Router to Network Switches, it is possible?

I need help expert from this forum. Wifi wireless Signal/line in my room really weak because the router far from my room + thick wall. I have 2 laptop there & decided to use 2 Ethernet cable ( LAN CAT5e ). Problem now, I can only connect 1 Ethernet cable from router to my room. So to solve this, can I do like picture below;

Does this step solve my problem?

I saw most of Network Switches are 100mbps, but it is okay to use for 300mbps?

* I do have WiFi Range Extender, but I like use Ethernet LAN Cable , to me it more stable.

Already bought the SWITCH. The connection / speed (so far so) good & smooth . This is the switch ( so far ) that I found (online) cheap & have all that spec/fuction that I need/want. The switch really easy to use , light & small. Thank you to all replies who help me

Problem details
First occurence of problem: setup Asus RT-AC66U
Problem frequency: Always
Problem description: failed to setup router

I just bought Asus RT-AC66U hour ago to change the UniFi default D-link Router (DIR 615),
I follow every instructionn using this video

What is a good TM unifi router to speedup 1 mbps?

I use TM's Unifi 30Mbps and I use a router/modem supplied by TM (As shown below), at my apartment

but because my laptop is far from the router TM, my internet is slow and sometimes none at all.
Please refer image below to get a clear picture.

The highest internet speed that I can get from my room is 5 mbps but even then rarely and sometimes if everyone in my family use their laptop (5 people inclu me) I can only get 1 mbps and sometimes can't get at all.

So, I want to ask what is the good/best router for speed up my internet speed in my room (budget RM500-RM800?)
and is there any other option to make to speed my internet connection ( other than changing router)?
