This is the statement I came across when a breeder defends why he asked so much for a dog.

I feel this is super ridiculous if i turn it the other way around. If I show you my pay cheque, can I get your puppy for free?

Yes, I understand the need of buying from a reputable ones, but some reputable ones are trying to make money out of it too in which again I felt is wrong. If you are genuinely a breeder by hobby, you should just give out the dogs and not charge them a hefty sum. Yes, you can background check but asking for equal if not more than what you could find in pet stores aren't helping.
