I'm kinda in a difficult situation now but I'll try to explain everything properly.

I got to know this girl and we got together really quickly (as in 3 months after we first met).

I knew that we weren't going to last long as before we got together, she already made it a point that her family is already in Australia, and she's going to apply for a PR there soon.

Her family (particularly her 2 elder brothers) are putting a lot of pressure on her to get her visa application done ASAP, by hook or by crook next year she gotta be there.

They are also trying to choose a partner for her. (With "standards")

All these are putting a tremendous pressure on her.

We talked about our future numerous times, but they always went nowhere. I used to suggest that she come back and work for a few years, and when our relationship is more stable, I'll be willing to go there with her. It was just last week where we had this talk again, and I said I'm willing to leave Msia for her. She got very upset and refused to talk to me for days.

It was only today, the bubble finally burst. She sent an email, saying that she's unable to handle a lot of pressure from all sides, and I made it worse by saying I'll leave to wherever she's going. She doesn't want me to leave my family behind. She also said she'll want what her family wants for her, and she's willing to submit to them, even if it's her life partner they are choosing. She asked me to move on without her.

As of now, nothing about her future is concrete yet. She might need to come back to Msia to work for 2 years before finally able to apply for PR.

I'm at a lost now. I used to believe true love is sacrifice, but why is she rejecting me? Am I too naive to think that way? She is my first by the way.

Degree marks Dispute

I have just finished my bachelor's degree from an overseas institution (I'll refrain from naming the institutions involved). The whole program is 4 years (local) + 3 months (overseas), where after the 4 years we would be awarded an Advanced Diploma, and the 3 months program is a top up to a bachelor's degree.

The system for awarding of the bachelor's degree class are as follows:

4 level-3 papers and the FYP will be taken from the local institution and 4 modules done in the overseas institution, multiply credit hours and averaging.

The problem arises when the referral papers (failed during the 1st attempt but passed later on) taken into consideration from the local institution were capped to 40% by the overseas institution for calculation, whereas the local institution considers a passing mark as 50%. This is akin to taking a failed mark into the calculation, lowering the average drastically, which I feel is not fair for the students at all.

Is there any justification to this double standards of grading?

Gassy stomach after meals

Alright i have searched the previous threads for the same symptoms but i think my case is unique.

I had this food poisoning last week (diarrhoea, vomit) after going on a food trip.

Dint see any doctors as i thought i can just wait for everything to purge out.

Today is the 8th day since i vomited. After that incident, i find that after every meal, i tend to have gassy stomach and feeling nauseatic, and i tend to eat less/not much appetite.

I tried searching for answers from the net but i think my case doesnt match anything. Any ideas?

Oh, btw i'm going to a doctor tomorrow. Really cannot tahan edi. Would appreciate it if u forummers can tell me wat to expect.

Edit: juz to add: i'm not lactose intolerant, i have no history of irritable bowel syndrome, all these happened after the food poisoning incident.

Booting problem

Hi guys

One day my laptop decided to give up on me. The following appeared on the bluescreen:

c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file):
\SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE

I couldn't load even the safemode.

Upon googgling, i found out the solution is to use recovery console to restore the registry files but the problem is, i dun have recovery console installed.

Then i tried to boot an xp cd.

Going into the bios setup, i found out that the bios doesn't allow me to boot from cd-rom. It shows only:

Boot options:
notebook multibay
notebook hard drive
notebook ethernet

I think older compaq systems are unable to boot from cd-rom.

Then upon googgling again i found that another option is to boot from a floppy, which led to another problem, i dun have a laptop floppy drive.

I'm already out of ideas which is why i came here to consult you guys. What should i do now?

my system is:
2002 compaq presario 2800 1.7 GHz
256 RAM
9.7 GB harddisk
