Cannot connect to Streamyx using Aztech 208U

I bought an Aztech 208U USB modem. (My old Xasda Ethernet DSL modem which was free when I subscribed to Streamyx got fried by lightning). The drivers installed properly but when I connect to Streamyx, the username and password is verified and can surf for between 5 to 10 seconds before the link is broken. It happens every time!! I am wondering what is the problem? Can anyone help?

After installing the driver it asks for VPI and VCI settings which I left on default but the manual says it should be as per the ISP's setting. But tm.net's website is lousy and unhelpful for those using USB modems!! Could that be the problem?
