Talking alarm - where to find?

Hey guys, sorry in advance if this is the wrong thread to post this, but does anyone know where to find car alarms like those Viper ones that have voice saying "car is armed" instead of the usual beeps? Whereabouts may one be found? Rough pricing would be appreciated too

Evangelion 1.0 : You Are (Not) Alone

I'm surprised there isn't a thread yet

I'm seriously awaiting this movie... it's a good thing I haven't watched any leaks online. Made to be the 1st of a Tetralogy, Rebuild of Evangelion is a celebration of the greatness of Evangelion and is aimed at both seasoned and new fans who have no idea what's an Eva. The quality is top notch based on trailers, and some scenes have been redone almost frame-to-frame. But from what I've heard, there are some changes to the story, and I prefer to not be spoiled and watch it for myself

This is the poster from the Singapore screening (they got it in March! )

Eva 01

Gattling gun goodness...

Misato!

Tokyo 3

Positron Rifle goodness...

Ramiel

Comparison between Shamshel in Eva 1.0 (left) and the original tv series...

Malaysia took forever to screen this, but to me it was worth the wait to catch this on the big screen.
Wooden Ship Kits

Hi guys, my buddy is looking for wooden ship model kits, you know, the nice big and detailed types (for her daddy) and I was wondering whether any of you guys could give some tips and/or directions on where are good places to find them (plus accessories/tools to build them). It'd be much of help, cos she's going to order from Ebay if she can't find (which I think is quite expensive). not many people I see are into these replicas, but I think they look really beautiful when finished.

Sunpak PZ42X vs Nikon SB-800

Hi photo sifus, I'd like to ask for opinions and advice~

I'm a real noob to flash photography, and I'm considering getting a speedflash to assist in shooting night events (indoor & outdoor). I've heard that the Nikon SB-800 is really popular among users, but it's quite out of my league in terms of pricing. I came across the Sunpak PZ42X while I was browsing camera shops and the guy there insisted that this was a cheaper alternative to the SB-800. It goes for a selling price of RM850. What do you guys think bout this model in comparison to the SB-800? Suitability and any pros and cons? I'm using a F65D film camera at the moment btw.

Thanks~

raptor's Little Gallery

I only realised this section of LYN recently (I know, it's late... but well, LYN is so HUGE!) and I think it's really cool to share our photos among forummers. So I'm setting up my lil gallery to share my photos with you guys. Basically I take photos as a hobby and an interest, whenever there's an interesting shot to take, be it a subject, location or experiments, I'd be there with my camera hoping to get a good shot . I admit I'm still an amateur photographer and not as knowledgable as most sifus here, but I'm always learning, so any advice or comments are most welcome. I'm also a backup photographer for my company, so when our official photographer's not available, I get to go as a last choice (they say my lil knowledge on photography is enough, but I still feel like a noob) heehee...

I'm probably one of the dying few people who still use film SLR... Mine's a Nikon F65D and I love it. True, it may be bulky and you can't preview the images you've shot and you are also limited to 36 shots per-roll, but the results are more than worth it. The biggest problem is transferring them to the computer as dust or scratches always get into the photo. Recently I started experimenting with digital cameras, firstly using a 2nd-hand Sony P10, 3rd hand Canon S60 and graduating to a Sony T30. They're consumer cameras but I'm pretty impressed with their results. Too bad they offer little or no options when it comes to adjusting aperture or shutter speed. I try to make my photos interesting despite those limitations (the F65D is still my fav though).

My long-term plan is going digital with a DSLR, but I admit they're still pretty scary to me... Anyways, hope to be part of the photo-taking community here... It's nice to see people sharing the same interest and passion for photography

Beware of Car Vandals

I'm just posting in order to warn people who park their cars alongside the stretch of paid parking lots in Bangsar. This is the stretch from BhP to Shell (not that far from McD Jalan Telawi). A lot of people park their cars there everyday, and I was one of them. I parked my car nearby the TOM'S BANGSAR shop.

When I got back to my car, it had a scratch at the side. At 1st I just thought to myself, a scratch is rather normal in KL, but I was already upset as I take extremely good care of my car and it has almost NO scratches. But me and my cousin went around the car and to our uttermost horror there were no less than 5 (five) DEEP SCRATCHES, obviously done on purpose. As far as I know, there are no jaga-kereta people there to scratch cars...

And no, I'm a good-natured person with no enemies that I know of. The car wasn't blocking anyone's way, it wasn't parking in any reserved lot or hydrant. It was parked just like any other car along the public parking stretch, yet it got scratched badly. I have parked along this stretch many times, but normally near Esso or Shell (it gives me a sense of security) but never in front of Tom's. There were 2 kapchai bikes parked extremely close to my car at that time, and they did seem rather suspicious. As I got into my car, I noticed many Tom's staff bending their heads from inside the shop and also near the car wash. The seemed to be looking at us (it cud be just me, but the way they were looking at us DID seem very suspicious). A few came out of the shop as I started the ignition. As I drove off slowly, I could see in my rear view mirror those fellas rushing into one of those Tom's cars and quickly parking it into the lot.

This is a cause for alarm. Does this mean that they are making that stretch in front of their shop exclusive to them alone? When in fact those are PAID PUBLIC PARKING LOTS. And even if they wanted those lots badly, on what grounds must they scratch a person's car so badly and so deep until the base steel is visible, just because the car was parked there? This is CRIMINAL VANDALISM!

I urge all residents around the area to be wary when parking near that area in Bangsar. Be cautious of car vandals.

Photos of the scratches:

*will update with photos of the shop and parking area*
