The Star has fake News Again

LGE: The Star giving fake news again on new airports

Lol direct copy and paste:

MEDIA RELEASE
MINISTRY OF FINANCE MALAYSIA

Both the Finance and Transport Ministry as well as the state governments of Kedah and Penang are completely in the dark relating to the sensational front-page report in The Star today, that two companies are proposing two massive airport projects on mainland Penang valued at tens of billions of ringgit. The Star blared out that the 2 new airport proposals would replace the existing Penang International Airport (PIA) in Bayan Lepas and threaten the proposed Kulim International Airport funded by Private Financing Initiative (PFI).

To date, The Star report has only sowed confusion amongst the communications and transport industry because they failed to disclose who had attended the briefing or accepted the recommendations. So far both the Transport Minister, YB Anthony Loke, and Kedah Menteri Besar, YAB Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, have told me that they know nothing about the two so-called new airport proposals.

The Chief Minister of Penang, YB Chow Kon Yeow, has also said that the Penang state government has no knowledge of it. Approval from the Penang State Government is critical when it involves land issues. Unless the MCA-owned The Star can prove that they practice responsible journalism by showing evidence, and that it is not a figment of their imagination that the Federal government had considered the proposals, they are on a fishing expedition not worthy of professional journalism.

Such baseless speculation is also grossly unfair by giving the negative impression that the Federal government is riding roughshod over the state governments or the rakyat by considering such a massive project involving thousands of hectares of padi land or 5,000 hectares of reclaimed land from the sea.

Let me state that the Federal government’s position as stated in the 2019 Budget, is clearly to expand the existing PIA to a capacity of 16 million passengers yearly from the present 6.5 million passengers. The expansion of the PIA will be conducted in 2 phases. PIA’s proposed 16 million passengers yearly should be able meet the existing PIA’S capacity of 8 million passengers until 2030. There is room for further expansion in the future of PIA to 20 million passengers. As for the Kulim International Airport, the Federal government is awaiting proposals on its construction through PFI, without requiring any expenditure from the Federal government.

Sayangi Malaysiaku!

LIM GUAN ENG
Minister of Finance
Ministry of Finance Malaysia
Putrajaya
10 June 2019

Don't know what to say, why The Star keeps repeatedly pushing fake news?

They wanna get their licenses permanently revoked?

Original article:

The Star on New Airports

EXCLUSIVE:GEORGE TOWN: Amid all the hype surrounding the Kulim International Airport (KXP) there is now even talk of two companies proposing to build a new airport in two different locations in south Seberang Perai on mainland Penang.

It is learnt that one private company proposed to the Federal Government its plans to build a new airport in Penang, while another company is about to do the same soon.

One proposal – called North Malaysia International Airport (NMIA) – involves acquiring thousands of hectares of padi land, while another – the Northern Region International Airport (NORIA) – entails reclaiming 5,000ha off the coast of south Seberang Perai. Both proposed locations are within 10km of each other.

If the plans materialise, it would spell the end for Penang International Airport (PIA) in Bayan Lepas which is on Penang island.

It is understood that the proposal for NMIA, if given the nod, would be an exchange for the rights to develop the coveted prime land now occupied by PIA.

A source revealed that the location of NMIA, which would cost about RM10bil and covering a whopping 650ha, would be near the border shared by Kedah, Penang and Perak.

The site, at present, is a vast tract of padi fields, and the project includes an additional 400ha for warehousing and logistics facilities.

“The company proposed an airport large enough to handle 16 million passengers a year, expandable to 25 million.

“It will serve the three states with a check-in terminal featuring a transit monorail for flight passengers to commute between Penang island and NMIA in 45 minutes,” the source revealed.

He said the monorail transit line was calculated to be 57km long, about the same as the train link between Kuala Lumpur International Airport and KL Sentral.

This rail link includes an interchange station with the Electric Train Service between Padang Besar (Perlis) and Kuala Lumpur, and stops at Batu Kawan Industrial Estate on the Penang mainland and near Queensbay Mall in Bayan Lepas on the island.

“The company’s proposal for NMIA was so detailed that it surprised those to whom it was presented to in the Federal Government,” said the source who declined to reveal who attended the project presentation.

A check revealed that the state government might not be aware of the proposal.

When asked, a senior state executive council member replied that “this is the first time I am hearing about it”.

The source said the company did not “ask for a sen” to build NMIA, and the proposers offered to build it in exchange for the land that PIA is on.

“They won’t even need the land until NMIA is fully operational.

“The company claims it can raise enough funds to build NMIA fully before seeing a return on their investment by developing the Bayan Lepas airport land,” he said, adding that the company is also willing to finance the cost of acquiring land in south Seberang Prai to build NMIA.

He said while the current estimated value of the Bayan Lepas airport land is RM7.2bil, the development value would be more than double and “immense” enough to make NMIA commercially viable.

The other proposal, NORIA, includes the building of an industrial fisheries port, a major enhancement to Penang’s aquaculture sector in south Seberang Prai and a new electronics industrial park.

A different source revealed that this entails reclaiming 5,000ha between the second Penang bridge and the Penang-Perak border.

“It will be an island. On top of an airport, it will be the largest aquaculture and deep-sea fisheries hub in peninsular Malaysia,” the source said, adding that the fishing port would support tuna fishing activities in the Andaman Sea and even the Indian Ocean on the other side of Sumatra island.

More than 30,000 tonnes of salt and brackish water fish are farmed here yearly and it is the largest source of farmed fish for peninsular Malaysia and Singapore.

He said NORIA includes a mega industrial park for the electronics industry.

“The population in northern Perak and southern Kedah will be the greatest beneficiaries of such an industrial park because it will create tens of thousands of new jobs for them.

“Now, there are fleets of factory buses bringing workers from Kamunting and Taiping in Perak to Bayan Lepas every morning.

“They have to wake up before 5am to get to work. They sleep in their buses. By having a new hi-tech estate closer to Perak and Kedah, the spillover benefits will be more thoroughly shared,” the source said.

He said the prospect of building an inland port in Kedah with a rail link to NORIA was also being studied.

“The company is planning to propose it formally to the Federal Government soon,” he added.

On KXP which is in Kulim, the source said, it “has not been cast in stone”.

“It is closer to Sungai Petani, too far from Perak to give direct benefit,” he said.

It was announced in March that the RM1.6bil KXP has been approved as a private financing initiative and a company to develop it will be picked via open tender.

KXP has generated much interest in the northern region, with industry players in Kedah eager for it and industrialists on Penang island feeling worried that it would adversely impact their state’s economy, especially if it leads to the eventual decommissioning of PIA.

Read more at https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2019...SKfRocddJvAq.99

http://www.thestar.com.my/Business/Busines...wers/?style=biz

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara, clarifying its powers to enforce compliance, said it will take action against those found to have not complied with the rules and regulations, These are administrative actions administered by the bank itself.

Below is the full statement issued by the central bank on Monday.

Administrative Enforcement Actions

Bank Negara Malaysia (the Bank) wishes to provide clarity regarding its powers to enforce compliance with the regulatory laws that are administered by the Bank. The Bank would take enforcement actions, also known as administrative actions, on parties that are found to have transgressed or have not complied with the rules and regulations issued under these laws. These actions may be taken concurrently with, and are separate and distinct from, criminal proceedings that are under the sole purview of the Attorney General.

Hence, separate from any decision on criminal proceedings, the Bank is authorised under the Financial Services Act 2013 and Islamic Financial Services Act 2013 to pursue administrative actions. This would include the imposition of monetary penalties, issuance of an order to comply, making restitution to any person aggrieved by a breach, public and private reprimands and an order to take steps to mitigate or remedy a breach.

This is to ensure the integrity of, and confidence in, the financial system.

Wind Noise problem from the front windshield.
2. Wind Noise problem from the rear doors.
3. Squeaking Noises from the rear of the car.
4. Squeaking Noises from the car absorbers/suspension.
5. Engine whirring noise louder than usual (yes i know it's a diesel engine, I compared it with another W212 same make and mine is much noisier).
6. Squeaking sound on brakes.
7. Undercarriage seems loose or steering column feels very unstable. (Not the same as the test drive car)
8. Front grill and mountings came loose during driving. Had to emergency stop to
9. Scratches on the rims.
10. Rubber sealants on the top and middle of the car not properly installed.
11. Driver side external foot rest mounted incorrectly
12. Passenger side external foot rest mounted incorrectly
13. etc.

It has been a month and the problems have not been solved yet. It's been in and out of the service center for more than a month now for 5 times (total time spent in the service center = 1 month and 1 week).

Not sure why they can't easily fix the issues but this is the stupid part. Every time they tell me the problems are fixed, I go over to the service center to take the car and to drive it. I then find that the problems are still there..and send it back in. I then forced them to come sit in the car with me each time and only at those times they verified the problems are still there. The only logical explanation is that the car must be scared shitless of CCB technicians but not scared of me.

Mind you, the age of the car is the same as the duration it is in the service center. That's MBM and Cycle & Carriage quality for you.

New Car Question

Recently just got a new car. I need to ask, do you guys go for products such as paint coats to protect the paint from chips, small stones, etc?

Any recommendations regarding that? If not, what is the recommended thing to do after getting the car?

Also, can I know if the above is done before or after a tint is done on the car?

Chevrolet Optra Engine Overhaul + Minor Issue

Hi All,

Looking to overhaul my car engine.

Car is a Chevrolet Optra 1.8 Year 2006.

Anyone can point me to a recommended place I can overhaul my engine at cheaply?

Also, I noticed that the car jerks sometimes when I put the gear into D from N. This happens when the idle suddenly acts funny and goes from < 1k RPM to 2k and 3k RPM (idling unstable sometimes). Any clues on why this is happening? I've actually replaced the throttle body so this is not the cause.

I've recently replaced quite a number of parts in the car so its almost brand new.
