Overheating Laptop Dell

Hi guys, not sure if this is the right place.

Recently a friend gave an old laptop for me to use for some basic stuff for chrome, watching netflix, and to do powerpoint/excel. I've reformatted the whole thing but the unit still tends to overheat even when i just start the laptop and use only chrome (havent even gotten to use ppt/excel). Currently using it in an aircond room and a fan blowing it directly - if i dont do that, it will shutdown immediately (usually 30 mins). Currently the temperature reaches: 83c-90c sometimes. Trying my best to restore the laptop so I dont have to spend any unnecessary money. Hence I got two ques that hopefully sifus here can help me out:

1) How do I diagnosed the issue - software related or is it hardware ?
2) Is it worth it to replace the items or can the laptop be salvaged?
3) Is there someone in forum that I can send to repair (reasonable pricing)?

Mental Wellbeing in Workplace

Hey guys, following up from the previous volunteer call, the NGO that my friend has been working with has managed to get individuals experiencing Mental Health in workplace to share their stories and I would like to invite you to come join the event to learn more. This is because, Mental Wellbeing in the Malaysia workplace has been highly stigmatised due to our culture (to a certain extent). However, not alot of people know this but “50.2 per cent of Malaysian employees have at least one dimension of work-related stress” - AIA Vitality 2018 and chances are the numbers will not drop anytime soon if we dont do something about it. Hence, he set out to interview several poeple who suffers from Mental Health in the workplace and will be showcasing some of the interviews done during the event. For anyone who finds it relevant, you are more than welcome to join:

Hence, in conjunction with the World Mental Health Day 2019 in October, Global Shapers Kuala Lumpur is celebrating and raising appreciation of the importance of Mental Wellbeing among young working professionals and we would like to invite you to our latest Mental Wellbeing event entitled “It’s Okay Not To Be Okay”. This year’s installation will include;
1. The launch of a video campaign of young Malaysian professionals sharing their personal stories of Mental Health challenges in the workplace and how they manage their adversities.
2. Intellectual discussion session with Mental Health survivors and a panel forum on Mental Health in the workplace.
3. GSKL is also bringing in Story Kuching's exhibit - Between the Broken Pieces: Depression & its Untold Stories. This exhibition serves as a platform for individuals experiencing depression to break their silence and stigma by telling their story.

Mental Health @ Workplace

Hi guys, me and my friends are working towards increasing awareness and reducing social stigma of Mental Health illness in Malaysia with the focus in workplace. We are looking to develop a series of videos to reduce the social stigma by shining the light on individuals who suffers from any form of Mental Health challenges to understand their predicaments and how they overcome it in the workplace. The shoot will tentatively take place in September and we are expecting to start sharing the videos in October in conjunction with World Mental Health Day.

Currently the video will focus on individual who is currently working and will most likely be in English (other languages might be considered but our current interviewer is more proficient in conducting the Q&A in English). I was wondering if there is anyone here who is willing to discover further on this initiative and I can furnish more information on this.

Looking for Programmer For Social Enterprise Idea

Dear all, I think this might not be the best place to ask but I am gonna to try my luck out.

Basically, I came up with an idea about a year back to so call "gamify" education for students which will allow them to earn some credit to be paid towards item related to their education. Me and several partners have since bounced the idea with several people and went on to seek some funding but was not move forth as they want to see the platform up and running.

Hence, I was wondering if anyone is interested in doing this social enterprise project focusing solely on the education access in Malaysia and would be able to advise and help develop the overall platform. I have some sort of the idea for the platform (including look & feel and function) but me and my partners are not expert in the programming part of this. Currently we are looking for it to work on website and not so much of apps-based.

For those who are interested please pm me for more details so that I can share them with you or we can meet around Klang Valley. Personally, i have to stress out that the overall business (if it kicks off) is focusing on social benefit and the betterment of education access to students and I am strictly looking for people who shares the same vision and passion. So if you know any programmer in the field of social entrepreneurship, please feel free to let me know too.

In terms of compensation, I cannot promise anything. But no one will sacrifice their time for nothing and I assure you that we can nego on the equity part if you are able to do the platform and also committed to the cause.

(Before anyone asked, it took me a year long before I went on to look for a programmer was simply because I had certain personal challenges that needed my attention before fully I committed to this as well).

Car alarm

Hi Guys,

Recently my car acted quite strangely . First my car remote was weak, then i change the battery and went to readjust the frequency (following my original car key). Then i can use the remote again. Recently my central lock all of a sudden broke down n now i have to manually lock/unlock the car but my car alarm still functioning. But then last few days, i realise my alarm on and off cant be activated/deactivate. I have to press several times.
Today it finally died even though i tried activating and deactivating using both my original and spare keys.
Anyone got any idea what is happening and if need be, how much is the going rate for a normal car alarm .

Hi Guys,

My name is Jeremy and I would like to request for your home furniture to help me rebuild my house.

My eldest brother was a substance abuser and about 10 months ago, he started abusing drugs once again. He became aggressive, irrational and abusive throughout the whole period that led to us fleeing our home in February 2013. We rented the upper floor of a shoplot and both my 2nd Brother and my parents are currently staying there.

Throughout the whole period, we have sought the help from both the police force and the National Antidrug Agency but to no avail; each time providing different excuses and also the failure to arrest my eldest brother. However, on the 31st December 2013, we successfully detained my brother and he is currently in the Narcotic Police Force custody and will be passed on to the National Antidrug Agency for rehabilitation programme (pending court order).

Upon his arrest, we went back to our home but it was too late. The whole house was completely torn apart (as attached in the photos) and most of the electrical items are not functioning properly. Both me and my 2nd Brother are trying to restore back the house with basic electrical items but with both my parents (late 60s) retired and my 2nd Brother currently in between jobs, it is hard for me to support the family with my junior executive payroll let alone buying new items.

Some of the furniture in my house can still be salvage, but some are totally spoilt. If you have any further query, please do not hesitate to pm me.

Which to choose for audit firm?

Hi Guys,

My friend has been offered by two audit firms for an audit which would both starts in early Feb and both has around the same salary range as well (discrepancy of about rm100).
However she's in a dilemma to choose. My friend stays in Klang.
For Ty Teoh, it's own by the boss and he practice a very open window and open door policy. And the company is located in Kelana Jaya.
Another company is crowe horwath which is situated in klang. Previous employee has said that the branch in klang wasn't really that great and we couldn't find any current employee to give us any view on the company right now.

If anyone with any experience in either company, please share.

I applied for a few banks to work.. and for one of the bank's interview, it required me to disclose my parents IC.
However, one of my parents business failed and had to go default on the said bank. So would my parents default affect my application?
