Dilemma of choosing between KPM & Sime Darby

Hi guys, I'm having a bit of a dilemma here. I applied for Yayasan Sime Darby's scholarship with the chance to further to UK, back in April. Only recently did they decide to have their phone interview and I was called just now. Not my intention to brag here, but the interviewer said she will highly recommend me for the next round. I do not know when will they release the final results of the scholarship.

My dilemma now is, I have to choose between accepting the KPM Bursary (10A+) and study in Sunway College, or wait for the possible chance to get Yayasan Sime Darby's scholarship. I'm worried that the seats for A-level at Sunway will be fully occupied soon. Their intake is in July and the deadline of registration with the KPM Bursary is by the end of June. There's also the recent change of the JPA's PCPU scholarship rules for bursary graduates.

I would like to know your opinions on my situation. I would be very thankful as well if any past recipients of the Yayasan Sime Darby scholarship can give me information (like what expenses will they cover, how many went to UK with the scholarship, bond duration, etc etc) and also tips for further rounds. Fellow applicants can also discuss here

Hi, since another member found his beloved PSX game which he can't find using conventional googling, through /k/, I thought I might give it a shot too. Just wanna replay it for nostalgia's sake

Here's the problem, I can't recall the name AT ALL. I may recognize it if I see it, hopefully. What I do remember are aspects of the game. I have googled so much but to no avail

It's basically you starting off as a spacecraft pilot in a space station. You are required to choose a type of spacecraft out of many, fit it with parts and weapons, then launch into space to fight invading monsters. The game has a few different modes, what I recall is there is a story mode or something where you as the protagonist have a name, which is Roy.

When in the space stations, your character can move around in a sort of 3rd person view manner, but you can't move the camera. When you're out in space, view switches to first person view like when you're seated in the cockpit.

As far as I recall, you start with the basic spacecraft named Gaia, I think. You can fire the spacecraft laser with Square button and whatever weapons you fitted with X button. Can accelerate, turn around, use radar.

In space, you can open map view, the map has a lot of grids. The section of space you are currently fighting in is one of the grids. Each grid may include an empty part of space, one with a space station, one with asteroids, or one filled with space monsters. From the map, you can fire photon-torpedoes to neutralise far away threats, or you can choose to hyperjump to a selected grid.

The enemies, I can recall some insect swarm named Galaga, and one type of enemy named Battala with a mobile base resembling some rocky moon. Names of 2 other types of enemies escaped my mind

Questions about A-level

Hi guys, I've looked at the A-level programme at a college that I'm quite interested in. They have either 1.5yrs or 2yrs for their A-level July intake. I would like to hear some opinions as I can't seem to make up my mind.
1) I am aiming to be a Chemical Engineer. Is Biology a prerequisite for this degree in overseas universities? (UK,SG etc)
2) If I take 2 yrs compared to 1.5 yrs, will I miss any intakes for certain countries? I know UK is not affected.
3) The 2 yrs only has a limit of 4 subjects, Physics Maths Chemistry Biology. I'm sure of taking Maths Chem and Physics. I thought of taking Further Maths to strengthen my basic for Engineering degree, but that means 2yrs is not viable. Which is better for me?
4) From what I've heard, 1.5 yrs means 6 months gap between AS and A2 while 2yrs is 12 months gap. Is it too much of a rush for the former?
5) Any other pros and cons of 1.5yrs VS 2yrs?

Regarding certain online applications

I am just curious about the part in online applications where one fills up parent particulars. I have noticed that sometimes the NRIC field is a "Required" field and it will show "Invalid" if you type in alphabets. It is not a problem for most people but what about people with non-Malaysian parents, since the NRIC field must not be skipped in order to proceed and they cannot type in the passport number in that field? If you call the hotline, will they just simply give you a NRIC to fill in? Food for thought

A-Lvl vs IBDP

I did not see a thread comparing A-Lvl and IBDP so I thought of making a new one. I might attend any one of the two, so I appreciate any info from anyone who have learned under these programmes.
A-Lvl seems to the more famous one. On the other hand, I can gather little information about IBDP, since the people I know who takes IBDP is almost zero. Listing down my questions:
1) Normal A-Lvl is 1.5 yrs while IBDP is 2 yrs, correct?
2) IBDP seems to require taking a lot of subjects, like 6 of them while A-Lvl is up to 4. Is it true? I have heard the IBDP subjects are TOUGH.
3) Recognition of A-Lvl for local/overseas vs recognition of IBDP for local/overseas.
4) A-Level is established for long time ady while IBDP is new?

These are the ones I can think of atm. Might post additional ones tomorrow. Please feel free to add anything else relevant! I appreciate it very much Thx in advance.

Unsure about scholarships and stuffs

Hi LYN forumers, I'm usually just a silent reader but I've decided to make an account to ask for some guidance.
Got my SPM results yesterday. It's something unexpected and certainly nothing like what I can dream of. Glad that I can make my old folks proud with 10A+ and GCE-O grade of 1A

Here's my predicament. I come from a family with financial instability, so I don't intend to burden them with my tertiary education costs. My primary aim is to do Engineering, and I feel like involving myself in the ONG industry. So, here are a few of my questions.

1) Any scholarships / bursaries that are automatically offered to me / that I'm qualified for, with my results?
2) What are my options if I want to pursue my studies abroad, with minimal expenditure?
3) I've heard about ASEAN scholarship, but a lot of people told me the applications are usually way early. Am I too late to apply for it or is it still open?

Thanks for any help from you guys. I'm still new here, so don't flame me. I can't bear the sight of my old folks drawing their savings out for me anymore.
