MBP vs other brand for MATLAB use

Hi, I'm currently doing masters by research at local ipta. I was given a budget to purchase a new laptop to assist me in my research. My research is mainly on image/video processing using MATLAB and C++. My dilemma is, I wanted to give MBP a try (never own mac before) but i have some doubt and hope apple sifus here can guide me.

1) How's the performance of MATLAB/C++ on OSX compared to the Win7?

2) What's on my eyes right now is 13" MBP i7. But, to purchase that, i bet the supervisor will suggest me to take cheaper laptop with same spec. How do i defence this situation?

Lets say, he suggest me Dell Inspiron 15R. Spec i7 2630QM 2.0GHz quad-core, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd, 15" screen, 1gb geforce gt 525m. The price is RM2699. How to convince him that MBP 13" i7 with almost same spec (and dual core) but with pricetag RM4299 is better?

3) I know that mac can boot windows using bootcamp but how about the driver and software compatibility in windows? is it like normal laptop?

Hi, i need help on deciding whether to go AM2+ or AM3. Specs probably as below.

Graphic Card: XFX GTX260 (RM695)
HDD: WD 1TB (RM300)
Monitor: LG W1952TQ (RM385)
Optical Drive: Samsung DVD-writer (RM75)
Casing: any design (RM200)
PSU: need recommendation (budget RM300)
Proc: Phenom II X4 either socket AM2+ or AM3
Mobo: any suitable mobo for recommended proc
RAM: 4GB DDR2/DDR3 (RM250)

so guys, what should i pick for proc, mobo and suitable psu for setup above? budget is 3k. so i have around 1.1k for proc, mobo and psu.

Hi there,

I have 2 internet connection on my pc which is CelcomBB and my university's wifi... Is it possible to turn on both at the same time? I'm usually using uni's wfi to download files from intranet and use CelcomBB to surf. So, how to make it work simultaneously? (download from intranet using wifi and surf using celcom).

This is the 2nd part of double gath for March. (posting on behalf of jsc_tidus coz he is experiencing internet access problem)

Between KFC Wangsa Maju & City Bazaar, which place do you prefer? Here's some pros and cons:

KFC (behind Carrefour Wangsa Maju):
- lots of free parking spaces
- good environment (lightning, food, music, wallplugs)
- free wifi
- acknowledged better place compared with CB foodcourt by those who already went here.
- near to MRR2 (for those who coming from Damansara)
- abit far from Putra LRT (shuttle service provided)
- can smoking outside KFC or go to mamak stall in front KFC.
- can overnight there if you want. Latest we lepak there until 2.30am..
- can take bus from Pekeliling for those who come with bus.
- allergic with KFC? there's Pizzahut on the left, foodstalls in front and carrefour behind.
- surau nearby.

City Bazaar:
- well-known place
- near Star LRT
- parking expensive
- traffic jam
- Near Bernard's shop (incase wanna buy something).
- Variety of food at the food court.
- Near Pertama Complex (incase wanna buy underwater handphone).
- can watch rempit show in front City Bazaar if you stay late...
- ...fill in yourself

For KFC Wangsa Maju, we provide shuttle service from Wangsa Maju LRT station by Cyphreza and shah_ho_nam. Pickup time is 2pm and send back time is maybe 7pm?

My sister sent an MSI mp3 player for RMA on 14 February 2007. Until now, there's no update about the item. Sometimes when my sis called, they said item at singapore, sometimes at china, sometimes dont know the status. Recently, she keep calling everyday and the excuses given is "i will call back" and as expected, its just an excuse to run away from answering her call. Is it like this u treat a lady? i just know about this today and before i come there with anger, i would like an explaination here or by a call. My sister told me that Cycom promised to replace a new one if they cant fix the mp3 player and if i'm not mistaken, there's MSI service center in Malaysia, so why do Cycom need to send the mp3 to overseas?

I went the pcfair yesterday and i saw dsc-s650 for rm499 with free 2 AA rechargable batteries. With 7.2mp 3x zoom and 2" screen, is this model reliable? any disadvantages on this model?

edit: hows Sony DSC-S650 vs Canon A550? which 1 is better?

Hi,

I bought my psc-1315 over 1 year ago during pcfair. Because of no more warranty from shop(past 1 year), i decided to send the printer to HP Service Centre At Pusat Bandar Damansara. After the technician checking the printer, the receptionist said to me that they dont provide repair service but instead, offering me new set for RM190 with 3 month warranty. With that kind of price, with addon RM100 i can get new model with same features with 1 year warranty. Conclusion, their service sucks!

So, i'm finding shop/service centre that can repair my printer. The HP technician said that it was 'formatter' problem. Any infos from you guys is really appreciated..
