Politician pension limits

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is appealing to politicians with multiple pensions to choose one.

He said this was the morally responsible choice.

Currently, politicians who have served in multiple roles, such as minister, menteri besar, assemblyperson and such can collect multiple pensions.

Meanwhile, Anwar said planned changes to do away with pensions for new civil servants will also apply to political appointees.

SEREMBAN - Sudah mempunyai dua isteri, namun suaminya masih bertindak curang sehingga pernah terkantoi apabila ‘kekasih gelapnya’ merupakan rakan sekerja isterinya.

Pasangan berkenaan telah mendirikan rumah tangga sejak 25 tahun lepas sebelum berkahwin lagi dengan isteri keduanya kira-kira lima tahun lepas di negara Thailand.

Jelas isteri pertamanya, yang mahu dikenali sebagai Mawar, 40, suaminya Rashid (bukan nama sebenar), 55, pada awal perkahwinan, suaminya itu melayannya dengan baik malah pandai menjaga anak serta tidak pernah gagal memberikan nafkah batin dan zahir.

“Semuanya baik-baik sahaja sehingga lima tahun lepas, dia membawa pulang sebuah kereta jenis Proton Persona ke rumah, katanya beli tunai di kedai.

“Bagaimanapun, semuanya hancur apabila suami mengakui ia merupakan pemberian isteri keduanya sebaik pulang dari Thailand," katanya.

Suami mendakwa dirinya tidak mendapat kepuasan yang baik daripadanya menyebabkan dia terpaksa berkahwin dengan seorang janda anak empat yang merupakan bekas kekasihnya pada zaman sekolahnya.

“Saya pernah minta diceraikan sebab jiwa saya terseksa dan rupanya ia tidak berakhir di situ apabila dia ‘kantoi’ curang lagi sekali dengan rakan sekerja madu saya.

“Ia berlaku apabila wanita itu juga merupakan isteri orang, berkenalan dengan Rashid melalui aplikasi Omi dengan nama Alias,” katanya.

A physician spreading conspiracies theories and unsubstantiated medical claims about COVID-19 said, "If I'm wrong, so be it," during an interview with CNN on Tuesday.

Dr. Rashid Buttar is a member of the "Disinformation Dozen," a group of anti-vaxxers responsible for almost two-thirds of COVID-19 misinformation, according to a 2021 report by the nonprofit Center for Countering Digital Hate. During an interview with CNN'S Drew Griffin, he repeated countless unfounded claims about COVID-19 vaccines.

Without any evidence, Buttar, who is licensed to practice in North Carolina, falsely said the COVID-19 vaccine killed more people than COVID-19 and is a means for mass genocide. He's been using his Twitter, Telegram, and website to urge people not to get vaccinated.

Griffin told Buttar - who at one point had 1.2 million followers before many of his social media accounts were suspended for spreading disinformation - that he had an "outsized influence" on people in terms of medical advice, to which Buttar agreed.

Buttar said he was "more than confident" in his ability to "look at the data." He did not specify to which data he was referring.

"If I'm wrong so be it, because I have to look at myself in the mirror every night when I go to bed and every morning when I get up, and I don't lose any sleep," Buttar said.

Countless studies have found that COVID-19 vaccines are extremely effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death.

According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, COVID-19 deaths in the US have surpassed 726,000.

The vast majority of recent deaths have been among the unvaccinated. In September the CDC found that unvaccinated people were 11 times more likely to die of COVID-19 than people who got their shots.

Government accused, LOL

JOHOR BARU: Two Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers were charged at the Sessions Court here with cheating an individual of RM40,000 last week.

Amir Izham Shahak, 32, who is the assistant superintendent at the MACC Kluang branch, pleaded guilty while Wan Kamarul Za'im Wan Mansor, 34, who is the superintendent at the Johor MACC, pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to them before Judge Ahmad Kamal Arifin Ismail.

According to the charge sheet, the two with common intentions, deceived a 35-year-old man by fraudulently encouraging him to hand over RM40,000 in cash to the two accused, with the alleged intention that they could help solve the case investigated by the Johor MACC on the individual.

The duo allegedly committed the act at a restaurant near Jalan Benut, Kampung Ibrahim Majid, Simpang Renggam on Oct 14 at 7.57pm.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police will call up a cosmetics entrepreneur to give a statement for allegedly violating movement restrictions under the national recovery plan.

Petaling Jaya district deputy police chief Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the police received a report regarding the matter at 4pm today.

He said a screenshot that showed the 34-year-old entrepreneur eating durians with several other individuals had gone viral yesterday.

“The cosmetics entrepreneur is a well-known celebrity and has many followers on social media,” he said in a statement today.

Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa was caught violating the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) for the third time.

He posted on Twitter about visiting former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s Kuala Lumpur home with his wife only to delete it after public outrage. House visits are not allowed during the lockdown.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rina Harun was also criticised for not complying with the SOP by hand-feeding a blind girl.

Her aide said this was done at the request of the child’s parents. Rina apologised.

Top North Korean officials sacked after 'crucial' Covid-19 incident

SEOUL (AFP): North Korean leader Kim Jong-un replaced several senior officials after a "crucial" coronavirus incident, state media reported Wednesday (June 30), potentially signalling a breach in the country's epidemic defences.

Pyongyang closed its borders in January last year to try to protect itself against the virus that first emerged in neighbouring China and has gone on to sweep the world.

It has not publicly confirmed any cases of the disease at any point, either in state media or in the test statistics it has disclosed to the World Health Organization.

But analysts said the latest development was a clear indication there had been infections in the isolated North, which is under international sanctions for its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programmes.

Officials had neglected their duties and caused a "crucial" incident, "creating a great crisis in ensuring the security of the state and safety of the people and entailed grave consequences", Kim told a politburo meeting, according to the state Korean Central News Agency.

It did not specify any details of what had happened.

But Kim added that cadres' "lack of ability and irresponsibility" had hindered important work, accusing them of "self-protectionism and passiveness".

The impoverished country's ramshackle health system and lack of medical supplies would leave it struggling to cope with a major Covid-19 outbreak.
