Network Storage + Streaming setup (Unraid)

Hi Sifu,

I am currently using my old desktop as a NAS.

OS : Unraid 6 latest build
CPU : FX8120
RAM 16GB
HDD : 2x2TB HDD
1x 1TB HDD
1x 120GB ssd Cache.
2X Gigabit NIC card (cheapo from dlink)
1x 8 port gigabit Dlink switch

Primary use to store my movie, pic and anime.

As the storage is just been set up and still in testing phase, I am using the trial 30 days version. Planning to buy the standard version soon ( USD59 )

So my question is

1) How do I add on functionality so that it can perform as a streaming server? Currently I am directly streaming through VLC from the storage.
It works fine on some file format and not others.

2) Planning to allow access to the NAS remotely including for streaming. I have used my stock Time AC1200 router to setup VPN, But on certain location or network, the ping is quite high causing unable to stream the video through VLC. Any suggestion to improve this? Hardware and software if possible.

Which leads to the first question is it best to add something like kodi or plex for this feature. How does it play with anime rather than movie?

WTA Buying a new laptop battery

Hi.
I am looking for a place that sells replacement battery for my laptop MSI GP60-2OD. If possible around KL or Ipoh. And just a quick question, if I replace my laptop battery, will it have the same lifespan as when I bought the laptop? Eg 2 hours+. I'm scared that if I replace the battery it will not perform the same due the aging hardware.

WTA Repurposing Old Gpu

Hi all. I got a few old gc which are nvidia 8800gt and 9800 gt pulled out from mac g5.
The question is how to re purpose them. I have an amd pc that is currently sitting around. I am not sure about selling them as they were quite old
Is there any projects that I can look into? I don't thing mining for coins would be efficient.

Dual seperate Graphic VS SLI/Crossfire

Hi all forumers.

I was wandering about this topic which is using two graphic cards in SLI/crossfire vs using it separately. Does it affect the performance? Both games and application such as video editing/rendering and 3d modelling. Can the both graphic card display image or do different things at the same time?

Hi to all sifus

Here's the problem. My laptop audio jack keeps on connecting and disconnecting. It is my main daily driver. So i'm looking for an alternative of fixing it a the same time improving the audio quality.

Budget Rm200-300

My question is

1) should i look for a DAC or Amp? Can it deliver audio through usb port?

2) If no should i look for an usb audio Card? But will it perform the same as DAC or Amp?

Current Equipment

1) Razer Electra
2) Altec Lansing octane 7
