Masyarakat Orang Asli di Gerik dilaporkan mendakwa kerajaan negeri Perak yang ditadbir Pakatan Harapan menceroboh tanah adat mereka untuk aktiviti pembalakan.

Hal ini terjadi meskipun dalam keadaan kerajaan persekutuan bertindak menyaman kerajaan Kelantan yang diterajui PAS mengenai isu pencerobohan tanah masyarakat Orang Asli di Gua Musang.

FMT telah menyiarkan laporan polis yang dibuat seorang tok batin dari Perak mengenai pencerobohan tersebut.

KUALA LUMPUR: The RM12mil allocation for Chinese independent schools announced under Budget 2019 will be issued next week by the Finance Ministry, says Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching.

“We have collected the bank account details of all schools.

“Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng will give out the funds next Friday at the New Era University College,” she said during the opening ceremony of Chong Hwa Independent High School Kuala Lumpur yesterday, which also saw the launch of Chong Hwa Square.

The 13-storey complex, which began construction in March 2016, was completed in conjunction with the school’s centennial celebration, marking a new milestone.

It consists of Chong Hwa Square, a lecture hall, a performance hall, a school history museum, an information centre, a library, a teacher and administrative office as well as a humanities, science and technology innovation centre.

Chong Hwa board of directors chairman Tan Sri Lim Keng Cheng said the project was tendered out at RM47mil.

“But we managed to reduce costs to RM32.5mil. It shows that we are able to use the funds efficiently,” he said.

He also announced plans for a sports complex, which would include an Olympic-size swimming pool.

“We plan to start constructing the complex on a 1.25ha piece of land behind the school.

“It is expected to be completed in three years and cost around RM20mil,” he said.

He said that they were currently trying to raise funds for the project.

There are over 5,000 students in the school, including those from Russia, China and South Korea.

Also present at the event were Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Hannah Yeoh, Cheras MP and Special Envoy to China Tan Kok Wai, Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng and a representative of Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun.

Tan said all five of them would each donate RM10,000 to Chong Hwa Independent High School.

Chong Hwa Independent High School principal Cheong Moey Lian said this year coincided with the school’s 100th anniversary.

There will be a series of celebrations this year, including the “Glorious Chong Hwa” Centenary Anniversary Gala on March 21, which will have a record 400 drummers, and a charity sale on Aug 31.

TEMERLOH: Seorang pelajar maut selepas motosikal ditunggangnya dirempuh kereta di Kilometer 27 Jalan Temerloh-Jerantut, dekat Kampung Datuk Shariff Ahmad, Kuala Krau, di sini, awal pagi tadi.

Dalam kejadian jam 2.50 pagi, mangsa Mohd Aiman Ngatimin, 17, pelajar Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK)Kuala Krau, di sini, maut di tempat kejadian selepas dilanggar Proton Persona dari arah belakang.

Ketua Polis Daerah Temerloh, Asisten Komisioner Zundin Mahmood berkata, siasatan awal mendapati pemandu kereta terbabit memandu di bawah pengaruh alkohol sebelum terbabit dalam kemalangan itu.

Beliau berkata, pemandu terbabit juga turut melanggar dua penunggang motosikal lain menyebabkan dua mangsa itu patah kaki kanan selain luka di beberapa bahagian badan.

“Kita boleh sahkan pemandu terbabit yang juga anggota tentera memandu di bawah pengaruh alkohol sebelum merempuh tiga motosikal menyebabkan seorang daripadanya meninggal dunia.

“Ketika kejadian jalan gelap dan jalan mempunyai lorong satu hala ke Jerantut dan satu hala lagi ke Temerloh,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan di sini, hari ini.

Katanya, mayat pelajar itu dibawa ke Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (HOSHAS) untuk tindakan lanjut.

Beliau berkata, keterangan pemandu berusia 29 tahun itu sudah diambil bagi membantu siasatan mengikut Seksyen 41 (1) Akta Pengangkutan Jalan 1987.

PRK PD | Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim malam ini berkata dalam nada jenaka bahawa beliau kini perlu berhati-hati dengan ucapannya kerana ada pihak yang "teropong" bagi memantaunya.

Calon Pakatan Harapan (HARAPAN) bagi pilihan raya kecil (PRK) Port Dickson itu berkata demikian ketika menghadiri majlis kutipan dana bagi kuil di Lukut malam ini.

"Saya tidak boleh umum apa-apa, orang teropong untuk tengok apa saya cakap," katanya disambut ketawa kira-kira 500 hadirin.

Anwar juga menyentuh tentang pengumuman program e-tuisyen percuma untuk sekolah minggu lalu.

"Ada pihak yang mempersoalkan sama ada ia cubaan membeli undi, tapi program ini akan diteruskan meskipun saya kalah. Tapi jangan bagi saya kalah lah," katanya.

Bagaimanapun, Anwar menambah, beliau mengalu-alukan media bebas era Malaysia bari di bawah Pakatan Harapan.

Turut hadir Menteri Pengangkutan Anthony Loke, ADUN Lukut Choo Ken Hwa dan ADUN Sri Tanjung M Ravi.

Dalam ucapannya, Loke mengumumkan peruntukan RM10,000 untuk pembinaan Kuil Xi Tian Niang Niang yang memerlukan sekurang-kurangnya RM3 juta untuk siap sepenuhnya.
