Received suspicious email.

my situation is like this..

Yesterday when I checked my hotmail, I received an email with the sender name as my own hotmail address, and the subject title is "Your Info as Requested on 9/10/2008 5:04:53 PM.".

When i opened it, hotmail had blocked the email (i.e. "This email has been blocked for your safety").

Out of curiosity,I opened the message anyway, I thought that it shouldnt be harmful since there is no attachment and the email size is only 2 kB.

When I opened the email, this was the content:

Your info: *my password*

It really freaked me out. How on earth did my password get there? It is not the same password as the one i used for hotmail, but i do use that password for other websites (still actively using it). i would like to know if it's something that i should worry about? I changed all my passwords that are similar to that one immediately once i got that email. Weird thing is, I wasn't even online at the time (9/10/2008 5:04:53 PM).

I suspect that it's from the GSC website that I visited earlier yesterday. Is there a possibility? I received an email from GSC yesterday saying that I've been inactive for 3 months and in order to keep my account I need to login within 30 days. Instinctively I did so. When I realized that it may be due to GSC's website, I immediately changed all my personal info that i submitted for GSC during my application. (IC number, address, phone number..etc.). they are supposed to send a verification email to me but I have not received it yet till now (has been around 7 hours). I even tried changing my email address and I still have yet to receive a verification email in that account as well.

HOW? It's is something I should be worried about? What should i do? Any experts can help me pleaseeee??? THANK YOU!!!!

Buying Laptop/Notebook for engineering course

hi, i have enrolled into chemical engineering program at monash. i am planning to invest in a good laptop which i plan to purchase soon. i would like to ask, especially those taking chem engineering, do u guys need to install on your own computer any "heavy" engineering programs during the course of study? say for example designing, 3D, animation softwares which require one to have a reasonably good laptop to support these softwares? i dont want to end up buying one which is not good enough, neither one that is too expensive but in the end not fully utilizing it well. thanks in advance
