Decent mid-range smart TVs

Hi, I'm looking for a Smart TV, 50"/55" within a RM2.3k budget and preferably from the 3 reputable brands (Sony, LG and Samsung). As I don't have Astro and slowly converting my home into a smart home, smart app features like Netflix ,youtube and google assistant integration is very important. This TV is also mainly for my parents so its has be a little more user friendly.

So from my research Samsung's Tizen OS is not as great and does not fully support google assistant yet which leaves me with Sony and LG. For the Sony I have narrowed down to the Sony X7000F and the LG UK6300. I have a few questions regarding this TVs.

1. Which are more value for money in terms of picture quality and also the smart features that it offers.
2. Is it safe to buy TVs from Lazada as it seems to be significantly cheaper than stores that i find?
3. For the LG it seems that stores sell the UK6320 version while lazada sell the UK6300 version, are there any difference?
4. One of the stores mentioned that lots of customers complain about LG OS that it keeps crashing, is this true?
5. Are there any good stores that you can recommend to puchase TVs, as I stay in the Petaling Jaya area but Im willing to travel far for a good deal.

Another concern I have is about the sound system. Is the typical TV sound system good enough as I see lots of people saying that soundbars are a necessity in new TVs? As I'm quite limited with my budget are cheap soundbars like within RM700 worth puchasing and is there any that can be recommended?

Thanks in advanced for the help. I'm trying to get this gift as a fathers day gift so it if I can get it within these two weeks will be great. Thanks again.

PowerColor RMA in Malaysia

Hi, I'm planning on getting a RX580 card for my new system. My options are the MSI RX580 GAMING X or the POWERCOLOR RX580 Red Devil Golden. Initially I was set with buying the MSI but there is no stock and most shops say stock will come in till june/july only. Whereas i found a seller for powercolor version for a dirt cheap price of RM1350 whereas other seller sell that card for RM1500++. Now the problem is the power color only have 2 years warranty compared to 3 years for other cards and some people say the RMA service of powercolor in malaysia is bad. So has anyone purchase powercolor from Malaysia before and experience their service? and Do you think 2 years of warranty is enough?
I really need help as I'm not sure since this is my first build. Thank you!

Disadvantages of cheap cases

Hi,
I'm building my first PC with the following specs :
- Ryzen 1600
- Asus PRIME B350 PLUS (ATX)
- MSI RX 580 GAMING X 8GB
- 2x8GB RIPJAWS V 2400
- 250GB SAMSUNG 850 EVO
- Corsair CX650M 650 Watt (Semi modular)

Now all thats left is to buy a case. I planning to build a case in a desk like 2 years now when I have the space at time. So I'm not really looking for a long term case. My question is can I buy a cheap case like Armaggeddon or Segotep cases? What are the downside of it?

My current options are the Armaggedon Decatron T3Z
[attachmentid=8783125]

and the Segotep K6
[attachmentid=8783130]

This cases are super cheap at RM90. So most people say cheap cases have bad air flow but these looks fine and I will replace the stock fans with some good quality fans. Then some say cheap cases have bad cable management but they both have plenty of holes and space at the back for cables. So what else should I be looking out for? And also can anyone recommend any good cheap case fans?
Thank you very much!

Unifi Wifi Router or Ethernet cable

Hi,
I'm a student living in a condominium by renting a room. We just ordered Unifi for the house and the router will be placed quite near to my room. I use the internet and game a lot. Based on my previous experience the unifi routers are pretty bad. So should I buy a long Ethernet cable and connect it directly from the router to my room? Also i read somewhere that in short range ethernet cables doesnt really make a difference. So since to get a 15 meter cable is quite expensive I dunno if i should invest in it.
Unifi vs Broadband services

Hi,

Me and my friend are university students who just moved in to Cyberia Smarthomes,Cyberjaya and we need to pick an internet plan. I stay there basically everyday. I have regular skype calls, play Dota regularly and watch lots of youtube videos. Obviously, we wanted to choose TIME internet but TIME doesnt have coverage area in our condo. So now we are stuck with unifi or a broadband service like Umobile or Digi. Which is more worth it? Unifi seems a little wasting because we don't need the hypp TV and stuff. But the broadband services have limited data and I hear its very unstable. What do you guys think?

Hi
Im planning on getting a phone and have narrowed it down to :-
Xiaomi RedMi Note 3(Snapdragon) : http://www.directd.com.my/redmi-note-3-ori
Xiaomi RedMi Note 3 Pro : http://www.directd.com.my/redmi-note-3pro

They both seem identical when both is chosen to have 3GB RAM but the pro is more expensive by RM100 .
Zenfone Max vs Redmi Note 3 Pro vs Xperia M4

Hey,
I'm need to get a new phone with a budget of around RM800. I don't need a very high end phone and prefer a phone which can have a long life span as I don't change my phone often. I also don like huge phone so I prefer 5.0 inch phones but don't mind 5.5 inch. I have narrowed down my options to Zenfone Max, Redmi Note 3 Pro, Redmi 3 and Xperia M4. They are all within my budget but I can't decide which to pick. Redmi Note 3 is clear that it has the better specs but I heard it has a very short general life span. Is that true? My main concern is the life span even if I have to sacrifice specs for it. Also which company is more willing to keep updating their software and maybe even update to marshmallow eventually?
Thank you!

Buying Electronics in Malaysia

I'm buying some electronics for a project and need components which are quite expensive. Initially I saw lots of cheap components from ebay which is shipped from china but according to my lecturer china electronics are very bad quality and produce an unstable current. Then I went to Pasar Road and they were all 3x more expensive then the china products and they didnt have all the products either. Then I check online shops like element14.my, RSonline, Texas Instruments etc and they were about the same price from pasar road or even more expensive. Then I checked lelong.my, it was cheaper than Pasar Road and other online electronics store but more expensive than china products.

How is the electric components from lelong so cheap? Are they just china products sold in malaysia or are they made in malaysia? Overall are the products from lelong.my trustable and is it made locally/ not in china? Thank you!!

Zenfone 2 or Zenfone Max

Hi,
I want to get an Android smartphone at a budget of about RM700-800. I not a very phone person, so I don need a very high performance phone cause i don use it much. I don't game, I just use it for basic apps like social media and a little surfing the net and a good battery. And most importantly I want this phone to have a good life span of about 3-4 years. So I kind of narrowed down my options to Asus Zenfone 2(2GB RAM) or Asus Zenfone Max. I know a lot of people would say to go for Redmi Note 3 which is much cheaper and have better specs but from what i hear it has a very short life span of about 1.5 years.

So I want to ask does Asus Zenfone have a long lifespan? And I wanted to get Zenfone 2 for its good performance with 1.8GHz processor but it has battery problem according to reviews. Zenfone Max only has a processor of 1.2GHz but has a really good battery that can last for 2 days with normal usage. So is Zenfone Max a good tradeoff for the battery capacity to performance? And lastly is there any other phones that are very good, long life span and within the price range.

Thank you. Any comment is much appreciated.

Propane Tank

Hi,
I'm trying to build metal melting foundry to work on some metal casting projects at home. I have seen a lot of foundry with coal as fuel but that is fairly inefficient and costly. Every time i need to use it i have to use a whole bunch of coal even I need it for awhile only. So I want to use propane as the fuel. Where can I find it and how much is it roughly? And is there any places I can refill the tank easily? Thanks for your time!!

Building a simple media PC

I have a very old desktop about 7 years old and its in a very bad condition and can be barely used. It was a home computer before this and now not many people use it anymore. So I would like to convert it to a media PC to attach it to my TV. I just want a simple media PC that I can watch streams and watch downloaded movies in good quality(Full HD) and just simple PC uses. So I was thinking of upgrading my old PC to a media PC by changing some parts like the graphic cards and all. Bare in mind this is my first time attempting to build a computer so im not very knowledgeable on it. However, I do know the basics of each components in the PC. These are the specs of my old pc ;-
-AMD Athlon™ 64x3 Dual Core Processor 4200 + 2.2GHz
-3.00 GB RAM
-NVIDIA GeForce 7300LE
-250GB HDD harddisk
-32-bit Operating System

When I opened up the PC it was in a bad condition and full of dust. When I took out the heat sink, the CPU was stuck to it so I think I damaged the pins of the CPU when I took it out.( But I wanted to change that anyway) By the looks of it there is barely anything I can salvage other than the case. I have attach some photos to show you the condition of it.

I would like to ask some help on some links or even directly and the question on is it possible to salvage anything(motherboard maybe) and what components should I be looking for the uses I want it to carry out. I know a lot of ppl will suggest to just buy a brand new desktop but I really to try build this for the experience so I can build a better PC next time in the future. My budget is hopefully around RM700.

Thank you very much, Every answer is much appreciated.

[attachmentid=4999753]
[attachmentid=4999755]
[attachmentid=4999764]
[attachmentid=4999765]
[attachmentid=4999767]

Online electronic store

Hi,

I have just started getting myself involve in electronics with arduino and learning the basics. I plan to get more components for my project but sadly i cant find all them in Pasar Road where I normally go too. Are there any online electronics shop in Malaysia that does not charge a lot for delivery to Petaling Jaya area? I the only online shop i could find was my.element14.com but their products was quite expensive and accommodates big time suppliers mainly.

Secondly, are they any shops online or not online shops that sell 8 gauge copper wire? I need it for a project that I'm working which is needed to rewire the secondary on a transformer. As this secondary will be carrying high current I need a thick copper wire. Base on many tutorials 8 gauge wire is the most recommended. I need about 50ft of it. Where can I get some and what is the price range?

Thanks for the help, I'm just a college student trying work on projects at home. Any commends is much appreciated.

TQ

I need parts from an old used microwave (transformers) for a project. Is there any junkyards near selangor/Kl, Malaysia that can provide me with this at a cheap price. It doesn't have to be working microwave.
