What are new estate door frames made of?

So I’ve moved into my new place in Seremban Sendayan Matrix development.

This is how the doors in the houses look like.

I’d assumed both the door and the frame are made of wood. I’m trying to install a pull-up bar like this one below, where both ends are anchored into the door frame.

In my old house where the frame is made of wood, what I did was to drill small holes into the door frame with wood drill before screwing bigger wood tapping screws into those holes to secure the anchors. Both the screws and the drill enter into the frame like a hot knife on butter.

But in my new Matrix house, both the screw and the drill just cannot go in. It feels a little like plastic when I knock on it. It also sounds hollow at some areas and solid at others.

Does anyone know what material the frame is, and how can I secure the screws in?

How to plant carpet grass from seeds?

Guys, please teach me how to plant carpet grass from seeds in my new garden.

I'm not keen on ordering from landscapers because I have a big dog that's not trained to live in a house with a garden yet. She likes to dig and I don't want to spend thousands of dollars on carpet grass just to have her dig holes everywhere and destroy the garden before I can properly train her.

I see online there's a lot of people selling Bermuda grass. How is this different from Japan/Taiwan/Philippine grass that landscapers are offering?

From my basic understanding, the steps are:
1) Spray weedkiller to kill all the weeds in the garden and wait 2 weeks for them to all die off.
2) Pour sand to flatten the garden.
3) Pour fertiliser (what type?)
4) Sprinkle the seeds and wait.

Am I doing this right? Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks!

Protecting lights against lightning surges

Hi guys. Sorry noob here. I would like to seek everyone's suggestions on how to protect my house against lightning surges.

I lived in a landed house. Recently rainy season coming, constant lightning strikes around the area. My power tripped a few times. Luckily my TV, fridge, modem, computer etc are all ok. I also have some of those plug-in socket surge protectors for some of my devices. But nowadays, to play safe, I just unplug them during a thunderstorm.

The problem are the devices that I cannot unplug, such as the lights. After the few power trips, more than 80% of the LED downlights in my house are spoilt. Some of them can't be turned on, some will keep flashing like a disco. Sometimes, during lightning strikes, even when the power doesn't trip, some of the downlights will start flashing for a few seconds even when they are always turned off. Sometimes I hear a "pop" sounds from the lights during a lightning strike.

Judging by the frequency of the strikes and also because I don't live in a particularly high area, I don't think the lightning struck my house directly. I believe the surge came from the power cables.

Any advice on how I can prevent this from happening? Any device that I can use to protect all my devices.

I'm a desperate man. I'm already dining in the dark. I don't want to end up showering and peeing in the dark too.

Hybrid durian plants

Lately I've been seeing Facebook posts about Musang King and Thai Monthong durian plants for sale. It is claimed they can bear fruit within 3-4 years and grow up to 7-15 ft tall. You can also find many of such ads on Mudah if you search "hybrid durian". One nursery I visited selling these trees even claimed they can be grown in pots.

Many of them use the similar pictures like these.

I've tried googling but can't seem to find any info about these "dwarf" trees to add any legitimacy to the ads. Anyone knows about these? Any truth to it? Thanks!

What hanging plants are these?

Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me what these hanging plants are? Those hanging downwards from the balcony ledge upstairs.

I have a 2 storey place and I would like to plant these along the 2nd floor balcony to hang down and provide some shade downstairs.

Recommendations for plants that can provide the same effect are fully welcomed and appreciated!

Thanks!!!
