New purchase - Vacheron Constantin

Just wondering if there's any Vacheron Constantin enthusiasts here? I couldn't find any thread on it. Feel free to share here too.

I just bought the new FiftySix Day Date PowerReserve about a week ago. I was deciding between this or the A.Lange Saxonia Small seconds, it was difficult choice as the Lange boutique managed to source the blue dial which is now discontinued. But I'd like my watch to be a bit more practical and much prefer to have a power reserve indicator. I may perhaps get a Lange in future when funds permits.
Vacheron has never been on my radar despite being invited to a few VC events in the past. But it peaked my interest, when I was invited and introduced the FiftySix line at the VC launch party late last year. Of all 3 models I was immediately drawn to the DayDate but held back from purchasing (I don't like to buy on impulse). I like how it's not overly dressy, fresh, inconspicuous and understated. I do like the Date only version as well especially the newly 'blue note' that was announced at SIHH recently. I guess VC has done the job in moving me away from Rolex lol. Also there's no AD games on waiting lists, mark ups etc etc.

Anyway...after trying on various models and options available from VC and Lange, it is done.

There are plenty of boxes with a box, and other collaterals i.e manuals, pin, hang tags, card holder, etc.

It comes in the new shiny piano finished box which I much preferred. Inside you have an option to either display one or two watches which is handy.

Here's the watch. May not be everyone's cup of tea but I love it! Pictures doesn't do it justice and needs to be tried on the wrist. I can't stop staring at the dial and how it indices reflects the surrounding lights.

You could see the boxed type sapphire crystal.

It was really generous of VC to give a box of red packets during CNY.

The hand is nicely polished and rounded off on the Date hand.

Unlike the simpler Automatic date, this uses VC's in-house caliber 2475 SC/2 with an updated skeletonised 22k rotor.

the attention to detail and finishing is immaculate, definitely worthy of the Poinçon de Genève.

NGD for 2015: Gibson Collectors Choice

Happy 2015!!

Here's my NGD for the start of the year. Well it's been a long time coming but I finally pulled the trigger on one. Was looking and trying out a few when it first came out but have been holding back until the right one came along. Glad I waited.

I really dislike getting guitars delivered during winter and having to leave it in the box and case for x amount of hours. I had to find other things to do and resist the temptation to rip the case apart.

Anyhow it did not disappoint when I finally got it out. What do you think?

Wacom Cintiqs

Just ordered a 13HD Cintiq over the weekend and took delivery of it today
Size wise it's similar to a medium size wacom Intuos5 except the drawing area is much larger. Also the cintiq buttons are so much smaller. I'm pretty pleased with it so far but I wish that it doesn't need an external power source.

Here it is on my office desk, with a 24HD Cintiq touch. It's so small in comparison but I'll be mainly for portability and home use.

May consider a screen protector before I lay my pen on it

Vintage LesPauls up close experience

Came back from a guitar show up north yesterday and managed to see 4 iconic vintage LesPauls all together in a rare occasion. This will probably never happen again.
I was a lucky few to even hold the Kossoff LesPaul and see the rest up close. All the scratches and dings on it got so much history and stories. They were played and compared on stage.

There were other new and second hand guitars on the show. Will post those shortly if you guys want to see it.

NAD: Marshall Custom Shop

Had a day off yesterday and waited anxiously at home. Partly also needed a day to overcome the jetlag.
Anyway, the courier arrived early in the morning, knocked on my door and handed me this. Ah yes, the Klon clone has arrived
Not bad that EHX included a PSU. Quite a bang for the buck for nicely priced pedal.

Then came the second knock and it's like Christmas all over again.
I carefully opened it up, plugged all the cables. Whipped out my LP and the first roar is just unmistakable.
So far I'm impressed with what I hear. Just raw marshall goodness and surprisingly tweakable. It has fair bit of gain on it too.
Very very pleased so far.

Not much on the back except for the low powered button and the signed plaque.

The finishing looks pretty good. I quite like the material which is a nice change from the usual textured tolex I'm used to seeing.
Glad they didn't stick the CS badge at the front, that would really spoil the look.

NGD: Taylor GS Mini-e (Fall Limited)

Went to the Taylor Roadshow last night and came home with one. Have always wanted a small accoustic guitar to just noodle around the house.
Here's the new 2013 GS Mini-e with built in electrics (based on ES-T) and rosewood laminate on the back and side. It sounded immense through the THR10.

More tonal controls than the earlier models. The pickup is on the saddle now unlike the clip-on pickup. Looks less messy and fiddly.
Ebony fingerboard, very smooth and dark.

Just been to HK for business trip last month and visited a few shops when i had the time in between.

Anyway first stop at Parsons in Tsim Tsa Tsui. Literally the floor display is pretty awesome. There were more 59's at their flagship store but I missed on the photos.

NGD: Gibson Collectors Choice #4 Sandy Pics

I was considering a R7 Goldtop Aged when I spotted the Collectors Choice #4 Aged in the shop the other day. I just couldn't resist to give it try and was hooked instantly. I knew I gotta have her, it's something about it and the way it plays. Seemed so much more livelier for a better word and the neck is so comfortable. The aging was really nicely done and has that old guitar vibe. I believe the top varies abit as I managed to try another CC4 but it seems less flamey and missed out on some aging on where it should be. Btw this thread is not for new shiny guitar lovers.

Anyway here it is whilst we still have some sunlight :-) Christmas has come early.

SLASH Apocalyptic Love 2012 Tour

Just came back from Slash Apocalyptic love tour gig in Birmingham. Plenty of his new songs with some from the usual GnR, Velvet and his previous solo album.
Awesome as usual but I think there were some problems with the sound system which kinda spoilt the experience. This was a much bigger venue in comparison to the smaller gigs which I kinda preferred.

Alrighty chaps, just got back from Joe's gig tonight in Birmingham. The best gig I've been to, such a talented guitarist and great showmanship.
Here are some photos upclose.

Quick snap of the stage before the show. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get photos of his pedal board. However I did have a glimpse of his sig wah.

No photoshop trickery here, however the photo came out pretty surreal. Makes a nice wallpaper.

Joe could shred even on an accoustic guitar.

Lastly... Tal Bergman (drums)'s stick from the gig. I don't even play drums.
I wish I got Joe's guitar picks instead but I am not complaining.
