How to check the speed of your vps server

Once you have purchase a vps server, you might wonder around how you can check the speed connection of your vps server. So in this tutorial i will show you in step by step :-

1st login to your vps as a root user :-

2nd You can download the speedTest Python-based script using the command line below :-

3rd Apply the chmod as below command :-

chmod a+rx speedtest_cli.py

4th move the file to a specific location as below command :-

mv speedtest_cli.py /usr/local/bin/speedtest-cli

5th You can chown the script to user and group root: using below command :-

chown root:root /usr/local/bin/speedtest-cli

Done!

Lets perform our speed test !

Use command below to perform the test :-

speedtest-cli

You can share your speed test by performing below command :-

speedtest-cli --share

Share result as shown on url

Note that this tutorial was done on a random SG vps that i purchase just for a the tutorial purpose.
