has done again. This time his Tokyo Auto Salon ace was his v12 twin turbo Supra with totally wicked body-kit. From the publications I've read, the job was totally customized, particularly the engine bay to fit the twin turbo's, the mating of the Supra's 6 speed Getrag tranny to the Century's engine, new throttle body which dispensed the the electronic TB of the Century for 2 Pulsar N15 TB's, custom radiator's which are fitted at the back (Similiar to the Group B Audi Quattro). BitTyrant is...

    * Fast - During evaluation testing on more than 100 real BitTorrent swarms, BitTyrant provided an average 70% download performance increase when compared to the existing Azureus 2.5 implementation, with some downloads finishing more than three times as quickly.
    * Fair - BitTorrent was designed with incentives in mind: if a user is downloading at 30 KBps, they should upload at 30 KBps. However, due to the unique workload properties of many real-world swarms, this is not always enforced. BitTyrant is designed to make efficient use of your scarce upload bandwidth, rewarding those users whose upload allocations are fair and only allocating excess capacity to other users.
    * Familiar - BitTyrant is based on modifications to Azureus 2.5, currently the most popular BitTorrent client. All of our changes are under the hood. You'll find the GUI identical to Azureus, with optional additions to display statistics relevant to BitTyrant's operation.

QUOTE

FAQ
Q: How is BitTyrant different from existing BitTorrent clients?

BitTorrent differs from existing clients in its selection of which peers to unchoke and send rates to unchoked peers. Suppose your upload capacity is 50 KBps. If you've unchoked 5 peers, existing clients will send each peer 10 KBps, independent of the rate each is sending to you. In contrast, BitTyrant will rank all peers by their receive / sent ratios, preferentially unchoking those peers with high ratios. For example, a peer sending data to you at 20 KBps and receiving data from you at 10 KBps will have a ratio of 2, and would be unchoked before unchoking someone uploading at 10 KBps (ratio 1). Further, BitTyrant dynamically adjusts its send rate, giving more data to peers that can and do upload quickly and reducing send rates to others.
Q: Will BitTyrant work for cable / DSL users?

Yes. Although the evaluation in our paper focuses on users with slightly higher upload capacity than is typically available from US cable / DSL providers today, BitTyrant's intelligent unchoking and rate selection still improves performance for users with less capacity. All users, regardless of capacity, benefit from using BitTyrant.
Q: Won't BitTyrant hurt overall BitTorrent performance if everyone uses it?

This is a subtle question and is treated most thoroughly in the paper. The short answer is: maybe. A big difference between BitTyrant and existing BitTorrent clients is that BitTyrant can detect when additional upload contribution is unlikely to improve performance. If a client were truly selfish, it might opt to withhold excess capacity, reducing performance for other users that would have received it. However, our current BitTyrant implementation always contributes excess capacity, even when it might not improve performance. Our goal is to improve performance, not minimize upload contribution.

download here

Alternate DL server here

Feedback is welcome

IE7 skinning compatibillity issues

After I loaded JetBlack skin for WB5, I suddenly lost my tabs for IE7. Maybe it's because of some settings I messed about with. However after checking many sites for feedback, it seems it even occurs for StyleXP users too. Seems the current temporary fix is to add an exclusion in WB5 for IE7 which does return usabillity but seriously it's a real eyesore.

Any permanent aesthetically pleasing fix anyone?

Now with AM2 out and Conroe due in July, I think it's about time we started having a discussion and benches in terms of bandwidth for DDR2 modules. I've been searching around on the net and there hasn't been a properly collected DB of DDR2 overclocking.

Do share with us your results and screenies. Even if you're running it on P4

In order for a recognised database, please include links to CPU-Z's verification page for your rig and post screenshots of SiSoftware Sandra bandwidth test (Unbuffered)

Ranking will be done in terms of DRAM speeds obtained. Not processor clockspeeds or percentage of gain. However in the event of equal frequencies, I'd like a screenshot of bandwidth utilising preferably SiSoft's Sandra (Unbuffered)

1. pcmoddingmy: AMD 3000+ Orleans F2|DFI Infinity NF UltraII-M2|2 x OCZ 1GB PC2-8000 Titanium Alpha VX2@ 2.44v| DRAM: 540.8Mhz
2.
