Streaming to TV setup options

Hi guys,

Weird question here..

I have a gaming rig that I plan to put upstairs in the study room with my wife's computer. However, I wish to be able to stream games and movies to the TV downstairs. My wife has stated that she doesn't want to hook up my desktop downstairs cos it would look ugly to have a huge PC in the living room. So my options are..

1. Hook up a laptop to TV to do "steam in-home streaming".
2. Wait for Steam Link to come out
3. Run a looong HDMI wire from desktop upstairs to TV downstairs
4.

Anyone know another method, or reliable streaming hardware?
If I have to get a laptop, Anyone know a very cheap laptop with hdmi output?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi,

I am thinking of buying a racing wheel for my PC.
Can anyone recommend a mid-range racing wheel that is compatible with most racing games?

Thanks!

Abel

Help with motherboard setup

Hi guys,

Recently, my 5-year old Dell Inspiron had trouble booting up. When I press the power button on the front panel, there would be a click, the fans would move a bit, then nothing happens. If I hold the power button, it would keep trying to start, but it never does. Similar to how a car would behave when you try to start it but the battery has died.

So I decided to change my power supply. I bought a CM G650M and replaced the defective Liteon 300W. At first, it worked, everything booted normally, and I could use the computer with no problems. However, when I got home from work the next day, I couldn't start it again.

This time though, when I press the Power button, the fans all run at full speed but nothing else happens. No beeps or anything showing on the monitor. I read that if you take out the RAM and it doesn't beep, the motherboard is probably damaged. So I bought a new LGA775 MSI G41M-P33 motherboard to replace my old Dell 0N826N.

I made sure I always touched the metal part of the case and connected everything the same as the old mobo (ie what cable goes where). But when I press the power button nothing happens. This time, seriously, nothing happens at all. The fans didn't run, no beep or click or anything.

To test, I tried plugging in only the wires from the power button (JFP1), from the power supply (PWR1 and PWR2), and the system fan. The fan ran on the old mobo (which tells me that the psu and power button is working), but nothing happens when they are plugged in to my new mobo.

Sorry for making you read such a long story and thank you if you did!

If anyone know what the problem is, please tell me! I have a feeling that the front panel connectors are different, but I am no expert.

(I know my system is old and I should upgrade/buy a new PC, so you don't have to tell me that. I was hoping to at least make this one last a bit longer.)

Thanks!

Difference between GTX 970 variants

Hi guys,

I am interested in purchasing the GTX 970 graphics card, but I see so many variants.
Can anyone tell me the difference between Zotac, Palit, MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte, Gainward, etc?

From what I can tell, MSI seems to be the most popular, but it is also more expensive. Is it worth it?
Zotac seems to be the cheapest.

Thanks all
