Need advice regarding employment law

Hi, i used to be a contract staff bind with 2 years contract which is expired on end of March/February of 2020 (forgotten)
Until now my hr department has no action on it whether to renew contract or what.. until now i'm still serving this company lol
my colleagues also same situation like me..
someone told me that if hr did not renew/terminate contract, we continue to work for more than 6 months, we will be considered as permanent staff.. is that true?
do i take any risk if hr not taking any further action on this matter?
