Hi guys,

cut the story short. I had this laptop working (connect to HDMI TV, TV1), but it didn't work again after it display black screen (TV) and no sound on my second TV. Then, it no longer display output on TV1 anymore.

currently on Windows 10. Revert back to factory reset (windows 7), but still no luck.

Other than the HDMI, everything still works well.

troubleshooting:

1.) using mini HDMI converter + HDMI = no luck
2.) Factory restore to windows 7 = no luck
3.) bought a new Mini HDMI-HDMI cable = no luck

There are bunch of forum on the internet, discussing the problem with this laptop + HDMI issue. Most of them suggest driver issue. but couldnt find a real solution for this.

any software can check whether the MINI HDMI port is in working condition?

Whoever has this laptop had/having this issue?

H87 B85 overclock Haswell K cpu

ASUS Brings Haswell Processor Overclocking to H87 and B85 Motherboards

UEFI BIOS update for ASUS motherboards based on Intel H87 and B85 chipsets unlocks overclocking features for new 4th generation Intel Core K Series chips

Taipei, Taiwan (12 July, 2013) — ASUS today announced that the latest UEFI BIOS for its motherboards based on Intel® H87 and B85 chipsets unlocks previously inaccessible overclocking features for 4th generation Intel Core™ processors.

Before this update, the overclocking features of new Haswell ‘K Series’ processors could be enjoyed only with motherboards based on the Intel Z87 chipset. Now, however, performance enthusiasts can exploit the power of Haswell K Series processors using ASUS 8 Series motherboards like the ASUS H87M-PRO and B85-PRO.

Extra performance — no extra cost

The BIOS update is a free download for 10 ASUS motherboards — the H87-PRO, H87-PLUS, H87M-PRO, H87M-PLUS, H87M-E, H87I-PLUS, B85-PRO, B85-PLUS, B85M-E and B85M-G.

Once installed, the update enables frequency multiplier-based overclocking in one simple step for unlocked Intel K Series processors such as the Intel Core i7-4770K and Core i5 4670K. The BIOS also includes several features to make life simpler for PC users. A ‘Last Modified’ log makes it easy to determine when and how a particular setting was changed, and custom settings can be saved to a ‘favorites’ list for rapid switching to suit different applications.

All-around protection for superior reliability

All ASUS motherboards based on Intel 8 Series chipsets feature high-endurance 5X Protection technology for the ultimate in reliability and durability. DIGI+ VRM voltage regulation ensures precise digital control over power delivery to the processor for reduced energy consumption and enhanced stability, while resettable fuses protect I/O ports and DIMM slots from short circuits and voltage spikes.

Electrostatic-discharge guards also protect sensitive components from electromagnetic interference and high-quality solid capacitors that are industry-rated for a lifespan for over 50 years of continuous use under typical operating conditions (at 65 degrees Centigrade) — over twice as long as traditional electrolytic capacitors.

The newly enabled overclocking features for Intel Haswell K Series processors and the superior reliability of 5X Protection technology reaffirm the ASUS commitment to giving customers the best in PC performance at a price they can afford.

AVAILABILITY & PRICING

ASUS motherboards based on Intel 8 Series chipsets are available now. Please contact your local ASUS representative for further information. UEFI BIOS updates for ASUS motherboards based on Intel H87 and B85 chipsets can be downloaded from:

H87-PRO: www.asus.com/Motherboards/H87PRO/#support_Download_35

H87I-PLUS: www.asus.com/Motherboards/H87IPLUS/#support_Download_35

H87M-PRO: www.asus.com/Motherboards/H87MPRO/#support_Download_35

H87M-PLUS: www.asus.com/Motherboards/H87MPLUS/#support_Download_35

H87M-E: www.asus.com/Motherboards/H87ME/#support_Download_35

H87-PLUS: www.asus.com/Motherboards/H87PLUS/#support_Download_35

B85-PRO: www.asus.com/Motherboards/B85PRO/#support_Download_35

B85-PLUS: www.asus.com/Motherboards/B85PLUS/#support_Download_35

B85M-E: www.asus.com/Motherboards/B85ME/#support_Download_35

B85M-G: www.asus.com/Motherboards/B85MG/#support_Download_35

For more information, see www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Platform_Products

Source

Other motherboard manufacturers are following the trail.

Anyone here has tried the latest BIOS on H87/B85 chipset mobo?

I could/might need to top up RM200-300 MAX to upgrade (sell my i5), for "FUTURE PROOF"?
2.) will only use the rig to play Dota2/LOL, and photoshop.
3.) IF the upgrade is not required, maybe will use the money to get a HD7750 2GB GDDR5 (any different against GDDR3 version)?
4.) Another 4GB ram will be added.

Last question:
I believe this rig will still serve me well for the next, 2-3years, at least?
