Linksys x3500 streamyx 4mbps walled garden

Hi guys,

I have a TP-Link modem WiFi router connected to streamyx 4mbps with no problem. I have changed my router to linksys x3500 because i need better wifi coverage.

so like many of you, went into the setup page and configure the usual settings and walla, connected!

But the the browser always reroute me to this walled garden tm internet network page, saying my account is due for payment. I called up tm and they said my account is active, which is obvious because my other modem works fine. So they cant help me with linksys.

I then called up linksys and they guide me to setup the modem exactly how i did and come to the same page too. Linksys cant help me further because they claimed that the modem is working fine.

So, now both of them are now NOT responsible for the problem occurs, i turned myself into here to seek for expert advise. Have you guys come across this problem?

iPad 3rd Gen WiFi problem

I had my iPad 3rd gen for 1 and half years. Was working until yesterday it suddenly dropped from WiFi connection.
I din modify any settings prior to that.

I try to reconnect the same hotspot and straight away giving me 'Unable to Join Network'. Like the iPad never even consider joining it

so i go ahead with lots of troubleshooting:

1. Power cycle my iPad. Soft restart. Press sleep button until i see the red slide to power off method. Didn't work
2. Hard restart. Press sleep and home button until the unit turned off. And turn it on again. Didn't work
3. On off iPad's WiFi, didn't work. Put in airplane mode, on WiFi, didn't work. Connect with bluetooth on, didn't work. Off bluetooth, didn't work
4. Go to network profile, press 'Forget Network' then rejoin. Key in my WiFi WPA key, didn't work.
5. On off my router. Didn't work. Set my WiFi to open with no encryption. Didn't work
6. Use static ip, didn't work
7. Move to friend's house and try on friend's router, didn't work
8. On my personal hotspot, didn't work.
9. I was on IOS 5.1.1 previously so i though maybe upgrading would help. So i upped to IOS 7.0.4, didn't work.
10. with IOS 7.0.4, i reset and clear everything (means complete reset) didn't work.

So, with so much that i have tried, i concluded it might be some problem with the WiFi module, which i don't think so because it still detects WiFi!!!

before i send it in for repair, what can you guys suggest me to do? help appreciated.. thanks!

SSL error on local issued certificate

Hi guys,

Hope this is the correct place for me ask this question

I'm working on board a offshore vessel and the internet is connected to satellite internet
However, the server seems to issue local certificate with company.local domain and it makes most of my apps, website inaccessible

Tho some site can be access by adding exception, but the .CSS file or whatever .js file is not loaded due to the SSL error

So my Facebook page is totally useless. All it display is text.

I tried to add and trusted the certificate but that doesn't help
Talk to the admin and was told that the server is configured by third party

On my tablet and phone, apps like whatsapp, Google apps which use HTTPS packet all can't be use because I have no way to add exception

Guys.. Do any of the expert here has any suggestion?

I have an idea tho is to install a proxy server and host it on my website. But most of the tutorial out there teaches you to setup web based proxy which works like anonymous browser.
I want it to be automatic, which u just punch in address and port kind of proxy server..

Thanks for your help in advance
vb.net PictureBox binding

morning guys,

i stored my picture path in my db so i can keep my db into smaller size. I used bindingsource to bind all my text box, combo box for easier adding, updating and searching except for the picture box, which in this case, can't bind because I'm not saving the image into db.

so i have to manually load the picture using bindingsource position changed event.

however, when i add new record, if user need to cancel the adding process, it should return to the last record, which if i switch to last position before pressing adding, the position changed event is not triggered, thus image is not loading.

any ideas how to solve this guys?

URL Request Loop Efficiency

Hello fellows,

I created a script to constantly read http source from a URL. Let say there are 1000 pages that I need to go tru. The way i can think of is

CODE

For i=1 to 1000

get source code from let say http://www.example.com/product.asp?page=i
decode the source code and get the info i wanted
save things into database

Next

That's the only way i can think of. I tried it before and 200 record can take me like 3 minutes.
Do you guys have any better idea than that?

Thanks

Little story of my technical encouter with TM

dear all,

I'm here to share my experiences dealing with TMNet regarding my internet slow down. I don't really log my process but this is what i remembered.

Just recently (around 2-3 weeks), I'm having problem with my connection. It's not an usual problem like internet can't connect. My connection is working perfectly during day time. Speed is reasonable because i'm still using 512kbps package and i can't really expect things to go any faster. But things went very bad starting around 6pm onwards. My line is still connected and i can still chat with msn and google talk. The only problem is i can't surf ANY, i mean ANY website at all. Not even Tm own website at www.tm.net.my. It happens through the night until i think sometime in the morning. To eliminate the possibility of problems at my side, i did a lot of troubleshooting. I change router, change DNS, change splitter, change direct connection. Nothing is helping to solve the problem. I tried ping, tracert and got timed out.

So helplessly, i called tmnet technical support. I pressed 2 for English and they answered in Malay. WTF. I'm not racist but i think i explain better in English rather than Malay. Then i explain to them about my problem. Then they start the normal troubleshooting routine. I told them i'm a geek and know about all this and please, skip all the stupid steps. They insist me to do it because it's SOP. WTF. My line is connected and what do you need to troubleshoot? I know the problem is with them not mine. So I got no choice to follow what they said. Then they told me that: "Ok sir, your line is connected and we can see your line is active". I'm like WTF, didn't you listen to what i explain earlier? So, i have to explain all over again and then now baru lah they said: "ok sir, in this case we will send technician to your house within 24 hrs and have a look". As a happy man, i wrote down the report number and hope they will visit me tomorrow.

After few long hours later....

They showed up at my door step. I let them in, explaining to them my problem and let them check and do their works. They have with them a signal strength device. They check check check and told me, my line is fine. They said problem could reside at the port or the exchange. They need to check and reset my port. Since i could not get access to the exchange so i just let them go and do their job and hope everything is fine.

Things went for few days and i still could not see any improvement at all. I'm not getting any call from TM on the progress of my case as well. I decided to call them to find out. Apparently, my case is closed. They never inform me, never notify me, never update me and never ever ask me if the line is ok. I'm very disappointed and frustrated. Luckily this guy on the phone is smart. He said he will escalate this problem immediately to the on site team as this is no way he can troubleshoot. I'm happy and please and once again, waiting for TMNet technician to come and really resolve my problem.

I'm actually quite happy with their on site service schedule because they really come within 24 hours. They were at my house this morning and i told them again my problem, and once again, they checked my line. Suprisingly, i got a different solution this time! They said i need to change/add my splitter. My telephone configuration is like 1 wire to my house, from house it splits into 2 lines. One goes up to room, one goes down to streamyx and living room phone. I only have one splitter at the living room and i have been using it without any problem since i subscribed streamyx many many years ago. The technician said without splitter at the above line, it will cause inteference and disturb the connection. I agreed with that. Then i told them what i should do. They said i need to change my current splitter connection to streamyx, add another splitter in my room phone. Then i shoot back, if the problem is with my splitter, why my connection is fine during day time? I got this very unexpected answer!

The answer is: "Day time is hot then cable is fine. When it comes to night time, it's cold. It affects the connection because you know, it expand and shirk and that's why it affects the connection"

I almost fell off my chair and i really have to let them go because i know this is not going to finish with all the Bu*****tting. Guys, come on, how cold is your area at night? Do you get snow at night? Does it make a big different between day and night? I know sometime i have to sleep naked and turn on my fan full blast to get sleep at night and you call that cold? I travel to some country with 4 seasons before and i don't even see a degrade in performance during winter time. Not even at heavy storm or or heavy snow. Right at this very place in Malaysia, which is a tropical country, you tell me hot and cold is a problem to the cable? Then i think you should change your cable... or i should change my provider. I let them go because i know these guys is going to talk more craps that makes me unhappy. So why bother listening to them?

TMNet is going to lose a customer soon. Thanks for your awful service these years.

As the title above, does anyone get holds of the driver?

I bought it few days ago and it worked on vista at the shop that's selling. Im assuming it work in Windows 7 too.
I installed the software and driver that came with the modem (inside the build in memory), the program installed but modem can't be detected.

The weird thing i found out is the software detects the hardware, but maybe something prevent it from running. Because when i disconnect it from USB, the software said "Device is moved..." but when it's been plugged in it said "checking modem". After the checks, nothing happens.

If anyone with this issue before and have resolved it, please let me know thanks.

picture of the product:

front:

back:

Hi all,

I'm thinking of switching my current web server, from a provider to another.

Will it affect my search result on Google, Yahoo?

FYI, the server is currently in Malaysia. I'm paying too much and found out a better server to rent..

Thanks

Way to Finance RM100k

Hi guys,

I been working few years now and wasn't really happy with what i earned. My income per month is at RM2200++ and i think that's really gonna take long time to save money for my wedding.

However, i got a job offer from my dad's friend, which requires me to certify myself as a professional. The guaranteed income every month is about RM10k and above. I saw his contract is RM27k last month.

I know you guys will ask what kind of job it is. It's high risk high pay job. If you want to know more, please PM me

Now, my problem is that the certification will cost me a lot of money. probably i will say 60k include course fee, airfare and accommodation.

So i'm in the process of searching for money to finance my study. First i'm thinking to refinance my parents house. But it doesn't sounds so good. Second, I asked for study loan. Unfortunately, JPA doesn't recognize it in Malaysia. So bad luck . Third, I seek for personal loan, which the maximum amount is 3 time my salary. Which mean RM6,600 (just enough for airfare and accommodation)

My question is now where else I can seek for more money to fund my study? I know it sounds like I'm a beggger, but just want to seek help from professional guys like you all. Thanks

Identify Dog Breed

I found a puppy on the street and adopted it. This is how he looks when the first day i got him

And now he looks like

I'm not sure whether or not he is a 'local dog' because he doesn't looks like one of those. Or maybe it is a local dog? You tell me!

Anyway, this dog is very clever and learn thing very fast. Very obedient, eat a lot and very active. At first i thought he might be sherperd dog. But the sherperd dog doesn't looks 100% like him.

So guys, just help me to identify if you know.. thanks

Intellisense in InterDev

I found out that i need to open a new topic becuase no one talk about this before.

I'm working with a COM+ component on a IIS webserver on Win server 2003. The COM+ was wrote by someone to simplify most of the task to reduce communication with server at minimal basis. I tried Visual InterDev and found out it only show the intellisense for ASP object like response and server

What we do normally in VB6 is we import the dll as a Reference and it will show its intellisense. I found out there is no way we can import the COM+ to VisualInterDev. Anyone have any idea on how to do it? I need it so that i can learn the propertise, method, faster..

Hope i make it clear..

For those who don't know what Intellisense is... check the pic below:
