iPhone xs max faceid prob

Hello guys, my xsmax faceid is not working. Sent to service provider checking they say the diagnostic fail need to send in.

After a day they send me an email say got liquid contact hence warranty void! And quote me 3300 for replacement!

They tell me iPhone is water resistant not water proof, but I definitely didn’t drop into water or pools. If kena rain those of coz got la.

Anyone can give me any idea? It’s not logic at all since I’ve been only using it for few months.
