There is no place for racism in football

It makes me feel mad while reading this article

British Soccer Fans Harass Black Man on Subway: ‘We’re Racist, and That’s the Way We Like It’

Amateur footage obtained by the Guardian newspaper captured the incident in a Metro station shortly before Chelsea’s 1-1 Champions League draw with Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital on Tuesday evening.

It shows a group of men chanting “Chelsea, Chelsea!” standing in a packed train waiting at a platform.

The unidentified black man repeatedly tries to squeeze into the carriage and they aggressively push him back. The film then cuts to the men chanting: “We’re racist, we’re racist, and that’s the way we like it!”

In a statement, Chelsea said the incident was “abhorrent” and had “no place in football or society.”

They added: “We will support any criminal action against those involved, and should evidence point to involvement of Chelsea season-ticket holders or members, the club will take the strongest possible action against them, including banning orders.”

French state prosecutors announced that they have opened an investigation into “deliberate racial violence on public transport.”

London police said they would assist their French counterparts with their inquiries.

“We will examine the footage with a view to seeing if we can apply for football banning orders, preventing people from traveling from future matches,” New Scotland Yard said in a statement.

European football’s governing body UEFA said it was “appalled” by the fans’ behaviour, but said that because the incident had occurred outside the stadium, it was “outside UEFA’s remit” to act upon it.

Sepp Blatter, president of world governing body FIFA, wrote on Twitter: “I also condemn the actions of a small group of Chelsea fans in Paris. There is no place for racism in football!”

England’s Football Association said: “The FA, like the club, completely condemn such disgraceful behaviour, which is a criminal offence, and those responsible should face the strongest possible punishment.”

The footage was filmed by Paul Nolan, a Briton living in Paris. He told the Guardian he was “completely appalled” by what he saw at Richelieu-Drouot station in central Paris.

A Chelsea supporter who claimed to have been on the train said the man had only been pushed away because the carriage was full.

“He tried to get on and a few people were pushing him off because there wasn’t much space on the carriage. You couldn’t move,” Mitchell McCoy, 17, told Britain’s Press Association.

“People were saying it was because he was black. It’s not true at all.”

But Chelsea fanzine editor David Johnstone expressed fears for the club’s reputation in light of the incident, telling BBC radio “all the supporters are going to be labelled as racist.”

English football grappled with serious racism throughout the 1970s and 1980s, when black players were regularly subjected to verbal abuse by supporters.

It has since been largely disappeared from English grounds, although there have been a number of high-profile incidents involving players in recent years.

Chelsea’s captain, John Terry, was banned for four matches and fined £220,000 ($340,000, 300,000 euros) in 2012 after the FA found that he had racially abused an opponent. He retired from the England team as a result.

Herman Ouseley, chairman of anti-racism organisation Kick it Out, said the incident in Paris showed that there was still much work to be done to combat discrimination.

“Clearly it sends out a strong signal to not only Chelsea, but the whole of football, that you cannot be complacent and think the actions you’re taking are sufficient to deal with the scourge of racism, sexism, homophobia and anti-Semitism,” he said. “We’ve got to do a lot more and not be complacent.”

The Football Supporters’ Federation, which represents fans in England and Wales, said in a statement: “This is a shocking incident and the overwhelming majority of Chelsea fans will be disgusted by it.”

Source: The Guardian
Alternet
Youtube

If I offered you $100,000 to jump out of a plane without a parachute, would you do it? I bet you said NO!
But, what if I told you, the plane is on the ground?

Moral of this story: know all the facts before you open your mouth.

Faith of humanity restored

How Foreign Workers Of A Kebab Stall Made Sure Marina Mahathir Got Her Lost iPad Back

It was 12 February 2015, Marina Mahathir was spending some time in Low Yat Plaza and stopped at a kebab stall for a quick takeaway. After ordering, she hurried off.

An hour later, Marina's secretary received a call from a stranger - a man asking if she had left her "wallet" behind at the kebab stall. Marina checked and saw her wallet still intact, but her iPad was missing.

The man turned out to be a Bangladeshi who works at the kebab stall. He had found her name card in the iPad case and called her office to let her know that he had her tablet.

Marina's office boy then returned to the kebab stall in Low Yat Plaza to pick up the iPad, but it wasn't as simple as that.

The kebab guys did not want to release the iPad to him. The reason was simple: how would they know he was genuine?

Marina's office boy had to prove to the Bangladeshis that he really works for her. He had to gain their trust.

The kebab guys listened and eventually returned the iPad to him, but not before treating him to a cup of coffee. However, because they were not allowed to eat or drink from the shop's supplies, they made him instant coffee they had bought themselves.

As they talked over coffee, the Bangladeshis shared stories of how they had to foot RM7,000 to get their own work visas because their employers would not do it for them. This was a notion Marina thought was preposterous.

Marina got her iPad back safely along with the case and everything in it. In a time when society typically stereotypes foreign workers as the reason for rising crime, the kebab guy's display of honesty and kindness touched her heart.

Not only has the kebab guy restored Marina's faith in humanity, it also warmed the heart of those who came across the story on Marina's Facebook page

In the very last of three Facebook posts she dedicated to the kebab guys, Marina shared a picture of Munir Hossain, the kebab seller who returned her iPad

Marina hasn't had time to return to Low Yat Plaza to thank him herself, but invites everyone to go to the kebab stall at the basement food court to say hello to Munir Hossain and his colleagues, and tell them that she is very grateful

Source: <referral link removed>
Facebook page

Friday The 13th

Does anyone realizes it's Friday The 13th today..

Friday the 13th, also known as Black Friday in some countries, is considered an unlucky day in Western superstition. It occurs when the 13th day of the month in the Gregorian calendar falls on a Friday. There is no written evidence for a "Friday the 13th" superstition before the 19th century, and the superstition only gained widespread distribution in the 20th century. The fear of the number 13 has been given a scientific name: triskadekaphobia; and on analogy to this the fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskevidekatriaphobia, from the Greek words Paraskeví (Παρασκευή, meaning "Friday"), and dekatreís (δεκατρείς, meaning "thirteen").

Source: Wikipedia

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTgFtxHhCQ0

Super-Spyware Regin malware detected in TM Network

Super-Spyware Regin malware detected in Telekom Malaysia network

Kaspersky Lab’s Global Research and Analysis Team has published its research on Regin, pronounced “region” – the first cyber-attack platform known to target Telcos with GSM standard mobile networks for surveillance.
The attackers behind this platform have compromised computer networks in at least 14 countries around the world.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Five stages of Regin Malware infection: Executing the first stage starts a domino chain of decryption and loading of each subsequent stage for a total of five stages. Each individual stage provides little information on the complete package. Only by acquiring all five stages is it possible to analyze and understand the threat.

Kaspersky’s report on Regin shows it has the ability to infiltrate GSM phone networks. The malware can receive commands over a cell network, which is unusual.
According to an activity log obtained by Kaspersky Lab researchers during the investigation, attackers were able to obtain credentials that would allow them to control GSM cells in the network of a large cellular operator. This means that they could have had access to information about which calls are processed by a particular cell, redirect these calls to other cells, activate neighbor cells and perform other offensive activities. At the present time, the attackers behind Regin are the only ones known to have been capable of doing such operations. Regin was used to execute commands on 136 different GSM cells between April 2007 and May 2008, according to the log file Kaspersky found.
Currently, there are no reports on whether the Regin malware is able to penetrate 3G & 4G LTE networks as well.

Quick facts about the Regin malware according to Kaspersky Lab:

1. The main victims of this actor are: telecom operators, governments, financial institutions, research organizations, multinational political bodies and individuals involved in advanced mathematical/cryptographical research.

2. Victims of this actor have been found in Algeria, Afghanistan, Belgium, Brazil, Fiji, Germany, Iran, India, Indonesia, Kiribati, Malaysia, Pakistan, Syria and Russia.

3. The Regin platform consists of multiple malicious tools capable of compromising the entire network of an attacked organization The Regin platform uses an incredibly complex communication method between infected networks and command and control servers, allowing remote control and data transmission by stealth.

4. One particular Regin module is capable of monitoring GSM base station controllers, collecting data about GSM cells and the network infrastructure.

5. Over the course of a single month in April 2008 the attackers collected administrative credentials that would allow them to manipulate a GSM network in a Middle Eastern country.

6. Some of the earliest samples of Regin appear to have been created as early as 2003.

Kaspersky Lab detected the malware in Malaysia and a reliable source indicate that there was only a single victim- Telekom Malaysia (TM does not operate a GSM network). According to an anonymous source from Kaspersky Lab that MalaysianWireless communicated via email, the Regin malware was detected within Telekom Malaysia’s network in August 2014. The research team was unable to determine if customer’s PC or the operator itself was infected however said that the threat was detected in an offline system, such as on a disk. No further details were provided as the investigations were ongoing.
MalaysianWireless was unable to request Telekom Malaysian for a comment as all attempts to contact the Group’s Corporate Communication team were ignored.
As for the other Telcos in Malaysia, sources told MalaysianWireless that Maxis & Celcom are aware of the Regin malware and is taking all necessary actions to keep the mobile network secure.
Despite online security companies have been aware of the Regin malware since 2003-2008, it was only revealed in a detailed report last week. First detailed by security and antivirus vendor Symantec, Regin is described by US-CERT as being able to “take control of input devices, capture credentials, monitor network traffic, and gather information on processes and memory utilisation”.
The highly customizable nature of Regin, which Symantec labeled a “top-tier espionage tool,” allows for a wide range of remote access Trojan capabilities, including password and data theft, hijacking the point-and-click functions of a mouse, and capturing screenshots from infected PCs. Other infections were identified monitoring network traffic and analyzing email from Exchange databases. It looks to be one of the most advanced pieces of super-spyware code yet found.
Symantec found that almost half of all infections targeted private individuals and small businesses (48%), followed by telecom companies (28%), hospitality (9%) and others.
In terms of geography, Russian Federation accounted for 28 per cent of the infections, Saudi Arabia (24%), Mexico and Ireland (9% each), India, Afghanistan and Pakistan (5 % each).
US-CERT is recommending users and administrators implement and maintain antivirus software, and also keep their operating systems and application software up to date.

LINK - Kaspersky Lab’s report on Regin Malware- GSM Networks

LINK- Symantec’s report on Regin

References from MalaysianWireless:http://sh.st/ik1HM

6 THINGS TO DO BEFORE SELLING YOUR ANDROID DEVICE

While selling your Android device may seem like a no-brainer, there are actually quite a few steps you should take before you simply hand over your old phone to its new owner. It’s important to make sure all of your information is backed up, removed, and safely in your hands.

Let’s face it, there are some sketchy people out there. A lot of them are well-intentioned, trustworthy people that just want a sweet, inexpensive Android device. But then there are the bad eggs – people who want not only your device, but the data that comes with it – and there are a few things you can do to prevent that from happening.

Here are six important steps you should take before selling your Android device.

Deactivate your phone from your wireless carrier

First and foremost, this step should be done before you even mess with your device. It’s the step that many people forget to do, though it’s one of the most important steps. Not only does it set your buyer up for success, it causes a lot of headaches – for both parties – if skipped over.

If you neglect to remove the device from your service provider, your buyer won’t be able to activate it when the time comes to do so. What if they try to contact you to get it straightened out? They may not have your email address or your new number. In many cases, this will be done automatically if you transfer your existing number to your new phone, or if you have a GSM device and remove the SIM card. It would also be difficult to “forget” that you have an extra line on your account that you’re paying for. But it still does happen, so here’s your reminder to do so!

Back up your data

Before backing up your data to an external drive, it might be best to wait until you get your replacement device first. If you’re replacing a phone or a tablet, the easiest way to complete this step is to simply transfer all of your important data to your new device, rather than transferring it later. Android 5.0 Lollipop makes this step extremely easy, allowing you to copy all of your data to the new device during the set up process. If you aren’t replacing your device, here’s what you’ll need to do.

For most, the most important data is pictures, videos, and music, and that can be done as simply as removing your SD card and putting it in a computer to back up. If your current device doesn’t have an external memory card, you’ll need to connect the device to a computer with your MicroUSB cable. From here, you can drag and drop the files you need to your computer. If you’re using this method, many Android devices store multimedia files in the DCIM folder, so pay attention to that when you hook up your device.

Transferring contacts is even easier, since most users’ contacts are likely already synced with their existing Google account. Once you add in your Google account info to the new device, your contacts will appear automatically. One way to make sure your contacts are backed up is to head to Settings>Accounts>Google>your email address, then make sure “Contacts” is checked and synced.

For those looking for a ‘deeper’ backup solution, there’s plenty of solid software solutions out there to get the job done, including Titanium Launcher or Carbon.

Remove SIM/microSD cards

On some devices, contacts and call logs can be stored on your SIM or microSD cards, so it’s really important that you remove these before selling. Chances are, you’re not going to want to give up either of these when selling the device, so keeping them to yourself is a great way to ensure security.

If you do plan to give away your microSD card, be sure to at least back up the contents and thoroughly wipe the card.

Encrypt/factory data reset

Now here’s the fun part. Completely erasing your data, or performing a “factory data reset”, is the no-turning-back point of the process. Doing so can’t be reverted, so make sure you’ve followed the above steps before you perform this step. Before we get into the process of erasing your data, you’ll need to decide how trustworthy your buyer is. This can be hard to grasp, but there are a few extra steps you can take to ensure none of your data is compromised.

First, let’s start with the basics. Performing a factory data reset will be enough for most users, as it erases everything on the device. Once you perform one, your device will be back to factory settings and all of your information will be removed. The easiest way to do this is to head to Settings>Backup & reset> Factory data reset. You’ll likely need to enter in your PIN or passcode (if you have one set up). After this, your phone will get to work. It usually doesn’t take more than a few minutes for the process to complete. Keep in mind, if you kept a removable SD card in the device, the reset process likely didn’t erase the contents of the card.

When it comes to factory data resets, it erases most of the data on the device. There is a way to recover some leftover data that the reset likely missed, though it requires some digging. A way to more deeply secure your data from being stolen is to encrypt the device before performing the reset. Encrypting the device will ensure the data won’t be able to be recovered by anyone (except for maybe a super-hacker extraordinaire, but the odds are pretty low..). If you choose to encrypt, use our easy-to-follow guide on How to Encrypt Your Android Phone. After you encrypt the device, you can then perform a factory data reset.

Simply resetting the device will be enough for most users, but if you want some added comfort, encryption prior to the reset is the way to go. It’s also worth noting that you might need to relock your bootloader and perform other similar steps if you are someone that has modded your device, though really it depends on the buyer. Some buyers won’t mind if you leave your phone’s bootloader unlocked and/or have a custom ROM on there instead of the ‘default’.

Include/remove any spare accessories

When selling your device, it’s always important to include the stock accessories and extras that originally came with it, unless you’ve clearly told the buyer otherwise. Make sure to take out any aftermarket batteries you’re currently using. If it’s the only working battery you have for the device, make sure the buyer knows prior to the sale.

Clean it!

This is a small step, but we still find it important. Cleaning your device is a nice gesture, and makes the buyer feel like they’re getting their money’s worth. Wiping of the screen, removing any dust or build-up, and cleaning inside the ports is a great way to ensure your customer will be happy. In addition to cleaning it, it doesn’t hurt to have the device fully charged and ready to go for the new owner once they get their hands on it.

Well there you have it. If you follow these steps, your data will be safe and your selling process will go more smoothly than ever.

Reference from Android Authority:http://sh.st/ij6pW
