hi everyone. i think my hdd just died this afternoon cuz i can't even boot up windows. i'm using windows xp sp1 but the problem is there's an error message which said "primary hard disk read fail". i supposed the hdd can't function anymore but i'm just wondering whether there's any way to recover those data in the hdd. i want to salvage as much data as possible from that drive. i found this program called getbackdata which has really good reviews but i'm not sure if it really works. any suggestion? btw, my hdd is maxtor 40gb...i think it's an ATA drive cuz i bought it 5 years ago.
