engine oil for high mileage car

Currently i am driving a toyota camry 2.4 ACV40 with approximately 650k mileage.
Replaced most of the wear and tear parts inside engine bay and also suspension system but never overhauled the engine before.
Replaced:
full set engine mounting, compressor, alternator, starter, tensioner, power steering + pump +hose, brake pump + servo, lower arm, absorber + mounting + link

Currently using 5w40 engine oil, but it burns engine oil and requires topup every 4-5k km.
is there any good high mileage engine oil or treatment that I should use, or just use normal engine oil?
I travel around 40-50k km per year so will do servicing every 2-3 months.

Also another question:
I recently replaced lower arm, front absorber, absorber mounting and engine mounting all at one go. However, my tyre wear is still very bad and almost exhausted the tyre in a short time. tyre is maxxis victra i-pro.
Any good tyre with high threadwear but not so expensive recommended? tyre size 215/55/r17

Camry ballast failure

Hi all,

I'm having some issue on the ballast on my camry ACV40 HID ballast.
I've replaced the ballast on the projector headlamp 3 times, with new, OEM, used halfcut (confirmed to be working) ballast, as well as with 3 new OEM HID bulbs

Upon installation, it will work as fine but the light beam is not as bright compared to the other side of headlamp. I would blame it on the inside of the projector which reflects light beam to the front.

After 1 or 2 days of driving, the ballast failed again and the HID bulb totally won't light up. There's a low hum sound on the ballast if it is operating properly, but on the side which the ballast failed, there is no low humming sound which indicate the ballast didn't work.

Not sure if it's important, but the side that fails is on the left side (passenger side), the driver side HID headlight works properly without failing. Any idea what else could fail apart from the ballast and HID bulb? Been replacing them several times but it still spoilt

Car plate interchange before buying

Hi all, sorry if this question has been asked before.

I'm currently in the process of buying a used car from a direct owner.
However, the owner wants to take back his car plate, so the car will have a new car plate on it.

My question is: the car plate interchange has to be performed before the ownership transfer, that is for sure, right?
So when the original car plate is removed, the owner has to purchase another car plate to install on the car before it can be legally transferred to another person, right?

So for the new car plate, can I use my name to purchase the number from JPJ website, or must the car owner purchase it under his name, so that he can register the plate on the car which is still registered under his name?

Looking forward to some clarification on this matter. Appreciate your help in advance

suggestion for new car for fresh grad

Hi all,

i'm a fresh grad (annual pay 48k) looking to purchase my first car to go to work. Will be travelling on highway(avg 110-140km/h) weekly as I work from home and will only go to office once per week (interstate travel).

Budget is around 45k-65k and can accept new/used car.

I am quite knowledgeable about car spare parts (as I maintain all the cars at home) so getting a used car is not a problem.

Prefer local/japanese car for the reliability with emphasis on driving experience. Enjoys spirited driving sometimes and loves to drive fast. Parents suggested to get sedan for the practicality (boot space) but a hatchback/suv can also be considered.

Please suggest me a car that fits my budget and needs, and also share the potential issues that I may face with the car.

Currently in my mind:
1. new Myvi 1.5 AV (~61k OTR if not mistaken)
2. 2016 mazda 2 hatchback (~58k) <- saw this on carlist
3. used vios (not sure of the year make)

Looking forward to all constructive feedbacks, thanks in advance

Car feels heavy, lose power

Hi all, I have a camry acv40 2.4 round 11 years old now, with mileage around 560k km, haven't performed any overhaul yet. Car is used as daily driver and runs on highway most of the time. The car feels heavy and like it got lesser power as it ages, is there any method to gain back the horsepower without spending huge bucks?

Recently replaced some parts, including:
1. All suspension parts (worn out lower arm, absorber, mounting and others)
2. Drive shaft (worn out)
3. Whole Radiator and corresponding rubber tubes
4. Top cover gasket (foreman says engine oil leak into spark plugs hole)
5. Skim brake disc
6. Idirium spark plugs (suggested by workshop, due for replacement)
7. Shell helix ultra 5w40 (from tesco), replace EO around 8k-10k mileage
8. Toyota WS ATF (every 20k-25k)

Any suggestion is highly appreciated. Thank you

Telco with best plan

Hi all, considering all 3 main Telco(maxis, Digi, celcom) has good coverage in my area, which Telco has the best plan in terms of price for mobile data?

NO UMOBILE

Edit: sorry forgot to add budget

Budget is around rm30-60 per line(the cheaper the better). I have 4 lines in my family.
Unlimited call is not necessary but good to have, data usage at least 10gb per line (the more the better)

Currently using maxis 128 with 2 sup line which brings to 224 total, coverage is damn good and speed is awesome, but feeling expensive so looking for cheaper option. Prepaid or postpaid doesn't matter but preferably postpaid
Thanks

Edit 2: can anyone suggest the cheapest plan with unlimited calls and a small amount of data for WhatsApp & other message app usage? For business purpose

installing windows 10 on new ssd

Hi guys, so i've finally bought a 240gb ssd and installed it in the laptop together with a 500gb hdd that came together with the laptop. now, how do I install windows 10 in the new ssd? I've downloaded and installed the windows 10 64 bit iso in a bootable usb drive and proceeded to boot with the usb but unfortunately it keep loading windows 10 in the old hdd. Any idea how to install windows in the new ssd without physically removing the hdd from the laptop?
I've changed the setting in the BIOS to boot the usb which i've made into a bootable usb drive but it just keep loading windows from the old hdd which i had been using. Thanks.

Edit: I've saved the boot order setting and restarted the computer but apparently the boot order changed back to default ( hdd,ssd then usb) every time i recheck the BIOS even though I've saved and exit the settings.

Best place to buy ssd

Hi all, I'm planning to buy a ssd to upgrade my 4yr old laptop. Can anyone recommend me the cheapest way of buying a ssd? (Lowyat plaza or lazada or garage sales section) because iirc there's a promo code for lazada at the moment.
Also, is 120gb ssd sufficient(or worth my money) or should i get the 240gb? I'm eyeing on the sandisk ssd plus 120gb. My usage would be for Photoshop, chrome browsing and mild gaming (maplestory) as i realize its slowing down a lot. Starting the laptop takes around 2minute for now.
