Used Yamaha Rx-A860 over New RX-V685

Hi Sifus,

I am currently hunting for a Yamaha AV receiver. I found used Yamaha RX-A860 listed on Stylaser.com. The price is about the same with the lower tire series of the yamaha line up the new RX-V685.

Should I get the the used RX-A or the new RX-V685?

They are about the same price. I mainly use it for Home Theater pair with the Yamaha 350 speakers series (NS-F350 and NS-P350 + Subwoofer Ns200) My room is about 16 feet by 20 feet ( 5m x 6m).

I am new to HT System.

Which one is better:
HT in a Box such as Sony BDV-N9200

or.

A/V Receiver Package: Pioneer VSX 523k + 5.1 Infinity Speaker @ SenQ store?

Will do most for PS gaming, Music, and watch downloaded Bluray Movie.
For my Living room standard size.

Is the System with A/V Receiver much better? or the HT in a Box is enough?

Dear Owner of the Asus Matrix Platinum,

I wonder how warm it could be when this card under full load in a room without the aircond?

My aircond at the study room need to be service or replace but since my living room has the 2.5hp aircond, i thinking of just open the door and let it be cooled.

Now, i don't have the Matrix Plat yet, i'm still in the planing stage.

I need recommendation on those 2 software:

1. AutoCAD Electrical 2012
2. AutoCAD MEP 2012

We are M&E consulting company and mostly we use AutoCAD for our design in M&E Building Services.

Now, i have a question;

Can the AutoCAD Electrical/MEP do simulation/calculation and report if there is a design error?

My HP mini model 2133 just died after 1 year. I did google for the answer but only to find out that many HP Mini costumers are unhappy and suffering because of the
HP Mini problem.

I am going to KL on 18th this month for my friend's graduation. I am thinking of buying Nikon D90 in LowYat Plaza. Anyone can info me the price? is there any promotion right now?

I am from Kota Kinabalu and there are few camera dealer here. So probably i can get cheaper price at KL compare here RM 3.4k (Full D90 kit with free Tripod and 4Gb).

Hai all Lowyatian, i need help here.

Problem: Unable to open any website including www.msn.com.

But: Avira (Free edition) is able to do update and downloading at average 50kbps.

Environment.:

Windows XP (SP3)
Internet explorer 7.0 (Windows default browser)
ISP: Streamyx
Mode: Hauwei Smartax MT 800

Modem Setup: PPPoe (always on).

under Internet Explorer Option, no proxy.

When i typed in www.google.com on the address bar, i got error :"unable to open search box"

Incomplete offer letter- consider void?

Dear all, help me to solve my problem.

i work with a company based in Shah Alam but have a branch in Kota Kinabalu (KK). I sign up with KK Branch and they sent me for 3 month training at HQ Shah alam with allowance. I was under probation. Officially to be under probation for 6 months.

After my 3 month training completed i came back to KK. Just after a month, they sent me again but this time without any official letter but allowance still on.

Again, after 3 months i went back to KK again. Again, just after a month, they sent me again with the same title "training program". again without any official letter.

My probation period ended (6 months as in the offer letter) but only after 3 month letter they sign me as a contract staff.

first time job seeker so i did not carefully check all the agreement. i sign up 2 years contract with the company branch in KK (because they still give me allowance). My bos in KK promised me that i will work at KK and not at HQ.

after a year... they cut my allowance ... and later don't give allowance at all and i have been ask to work as a staff in HQ. But without any official letter.

I don't want to work at Shah Alam. What is the point to came back after graduated if i want to work in peninsular?

There is no official letter to transfer me here and no allowance at all. What do you guys think? does this scenario violated the agreement?

in the agreement there is no statement that i will be adopt as a permanent staff at HQ.

But this company also play trick, all my salary is from the Branch, KK. They know i am smart enough to reject their offer to work at HQ.

i felt like terkena "silent" transfer... they want it to be silent ...

i have a discussion with my friend,

I read few forum, lowyat and outside, that the 1GB VRAM on our graphic card is a marketing strategy only. for a 128-bit memory interface graphic card, it will limits the memory it can carry compare to 256 bit and so on.

AFAIK, 128 bit will be limited to 256MB graphic card memory.

I would be glad for this discussion. Any official source?

Hai fellow Lowyatian,

I bought Asus notebook which come with LifeFrame software for its WebCam. This software indeed very good which is capable to detect your face movement. Its also have pretty graphic embedded with it so you will be able to change/edit/add cool background/face effect.

My question it, would you be able to use this LifeFrame for video conference? something like Yahoo messenger? Just imagine if you having video chatting with your friend and your head is in a box/pumpkin but actually it is just an effect.
