Subaru XV from Carsome = Nightmare

I bought a 2nd hand, 2014 Subaru XV from Carsome in June 2024. Hoping for problem-free car, if anything can claim from Carsome 1-year warranty.
After purchase, did servicing & changed steering rack & driveshaft (paid RM4.5k).
First 3 months, got no issue. Then problems started coming non-stop.
In Sept, engine overheat. Did top overhaul (paid RM2.9k, claimed RM2.8k from Carsome warranty).
Less than 3 days after collected car, the engine light came on again. This time changed sensor & timing chain (paid RM3.8k).
Less than a week after collecting the car, once again, the engine light came on. This time, got clanking sound from the engine bay & the car started losing power while driving. Workshop said sound from engine valve cover, need complete engine overhaul.
Is this considered a lemon car or wear & tear? While I can send to Carsome to claim warranty for overhaul, as you can see from my previous top overhaul, they only cover half, the rest they refuse to cover as they claim it's from wear & tear.
Already spent more than RM10k fixing up the car, with god knows how much more to fix the current problem.
What should I do? Can I somehow get Carsome to take back this lemon car?
Or is there a chance that my workshop is taking me for a ride? The engine problem surfaced so soon after the top overhaul & timing chain replacement.
All & any advice are much appreciated.

JPJ Runner From ****

Hi All,

Just wanted to share with you guys my experience of using a JPJ runner. Now before you berate me for being a lazy ass, I must qualify that I have done Puspakom and JPJ errands before. I'm no experts when it come to the names and functionality of the different forms and procedures, but then again you don't need to be one to get this done. So why did I hire a runner this time? Cos the case is a rather unique one.

The car in this case is a BMW I won in a contest. As stipulated, I was required to register this car under my name. I didn't buy the insurance nor road tax yet as I wanted to sell it. After a long, difficult time searching for buyers, we finally found one. Sounds like a happy ending? More like the start of my fucking nightmare.

As it wasn't a cheap car, I decided to rely on professional runners to kaotim the Puspakom and JPJ process. So I thought the best person to ask would be the runner recommended by the BMW dealer (who kept my car at their showroom during this period). His name is Danny (012 282 1931). Sounded very professional at first, saying we wont have to wait like everyone else, they will kaotim for us. Just need to show up at JPJ and thumbprint, done. He charges RM750 for B5, B7 and JPJ transfer. Which is RM250 (50%) more than market rate! Considering the car's price and his 'professionalism", i decided it is worth paying the premium.

First problem started with the selection of JPJ branch. He insisted on using JPJ Wangsa Maju, even though the seller (aka me) and the buyer is closer to PJ. When the buyer asked to do it in PJ, he says that since the car was registered in Wangsa Maju, the subsequent transfer must be done there. The buyer had done similar transaction before (car registered in Seremban, subsequent transfer in PJ) so he said that's bullshit! Runner then cover up by saying it is faster in Wangsa Maju.

Next, he ask me to go JPJ Wangsa Maju for thumbprint. I asked whether it's even possible, since the car hasn't gone for Puspakom inspection yet. He says no problem. So i went there, waited 30 minutes for my turn (so much for "no waiting time"), then came my turn. When the counter lady typed in the car number, she said cannot do thumbprint BECAUSE NO PUSPAKOM, NO THUMBPRINT! Then he coolly turn around and says, "You come back tomorrow la." Not a sign of remorse nor single word of apology. I must add that through my whole interaction with him, he was frequently rude (reply back in a loud, condescending voice, totally ignore me when I ask him questions).

Next came the car collection. The car was currently in the car service area, which is about 2km away from the showroom. This runner frequently collect cars from the showroom due to his working relationship with the dealer, which is a big reason why we used him. When I arranged for him to collect from the service centre, he refused by saying he didn't know how to get there. I shared the location with him and he still insisted that I drive the car back to the showroom. In the end, in my desperate frustration to get this over with, I went to pick him up from the showroom and drop him at the service centre. Lazy piece of shit!

Then came the fateful day of transfer. Buyer and I went to JPJ to meet him. We were there early, so I gave him a call. He rudely shouted into the phone to look for a lady in black top as he was parking his car. I couldn't find one so I called him back. Then he rudely replied, "The room so small also cannot find meh, I coming now la!" Then he rudely ended the call. When he came 5 minutes later, I asked him which lady he was referring to. He couldn't find her.

We were told that we didn't have to wait like everyone else, but he took a number like everyone else, so we ended up waiting like everyone else. When our turn came, my process as the seller went smoothly. It wasn't the same though for the buyer BECAUSE THE RUNNER FUCKED UP THE INSURANCE. Apparently the insurance has to be open dated and the insured value left empty, until the transfer is completed. They messed this up, and we had to wait 1 hour for the problem to rectify.

When the issue is resolved and the buyer's process completed, we were practically celebrating the end of our misery. Or so we thought. Because the problem isn't yet over...

The buyer took a car loan to buy this car. The banker requires the B5 and B7 forms once the transfer is completed. The runner only gave us the B7 form. When we requested for it 2 days later (after the banker noted on its absence), the runner says that we need to pay additional RM50 for it. We were like WHAT THE FUCK!!! Not only has he screwed up, he wanted to charge us for it. As we needed the doc in a hurry, the buyer kindly paid for it. And with that ended our kick-my-toes-in-the-corner miserable, gouge-my-eyes-out painful and my-whole-house-came-crashing-down disastrous relationship with this runner from the deepest rung of hell.

But hey, this is just me. And the buyer. We may be biased. So we highly recommend for you to USE HIM (here's his contact, in case you miss it - Danny (012 282 1931), then share your experience with us. It will be an awesomely painful one, trust me.
