Went for my first 1000KM service today and was told I have to pay for the syntium engine oil.

Semi syntium rm152 and full syntium rm200 plus. That's new to me.

So I am getting my Proton Persona SV in a week. I receive good reviews on Persona, about 80% good reviews. But then we all know the bad reputation Proton has or gets from the general public.

So I did hear those comments, "Proton sucks, why buy proton? Proton is a lousy car. Why didn't go for Perodua? Why didn't you just buy a good second hand Japanese car with the same price? Of course Japanese cars are better. Campro engine is bad la. Proton cars will give problems, suck your money. Proton are used for taxis, because they are rejected bro. Only idiots buy proton. You will regret this."

Is Proton that bad? Have I made a mistake getting a Persona SV? I got Persona because it is what I can afford, especially the monthly installments. I could have gotten a Saga SV with a lower monthly installments but I like Persona SV better, it is bigger and I feel it looks better too among other things.

So please share your views. I will update this thread on my experience with my brand new Proton Persona SV.

Is It Practical to Buy a Preowned Mercedes-Benz?

I came across some good conditioned 2000-2007 Mercedes-Benz models for sale within rm55k with a monthly installment of rm500-rm700.

My friend showed me these and said it is better to buy one of these reliable Mercedes cars rather than buying a brand new proton persona at rm48k with the same monthly installments.

I asked him what about the road tax, insurance and service. He said they would be cheap, for example road tax would be like rm200 only.

And there's something about CBU which he mentioned I can't recall that I can get low priced car parts. And the service will not cost much.

I don't know what to say yet, the Mercedes cars he searched for me looked really good. But I am just worried if I would end up losing lots of money to maintain this Mercedes.

I will have to study more about this and I would love to hear your advice also please. And please note that my current salary is rm3,500.

Proton Persona SV 1.6 2015 / 2016

Hi guys, I am looking to buy my first new car and my budget is just RM55K. I am looking for a low maintenance car to travel to work, something that I can afford to pay monthly also. I have been browsing for cars and currently Proton Persona SV 1.6 seems most reasonable for my budget, plus I am looking for a sedan.

My worries, is Persona SV 1.6 a reliable car? Sometimes I see a very good review and sometimes I see a bad review and also very bad reviews about Persona in general. Some shared their problems with Person within only a few months of purchase, there is also a complain on fuel consumption.

I do not want to get the Persona SV 1.6 and suffer financially. Then it would truly be pointless leaving me to feel cheated.

Please advise and if you have any other cars to recommend within the budget of RM55k please do so. Thank you very much for your time.

Hi, any Snakehead fish fans here? I have a Platinum Channa Argus / Northern Snakehead, Emperor Snakehead and Haruan from Thailand.

I have been looking for the normal Channa Argus and Channa Maculata. Often Maculata is sold as Argus, not many knows how to differentiate the two.
