I have a 4G phone, with a Maxis Postpaid Line.

If I am not mistaken, any replacement SIM card obtained from a Maxis Service Center should be a 5G nano SIM card.

Can I use a 5G nano SIM card, in my 4G phone?

In other words, is the 5G nano SIM card backward compatible with my 4G phone?

I have no problem that my Maxis service is restricted to 4G.

Thank you.

Mutual Separation Scheme

Yesterday, my company offers Mutual Separation Scheme (MSS) to me, whereby upon my acceptance, the company will pay me a total sum based on years of employment and 3-month notice period.

If I do not accept MSS latest by next Monday, my company will proceed to retrench me, and pay me a sum based on just 3-month notice period.

The issue is that the total sum is less than the amount stipulated in Employment (Termination and Lay-Off Benefits) Regulations 1980, Employment Act 1955.

I have worked in the company for 7 years.

The calculation of the total sum by my company:

Termination Benefit: 7 years ÷ 2 = 3.5 months of salary

Benefit due to termination without notice = 3 months of salary

Total MSS sum offered by my company = 3.5 + 3 = 6.5 months of salary

However, the following is the calculation based on Employment (Termination and Lay-Off Benefits) Regulations 1980.
- 20 days salary for each year of service if the employee has served 5 years or more.

20 days x 7 = 140 days

140 days / 30 days = 4.6 months

Calculation of total MSS sum = 4.6 months + 3 months (notice period) = 7.6 months of salary
- more than 6.5 months of salary offered by my company.

There is a clause in the MSS letter, indicating that after I signed the letter and accepted 6.5 months of salary, I cannot request the company to give me additional money (1.2 month of salary in this case), in order to comply with Employment Act.

Anyhow, I will highlight this issue to HR, and hope that HR will revise the total MSS sum, as per Employment Act.

However, what should I solve the issue, if HR refuses to revise the total MSS sum, as per Employment Act?

1) Decline the MSS, and lodge a complaint in Labour Office.
- I am afraid that this takes a long time, and the MSS offer will expire and become worthless. Then, my company will proceed to retrench me, and pay me a sum based on just 3-month notice period.

Or,

2) Sign the MSS, and accept 6.5 months of salary, as the total MSS sum offered by the company.

Thank you.

Jadual 17 Consent to Transfer Ownership

I am currently engaging a lawyer to perform the perfection of the individual strata title of a subsale property (a unit in an apartment).

When the housing loan for this subsale property (in Kuala Lumpur) was approved several months ago, the individual strata title has not yet been issued.

One document required for the perfection of the individual strata title is Jadual 17: Permohonan Kebenaran Untuk Pindahmilik Tanah, Bahagian Tanah, Pajakan, Pajakan Kecil, Gadaian. This form can be downloaded from https://www.ptgwp.gov.my/portal/web/guest/muat-turun-borang, under the section "Bahagian Pembangunan dan Kebenaran Pindah Milik".

According to my lawyer, Jadual 17 should be submitted by the developer to Pejabat Pengarah Tanah dan Galian Wilayah Persekutuan. Plus, the developer should bear the cost of RM 100 for the submission of Jadual 17, to be paid to Pejabat Pengarah Tanah dan Galian Wilayah Persekutuan. This should be consistent for all unit owners for the apartment, because the developer should seek blanket consent on the behalf of all unit owners.

Somehow, the developer refuses to submit Jadual 17 and bear the cost of RM 100, and instructs my lawyer to submit Jadual 17. If that is the case, I have to pay that RM 100, because my lawyer will charge back RM 100 to me.

To be exact, who is really responsible for the submission of Jadual 17 to Pejabat Pengarah Tanah dan Galian Wilayah Persekutuan? The developer, the proprietor, or the unit owner's lawyer?

Bear in mind that a few weeks ago, I have paid administrative fee and disbursement fee (which was charged by the developer) to the developer, for the procedure of the issuance of individual strata title.

Thank you for your clarification.

Previously, these questions were asked in Mortgage Loan Package Inquiries thread. Since there was no reply, perhaps these questions were asked in incorrect thread.

For Public Bank housing loan, when can I start to view my loan account in PBe Internet Banking website?

Will my loan account appear automatically in PBe Internet Banking website?

I am using TMNet Streamyx (now known as Unifi Lite) in my home.

ADSL Splitter is used for the internet connection.
- One RJ11 at one end for line.
- Two RJ11 at the other end for phone and router.

My ADSL Splitter is faulty, and I need to purchase a new ADSL Splitter to replace it, so that I can surf internet and use house telephone at the same time.

Where can I buy ADSL Splitter? What is the typical price of ADSL Splitter with reasonable quality? I prefer not to buy ADSL Splitter with the cheapest price, due to poor quality.

Thank you for your advice.

Vaccine Dependent Issue

MySejahtera app in my parent's handphone shows: "My IC number has been registered for vaccination with a different MySejahtera account." What should I do, so that the app will show vaccination appointment of my parent?

Initially, I registered my parent as my vaccine dependent, in MySejahtera app in my handphone. The idea was to get the same vaccination date for my parent and me.

After failing to register for vaccination appointment in MySejahtera app in my handphone (nothing happened, when I clicked 'submit'), I removed my parent as my vaccine dependent, in MySejahtera app in my handphone. However, the error in my parent's handphone ("My IC number has been registered for vaccination with a different MySejahtera account.") still persists. Even after I uninstall and reinstall MySejahtera app in my parent's handphone, I could not solve the issue.

Thank you for your information.

Forced Conversion from TMNet Streamyx to UniFi

Forced Conversion from TMNet Streamyx to UniFi

I am currently using TMNet Streamyx in my home.

In December last year, a TMNet telemarketer called me to give an offer for UniFi 30Mbps plan. Once I accept this order, I only need to pay RM 139 monthly.

I declined this offer, because I cannot afford to pay more money for my internet service, due to my meagre salary.

Then, the TMNet telemarketer claimed that on Year 2018, all TMNet Streamyx plans will forcefully be converted to UniFi plans. In other words, all TMNet Streamyx plans will be discontinued.

I declined once again, because if there is ever such forceful conversion, TMNet must send an official letter to all TMNet Streamyx subscribers, by post.

So, is the forceful conversion a lie by TMNet telemarketer to hard sell the UniFi 30Mbps plan to me, or something that will be implemented by TMNet this year?

Thank you for your advice.
Forced "Upgrade" to Talk and Surf 1

I received a letter from Maxis, stating that my ValuePlus Family 30 supplementary lines will be moved to Talk and Surf 1 (priced at RM 38, from April 6).

The thing is that my supplementary line holders are just using dumb phones, and thus do not know how to use mobile internet. They need only calls and SMSs.

Thus, there is no reason for me to pay RM 8 more per supplementary line, for 1 GB data my supplementary line holders are not going to use. Even if Maxis gives us Terabytes or Petabytes of mobile data as a part of the "enhanced" package, my supplementary line holders are not going to use even a single bit of data.

If Maxis really want to increase their average revenue per user (ARPU), Maxis can forcefully upgrade the mobile telephone plan of rich tycoons. Leave us alone, as we are just average joes, living from hand to mouth with meagre pay, struggling with daily cost of living.

I would appreciate any advice given, so that I can give best possible reasons and justifications to Maxis, to maintain ValuePlus Family 30 packages (priced at RM 30 per line per month) as it is.

Thank you very much.

Faulty LCD Screen of Laptop

I need some advices here, so that I can solve a problem of the LCD screen of my laptop. Any help is very much appreciated.

The LCD screen of my laptop is 15.6 " Full HD (1080p) WLED (1920 x 1080) Display with TrueLife(TM ).

Initially, there was a slanted line on left side of my LCD screen (at left bottom corner of my first screenshot). Then, over the few days, some brown spots appeared (second screenshot). Now, the circular area is now darkened and is growing larger day by day (third screenshot).

The weird thing is that the pixels on the brownish still can function, and display the image, as shown in the second screenshot.

Is my LCD screen spoilt? How can I repair it, without replacing the screen? Or, should I call the manufacturer of my laptop to repair or replace the LCD screen?

Yeah, my warranty has expired last year, but I still need to repair the LCD screen, as I still need to use my laptop. I would like to consider all options in repairing the LCD screen, before deciding the best course of action.

Thank you for the advices given.

[attachmentid=8425289]

[attachmentid=8425290]

[attachmentid=8425291]

Opening a Basic Current Account

I currently have a regular CIMB current account in CIMB, and I need to pay a service charge of RM10 half yearly for balances less than RM1,000.

I plan to close this CIMB current account, and replaces it by opening a basic current account which imposes the lowest fee as possible (not necessarily in CIMB, and not necessarily a basic current account).

1) Preferably, the current account should not impose service charge for balances less than RM1,000 and there should not be any minimum amount I should maintain. My plan is to maintain a balance of RM 20 in the current account, and deposit more money in the account when I want to issue a cheque.

2) No charges should be incurred on the issuance of cheque book, except for stamp duty incurred.

3) There should not be any annual fee being charged on the ATM card for this current account. I have no problem with limited numbers of ATM cash withdrawal.

4) I am ok with no interest being given on the balance of the current account, as my primary concern is to ensure the lowest all-in fee imposed on this current account.

To all, please suggest a suitable current account to suit my purposes. Thank you very much.

Exchanging USD to RM

My question is about exchanging small USD notes (USD 5 and USD 10) to Ringgit Malaysia notes.

Is it appropriate that the exchange rate of small USD notes is lower than of larger USD notes (USD 50 and USD 100)? For example, USD 50 can be converted at USD 1 = RM 3.60, but USD 5 can be converted maybe at USD 1 = RM 3.30.

What is the reason for poor conversion rate of small USD notes?

The reasons for me to have small USD notes are that it may be difficult to use larger USD notes, and larger USD notes are more prone to be fake.

Thanks for the advice.
