Can any business ask for your IC copy under KYC

Hello.

I know that there some financial institutions like Insurance Company, Investment Schemes that do require their customers to do KYC and verification before proceed to sign any financial agreements and plans.

However, does this also applies to any other sorts of Good and Services Business? I remember that Grab also do that. In my case, I wanted to sign up as membership for a shop that sells certain health products but they also ask the same KYC process like any of the financial company (e.g. give IC picture, take selfie holding IC, etc). How do I know that this types of stuffs wont get misused by any third party?

Hi Love Cupids, just need some advice here.

So, there's a girl i met a few months back in 2019. We started out as friends and we would really chat a lot during the day and night, and we exchanged a lot of our conversations of quite a lot different topics on WC. Since she has a very nice personality, I develop a love interests for her as time goes on since last 1.5 months. Since she was still studying for last semester, I do not wish to bother her with any sort of confessions or dates, so that she could focus on her study at that point of time. I do however manage to ask her out for our first meal together after her exams are over and both of us agree.

Since we didnt exchange our actual phone numbers at the beginning as she was not comfortable with it, I do respect her privacy we continued to chat on WC. Then it comes to the week before CNY eve 2020, we still exchange a lot messages as usual, but then a tragedy happened. Apparently, her phone broke out after that night, and she stopped replying the conversation entirely .

Initially, I thought if it was just her needing more space or having some trouble so I didnt message her at all for the whole weekend, except for some normal greetings, but she didnt replied as expected. So basically afterwards i only continued to message her on weekly basis for greetings and also sent her email just in case something happened but all of them are ignored.

Impatience and frustration gnawed my heart after this continue for almost a whole month of silence treatment without any explanation or knowledge of what actually happen. It took a best of me, so on the 15th message since 4 weeks, i wrote something harsh so that she could be at least honest to me on what actually happened. She finally then replied yesterday and explained the whole situation to me. However she also said that she's scared because she treat those messages as spammed messages over the course of her phone broken.

I tried to reconcile with her afterwards by explaining, but it seems she cannot forgive me for those messages. And ofc, it might be as well as the last message i sent to her may sounded a bit harsh. Still, I still really hope to reconcile with her and do not wish to abandon this relationship. Still, I aware that this is still 1 sided since i didn't do any confession or stuffs like that, but i wish do look forward into potential reconciliation of our misunderstanding.
