Dillema: Should I quit gomen?

I've been working in gov service for 6 years. Not my choice but parents'. at first, i enjoy working in gov service.

but after sometime, i feel bored of the bucket passing culture, staff laziness, work environment, meetings 24 hours etc in gov. feel so stressed with my job until i fell ill with purging, fever and having migraine.

been thinking of quitting my job as i've reached the point where i'm really, really tired and fed up with working in here. but at the same time, i'm having doubts and worries as most probably i won't be able to enjoy the same pay and perks that i'm getting now. let's not even talk about the pension, my parents' reaction if they (loyal gov servants) knew i want to quit etc.

i really hate my job. i feel like i no longer have any interest or passion or even will to go to work. if i ask for transfer, i'm quite sure i will get an even worse and stressful place than the current one.

any advice please? what should i do?

HDS-PHU2 is USB powered.
but is it possible to connect it directly to power supply without a pc or laptop?
maybe i get a power adaptor?
have searched on the net but no info.
anybody could enlighten pls?

i'm going on vacation soon
planning to transfer my videos & pics from camcorder directly into my Buffalo HDD.
i don't have a laptop and afraid can't find any cyber cafe there.

desperately need help here.
i recently moved to a new office premise and brought along the same pc that i've been using for 5 years.

when setting up outlook at the new office, i keep getting error message saying that my pc is still connected to the server at old office. tried to uninstall outlook and install again but it doesn't allow me due to the connection to old server.

in fact, i can't even change my password. (message: "the system cannot change password because the domain ***** is not available)

i can't go back to the old office because it's far and already occupied by new tenant.

pls help. thank u

I'm attending a dinner next month.
Planning to wear a white dress.
The problem is the dress comes with a white satin ribbon....i prefer a black one.
the sale assistant said they only have in white.

Anyone knows where i can get a really nice black ribbon?
i'm not looking for the normal ribbon that is used to tie hair.
the thread usually comes off very easily.

how to view foreign language characters

foreign language characters (including chinese) don't show up
all i could view are squares instead of characters.

i tried installing the language pack by microsoft.
halfway, it asks for windows XP cd
i misplaced the cd when i moved to new house.

is there other way to bypass it?

lightning hit and spoilt my streamyx modem.
when called streamyx, the guy said that the modem is no longer under warranty.
so he said can't send technician to replace the spoilt modem and asked me to buy a new modem.

the modem came together with the merdeka promotion.
i think i signed up in late 2007.....the RM77 per month package

would like to know since they refused to replace the modem, can i return the modem and ask them to downgrade my package?
if can downgrade, how much is the new monthly payment?
i don't want to pay extra for a modem that can't be used.

want to know my rights n facts first before calling them
the streamyx guy so lansi when i asked him politely to assign a technician to check my modem.

could anyone pls tell me what other brands/ models that are similiar to Studio XPS 13 in terms of specs?
at first i was interested in it but after reading some reviews, i'm not sure anymore.
it seems to have heat problem and short battery life.
also a little heavy for its category.

Webpages won't load

recently i was given another PC at work.
Now whenever i surf, i notice that there are some web pages won't load.
i never had this prob with the old PC.
sites like Google, Facebook etc are ok.
but certain blogs and websites won't load at all.

any idea what's the problem?

moving files

I'm transferring my files from my hardisk to my personal hard drive.
I'm having probs with 1 folders that contains school works (PPoint slides, word, pics etc)

each time i copy or try to move the folder, i keep getting "error moving file or folder".

why does this happen? Any solution?

Emails Gone Missing!

when i log into my Outlook 2003, I was shocked to see that 500++ of emails which were in Deleted Items folder have dissappeared.
I've tried to look in Archive but it is empty.
I did not set any rules.

I first noticed the dissappearance last week when i used webmail to access my inbox.
I thought it was nothing and decided to check it properly when I get back to the office.

Does anybody know what should I do to recover my emails?
I have tried google for solution but nothing work so far.
I can't even recover deleted emails.

I'm planning to buy a laptop but torn between DELL and Fujitsu (I've used only these 2 brands and I like them).

My budget is below RM4K.
Laptop will be used for work, Internet, gaming, movies, music etc. Lots of multi-tasking actually.
And it has be be light as I'm constantly on the move.

Could someone please recommend me a good and reliable model from either DELL or Fujitsu?
Saw so many models at their websites....I have no idea what is difference.

Storm mp4 player

i just bought storm mp4 player. the salesman assures me that it can play videos as long as i convert it to avi format. i've already tried converting mpeg file into avi and it can be played on pc. but when i transfer it to the mp4 player, it keep saying file error.

in fact, i'm using the converter that they have provided in the cd that they gave me!

what can i do now?? how do i get it to play video files? it cost me nearly rm250 for that player.
