Investment advice club

I am not into stocks, plain FDs and EPF, that’s me.

But a few of my friends have been in a group Whatsapp called BOCI club. Has anyone heard of them? My friends said it is only for getting stock picking advice and they’ve been making money. But why would anyone give advice to others when they could use the advice to make money for themselves?

I hope it’s not a prelude to something more serious. My friends only have a small limited amount to risk.

Microsoft office installation error

I thought it was a good deal after checking the price and reviews. It was also a seller in Lazmall which is supposedly more stringent, what rubbish.

Anyway the home and student office 2021 product key seemed legit. Downloaded it and I could see it in my account with an old item. I was so happy.

Then I clicked on the installer pkg and I got installation error and to contact the manufacturer. All the support webs were for the US buyers. BTW Lazada replied it is unrefundable. Anyway, that’s a whole separate rot.

Can I salvage this product?

How to assess fund management firms?
I did some googling for a cousin who wants to diversify from the usual real estate and ASB. Maybe I could follow him.

He mentioned Citadel company but my googling says the Citadel Trustees in the UK has legal problems last year.
The Malaysian company has the same name.
Are they the same?

Who is at the front door?

There are so many topics on cctv, door viewer, monitor, alarms etc.
I would appreciate a simple solution to see and record who is at my front door ( only external door to a small apartment) and when I am not around, it will record anyone snooping and also works as a door bell.

I found digital door viewer which could do all that without a door bell. Shopee carries some brand to Phillips and the price ranges from rm 98 to 1000+.

There is an all in one digital door viewer cum doorbell costing less than 200. While I like low prices, I know quality of electricals vary directly with price.

Can I have suggestions please?

How to recover files from internal HD?

Sorry if someone has asked this question, but no results with search.
My old but trustworthy workstation broke down. I did not realise that the desk near the air well was nice and breezy, but sadly blows in rainwater too. It performed for two years since I moved to this new place, but stopped functioning two weeks ago. I was going to back up the files last week but I forgot. So two weeks of work and downloads are in the harddisk to be backedup.

Sorry for the long story but I am still upset over my loss. All due to my carelessness.

I was thinking of removing the harddisk and install it into a workstation that I plan to buy.
Can someone tell me what I should look for in buying a computer that would be compatible with the harddisk? I cannot find the same model - it came out 10 years ago. Dell Precision 390.

How to camouflage surface wiring?

I was so looking forward to renovate my apartment, but just the contractor is about to start, the management told me that only surface ( unconcealed wiring) can be used to add new points. I have about 9 additional power points, light points, a/c points....

I need advice on what to do so that the wires do not look so unsightly. Moving is not option.
Thank you in advance.

Gated properties in Ipoh

For a small town (never mind if it claims to be 3rd largest city or what not) Ipoh has its fair share of robbery, rape, murder and people are not happy about the state of security. Naturally the word gated and guarded become a selling point for developers and house sellers. Enter gullible me looking for a house. What an eye opener!

One area that I checked out was part of a new mixed township. There was a young Indian looking guy, most likely in his twenties and most likely a foreigner ( he couldn't speak Malay much) at the entrance and on one side an almost 10 ft high fencing but when you drove further in, the fence was barely 5 ft high and on the opposite side, facing the main road there was a storm drain with just barriers that one could climb over. They must think that criminals will not cross a 3 ft wide storm drain.

In another big area that claimed to be high class resort living (developer's), there were two Indian guards at the entrance but the place was practically deserted being new. The fence was barely 5 ft tall, chain-linked type and could be cut with a pair of kitchen shears.

Another resort has about 8 ft high solid wall with a good size guardhouse, but way towards the hills they use 10 ft high fence which can be scaled and it was scaled since I knew a Mat Salleh's house was burgled.

But I did find an enclave of about 15 semi Ds surrounded by 10ft fencing and guarded by 3 Indians. I am too tired to go for more house hunting, well more like disappointed.

hp pavillion dv2106tx
I am seriously thinking of buying HP Pav. dv2106tx in the next few weeks, but am not sure if I should wait for windows vista to come out. Has any one bought or used the model and its windows MCE OS? It niggles at me that HP has 'XP professional recommended', then they load these notebooks with XP MCE which I read was really XP Home ++
