UI/UX designer in Malaysia

Hi all!

So i've been meaning to ask about this but got no one and dont know where i can ask lol. I just recently graduated from engineering course this year and already applied like tons of job application but still got nothing. even interviews got no call after that. i got tired of applying and fixing my resume over and over again. so i decided to earn some money by doing a graphic design job as a freelance. and i also helped out a friend doing a website and it is major headache but i enjoyed it. later i realized that designing UI for website seems interesting and i am considering to turn it into a full time career if possible. so i took some online classes from coursera to learn more about UX and UI. i am currently planning what should i do next after i completed my study and build some contents for my portfolio. i dont want to hit the dead end after ive done doing all that. my questions are, can someone tell me more about this UI/UX designer career in Malaysia? like how are the demands for this career right now, is the industry doing well rn, and if one decided to make a change into this career path, what are the tips on building the portfolio?

Thanks a bunch guys!

Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) in Malaysia

Hi all, I just recently finished my study about a month ago and currently waiting for graduation. So as mentioned in title, is there any companies in Malaysia that are specialize or currently working on this sector? I have high interest in designing and I think I would be a great fit into this sector since additive manufacturing and complex design are highly incorporated. Plus, with the upcoming industry 4.0, I'm pretty sure that most of the big companies will start replacing conventional manufacturing to additive manufacturing in a near future. Any kind of inputs would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance, guys!

Mechanical Engineer in Malaysia

Hi,

So before I asked some questions, here are my brief details about myself.

-About to graduate in UK degree (3 years) this year
-Planning to continue master in mechanical engineering at University of Malaya for a year (since 3 year degree in Malaysia will not be recognized by BEM so I continue one more year)
-Thinking of becoming mechanical engineering who works in oil and gas industry or maybe get a job outside Malaysia

So here are my questions regarding the career in Malaysia as mechanical engineering

1) Do mechanical engineers in Malaysia still get a relevant/realistic pay especially as fresh graduate?
2) What are the best fields in Mechanical Engineering? Share your experiences of possible
3) Is it true that jumping from other company to another company will get more pay than staying in one company?
4) Do most companies here in Malaysia prefer work experiences over educational background even for fresh graduate?
5) Is it true that even if you work for many years, the pay is still not satisfying?

I'm sorry if most my questions are about good pay/salary. I'm not planning into getting a luxurious style or anything but just concerned about paying my huge student loan debt and maybe upcoming debts, bills, etc. My point here is, is it worth it to become a mechanical engineer here in Malaysia? If so, is there any advices and opinions on this matter? I've been reading a lot of forum and articles about being a mechanical engineer in Malaysia and there a lot rantings sayings that engineers in Malaysia are still getting underpaid. Things like even you work like hell, the salary is still damn low. Not sure if its just a mere ranting or true stories but I really need someone to verify this and share some opinions regarding this matter.

Thanks in advance!

Graduating with BEng. in Malaysia

Hi fellow LYN members,

So regarding on the title above, I am a third year mechanical engineering student currently doing BEng in one of the UK branch university in Malaysia. I will be expected to finish my study at the end of May 2018.

My question is: is it better if i go continue my study with MSc or go working first for a few years than take MSc? or should i work while taking MSc?

FYI: I am not eligible to continue MEng due to the strict requirement set by the uni

I know its a bit hasty for me to apply MSc straight away after finishing BEng. From what I've been told, most engineering company will not take you if you only have BEng (because its a 3 year degree) and you won't be recognize by BEM. The reason why I want to do MSc right away is I don't think I'm ready to work and even if i go looking for the job, the opportunity might not be as bright as for those who's taking normal 4 year degree or (BEng+MEng/MSc). Plus, I'm more into doing designing and creative stuff. So yeah seeking jobs will be such a hassle for me because I'm a bit choosy. (even now i haven't decide where to do my internship)

I would be glad and truly appreciate if someone would like to share their experiences and opinions on my current situation. I'm really in dire situation right now and really confuse about what to do next with my future. Again, thanks in advance if any of you guys would like to share or giving opinions to me. Thanks
