Gibson Innovations is proud to introduce the ultra-sleek yet powerful Philips HTL7140B soundbar speaker. With superior attention to design coupled with innovative technology, this soundbar is set to surprise and captivate listeners.

At just 38mm high and 54mm deep, it’s incredibly slim yet boasts 5.1 channel sound far more immersive than its size would suggest. It is no wonder that it is codenamed ‘Katana’ after the traditional Japanese sword.

Contrary to most of the soundbars with 2.1 channels, HTL7140B’s 5.1 channel is built with six amplifiers to deliver greater sound quality. The 5.1 system uses the same speaker channels and configuration, having a front left and right, a center channel, two surround channels and a subwoofers. Coupled with the precisely 45° angled tweeters and Philips proprietary Ambisound technology, the HTL7140B could create a sound stage that is much wider than its own length.

The Philips HTL7140B soundbar speaker also includes a wireless subwoofer with 8” woofer for impactful bass and clutter-free placement. The result is a truly immersive and 5.1 channel sound with an impressive 320W of power that could fill any room. Listeners will be amazed with the quality and size of the sound projecting from this soundbar.

The Philips HTL7140B soundbar speaker supports HDMI 1.4 4K displays that empower high-end home theater systems in the similar sphere which is used by many commercial movie theaters. This standard of display support also enables Philips HTL7140B to be sustainable in future technologies.

The Philips HTL7140B now is available nationwide with a recommended retail price of RM 2,331 ( Inclusive of GST ).

Celebrate Hari Raya Online, Securely

Hari Raya is upon us and have you completed the tasks in your checklist? Lock and secure your house before balik kampung has to be one of the main items in your checklist. None of us would want to have a sense of loss and distress during festive season. However, aside from securing physical properties, it is very important to take measures to avoid becoming the victim of a holiday cyber criminal activities as well.

According to statistic, online products delivered via virtual store has risen tremendously from 29 million in 2011 to staggering 40 million in 2013. The spike was recorded between 25-30% during Ramadan especially during the last two weeks before Hari Raya.

The peak of online activities during festive season, inevitably, will attract cyber criminals to unleash their criminal activities. That is why Kaspersky Lab, one of the world’s fastest-growing cybersecurity companies and the largest that is privately-owned, is sharing some of useful tips to keep you save and sound during this Hari Raya with its award-winning security solution products.

Deceitful greeting cards

We will be delighted to receive colorful Hari Raya e-cards that are cute, funny and even animated. But be aware that behind these e-cards may harbour hidden Trojan software. You could receive a message that looks as though it were sent by a legitimate vendor. Normally, this e-card will ask you to download an attachment that, at first sight, appears safe and trustworthy. In reality, it is a Trojan that infects your PC and waits until you try to use your banking credentials online. Then it will show you a popup window suggesting that you verify or update your billing info. If you do it, your allocations for Hari Raya celebration will become empty.

By installing effective anti-malware software, you can defend your PC and even your smartphones against Trojans. A rigorous anti-malware such as Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 will detect and prevent Trojan attacks on your PC, while Kaspersky Mobile Security can deliver world-class virus protection for Android smartphones.

The price of compassion

Hari Raya is all about giving and caring. An e-mail in your inbox asking to send some donations to orphanage homes and old folks homes is common during festive season. Some of them may be scam letters sent by frauds. You would be very lucky if these cybercrime did not drain your entire bank account after you sent them money.

The fraudulent email may also contain some suspicious links which are often some ‘spelling mistakes’ in the website’s address. Eventually, these links will lead you to a phishing website-a spoofed site which tries to steal your account password or other confidential information by tricking you into believing you are on a legitimate website.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2015’s advanced anti-phishing technologies proactively detect fraudulent URLs and use real-time information from the cloud, to help to ensure you are not tricked into disclosing your valuable data to phishing websites.

Beware of public Wi-Fi

Back to kampung but there’s no Wi-Fi available. The most common solution is to go to the nearest coffee shop with Wi-Fi connectivity. However, did you know one can intercept your emails, passwords, credit card numbers and more easily if you are connected to a public Wi-Fi network?

Kaspersky Lab Internet Security 2015’s new Wi-Fi Security Notification feature automatically verifies the security of the Wi-Fi connection you’re using, checks for vulnerabilities, warns you about potential risks and advises you on adjusting your security settings.

Stay Safe in Social Network

Stay Safe on Social Network

Selfie or wefie in your Hari Raya finery and post the amazing food photographs on Facebook and Instagram, or pin the looks that you aspire to, or tweeting meaningful observations is a great way to share with family and friends. However, you need to be very careful about the type of information shared and who you share to.

Cybercriminals are using a wide range of scams, such as shortened URLs or even mobile apps to phish for personal information. By installing an anti-malware solution on your Android smartphone and tablet such as Kaspersky Internet Security for Android, it will ensure your safety as well as giving you warnings if you receive any malicious links or software from your friends.

Kaspersky Lab patents Light Agent Technology

Kaspersky Lab patents Light Agent Technology for the Protection of Virtual Machines

Kaspersky Lab has received patent 9009836 for its Security Architecture for Virtual Machines. The patent was granted by the US Patent and Trademark Office and describes technology designed to provide virtual machines with fully-fledged protection against cyberthreats, without compromising their performance.

The patented technology covers the combination of a dedicated security virtual machine and light agents installed on other virtual machines within the infrastructure. The dedicated machine is equipped with a security module and serves as a security solution for all the other machines. The patent protects the hypervisor-agnostic method of communication between the dedicated machine and the light agents. This method enables agents to not only send data direct to the security module for analysis and to execute its instructions, but also to provide advanced instruments for protection or remediation if needed. This would be impossible using an agentless approach.

In virtual environments, each virtual machine is allocated exactly the amount of RAM and CPU power that it needs. Reducing the resources required by each virtual machine means, therefore, that more machines can be launched on the same hardware.

By today’s standards, conventional cybersecurity solutions take up limited resource. However, if a traditional security solution is running on each of the multiple virtual machines launched in an infrastructure, then security tasks consume quite a lot of the available computing power. Using this newly patented technology helps to dramatically reduce that load. Moreover, the installed agent provides more reliable protection than the popular agentless approach: it offers access to memory and deep system processes, and taps additional security technologies such as web control, application control and device control.

“One of the main benefits of virtualization technology is its more efficient use of resources. Conventional information security tools are not designed to work on virtual machines. This newly patented technology helps to reliably protect virtual environments without compromising their effectiveness. Moreover, this technology is currently the only truly specialized security tool for some virtualization platforms,” says Matvey Voytov, Corporate Products Group Manager at Kaspersky Lab.

Kaspersky Lab’s patented Security Architecture for Virtual Machines technology is implemented in Kaspersky Security for Virtualization | Light Agent. This solution protects servers and virtual workstations in environments such as Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer and VMware vSphere. In particular, this product implements state-of-the-art anti-malware technologies, deep scanning of system processes and memory, web control, application control, device control, among many other features.

1 in 5 DDoS attacks last for days or even weeks

More than one in five companies that suffered DDoS attacks found that their problems continued for several days, or even weeks, according to a survey conducted by Kaspersky Lab and B2B International. The consequences of a DDoS attack can range from limited access to online services to their complete unavailability, but even a small incident can lead to financial losses.

Petaling Jaya, 6 May 2015 - The survey asked representatives of companies affected by a DDoS attack about the duration of the attack and about its impact on the operation of the companies’ sites, services or infrastructure. As it turned out, in 13% of cases the attack caused the complete failure of a resource while 52% reported significant delays in service loading times. For 33% of respondents there were slight delays in loading pages, and 29% of attacks led to the failure of some transactions through the service.

When asked about the length of the attacks, 32% of respondents said they were affected for a few hours. However, 21% of attacks reportedly lasted from a couple of days to several weeks.

The DDoS attack on GitHub, a service for the joint development of IT projects, lasted 118 hours – a typical example of a prolonged attack.

The DDoS attack on the Finnish financial corporation OP Pohjola group was a typical example of a prolonged attack. As a result, customers struggled to access OP Pohjola financial services for more than 6 days.

"For companies, losing a service completely for a short time, or suffering constant delays in accessing it over several days, can be equally serious problems. Both situations can impact customer satisfaction and their willingness to use the same service in the future. Using reliable security solutions to protect against DDoS attacks enables companies to give their customers uninterrupted access to online services, regardless of whether they are facing a powerful short-term assault or a weaker but persistent long-running campaign,” said Evgeny Vigovsky, Head of Kaspersky DDoS Protection.

In the event of a DDoS attack, Kaspersky DDoS Protection enables companies to temporarily redirect traffic via an alternative route, running it through cleaning centers that filter out junk requests and forward legitimate ones as usual. This means users can continue to use the service or site safely and reliably even while an attack is underway. Read more about how the solution operates in this material.
Kaspersky Lab opens office in Singapore

Kaspersky Lab opens office in Singapore

Kaspersky Lab today announces that it has added Singapore to its ever-expanding worldwide network of offices. The new office is the 34th representative division of the company. Kaspersky Lab offices are now located in 31 countries on five continents.

The new office in Singapore is to oversee national business development, while also becoming the future focal point for the company’s R&D in the region. Eventually it will also become the regional HQ, acting as a business hub for the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The Singapore location was not chosen by chance – it was a strategic decision of the management of the company based on the city-state’s being the ‘place to be’ in APAC – a region that holds great potential in terms of business opportunities, especially in the corporate and governmental sectors.

Singapore is also the location of INTERPOL’s newly opened Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI), with which Kaspersky Lab is working closely. The company is to provide the world’s largest international police organization with its top-level threat intelligence, update it on the global malware landscape on a regular basis, assist in investigations of cyber-incidents, and train officers.

One of our top security researchers has moved to Singapore to support the launch of the IGCI’s Digital Forensics Laboratory and to provide high-level advice on site. He’ll be joined soon by colleagues – other top Kaspersky Lab security experts – to make up a full team of researchers located in Singapore.

Commenting on the office opening, Eugene Kaspersky, chairman and CEO of Kaspersky Lab, said: “Singapore is one of the most technologically developed countries in the world, while at the same time one of the main financial hubs on the planet. A strong presence here is simply essential for a successful international company.

What’s also important is that the Singapore government fully understands the importance of cybersecurity and creates perfect conditions for a business like ours. As Singapore progresses with its plan to become one of the world’s Smart Nations, we’re ideally placed to support and help the city-state grow and prosper. We’re very excited about the opportunity to be ahead in both thought and technology in the APAC region.”

Concurrent with the new office opening Kaspersky Lab has already begun cooperation with the Singapore Economic Development Board in welcoming Singaporean students to pass a traineeship at the global headquarters of the company.

For more information please visit www.kaspersky.com.
